Thanks to its vast territory (9.6 million km2), outstanding relief and varied climates, China boasts extremely plenty of ecosystems and landscapes. From south to north, it traverses almost all the temporal zones from tropical rainforest in the southernmost to frigid-temperate needle-leaved forest in the northernmost; from east to west, it sees a gradual transition fro humid forest landscape to extremely arid desert landscape; vertical change of landscapes is most striking owing to the existence of many high mountains (above 6000-7000 m, e.g., the Himalayas, the Kunlun, the Tianshan, the Hengduan, etc.) and plateaus, especially the immense Tibetan Plateau (averagely 4500 m above sea level). All of this give rise to the richness and diversity of ecosystems and landscape in China. Some of the ecosystems are endemic to China, e.g., alpine desert and alpine steppe in the Tibetan Plateau. As a result, China bears a great responsibility in the protection of global ecosystems and landscape.展开更多

By taking Canal Park in Yichang City for example, landscape design concepts had been discussed and design concepts of this ...The paper had introduced the development stage and role of site analysis in landscape design. By taking Canal Park in Yichang City for example, landscape design concepts had been discussed and design concepts of this park had been summarized as: continuing history and culture of the site; forming rare urban wetland landscape; respecting surrounding environment and integrating leisure recreation with ideal landscape layout; displaying regional customs through core scenic spots; manifesting regional features through plants' planning. After the analysis of features of Canal Park, four approaches for urban park features construction had been revealed, that is, guiding with new concept by centering on urban development requirement; reflecting regional customs; exploiting local historical resources; and fully expressing the property of the park. It was considered that urban park feature construction should be based on site analysis. Through exploitation and refinement of overt natural landscape features and covert cultural and historical resources, they should be decomposed, processed and integrated into concrete concepts. Finally, individual features of the site even the city could be embodied in concrete landscape factors.展开更多
The objective of this study is to define park design standards,determine the user expectations of the parks and evaluate the defined standards in the case of Taraqi Park in Herat city.On-site detection,observation and...The objective of this study is to define park design standards,determine the user expectations of the parks and evaluate the defined standards in the case of Taraqi Park in Herat city.On-site detection,observation and questionnaire survey methods were utilized in the study.The conformity of the park area with international standards were evaluated while general satisfaction towards the park was tried to be determined by virtue of surveys made with the users of the park.The results revealed that the current status of the park was poor,design and management of the park needs urgent improvements.Taraqi Park is the most visited park of the city in which the overall design of the park,facilities,management and maintenance systems are observed inadequate according to standards,rules and regulations of urban parks.展开更多

Park green space is an important component of urban ecosystem, it improves quality of urban ecological environment, reduces urban heat island effect, and beautifies city environment. By studying plant configuration in Jiangtan Park, Hankou District, Wuhan City, functional areas were regarded as a whole to collect data, AHP was applied to investigate the sample plots, garden plant landscape evaluation system was established, and landscapes in all units were evaluated. From the perspectives of site type, functional area, plant configuration, landscape composition, this paper analyzed site conditions of Jiangtan Park, provided scientific theoretic support and case reference for the plant configuration of park green spaces, which would play an extremely important role in improving urban ecological environment and enhancing urban landscape effect.展开更多
