This RHF equation employs the local density approach for exchange interactions including plasma Debye screening. Theoretical RHF and random phase approximation with exchange (RPAE) velocity calculations have shown that the GOSs for excitations to 3 s0(3 p,4 p,5 p,6 p)depend on the plasma Debye screening effects, as shown by the reduction in the GOS amplitude with decreasing Debye length λD. The agreement between the present RPAE V results for the transitions 3 s→3 s0(3 p,4 p,5 p)and the length calculations of Martínez-Flores was satisfactory. Correlation effects were found quite to be significant in the vicinity of the maxima of the GOS of the 3 s→3 s0(4 p,5 p,6 p)excitations by using the RPAE V approach. We note the poor influence of many electron correlations on the GOS of (3 s→3 p)transition with the same principal quantum number. Finally, we comment that the RPAE V calculations are useful in investigating electron correlation effects on the transition GOS of atomic sodium planted in Debye plasma. The present velocity results also reveal that the 3 s→3 s0(5p, 6p)transition GOSs tend to be delocalized due to more significant screening effects at Debye lengths λD=20and 30 a.u. for excited subshells 5p and 6p, respectively. We report here novel results of GOS for 3 s→3 s06ptransition obtained from different Debye lengths.展开更多

The bubble pulsation is measured by a phase-locked integrated imaging technique, and the ambient radius is obtained by fitting the numerical calculation based on the Rayleigh–Plesset bubble dynamics model to the experimental data. The results show that, under the same driving condition, the ambient radius of the cavitation bubble decreases correspondingly with the increase of SDS concentration within the critical micelle concentration, while the compression ratio of the radius increases, which indicates that the addition of SDS decreases the internal molecular number of the cavitation bubble and increases the power capability of the cavitation bubble. In addition, bubble oscillation increases the concentration of the surfactant molecules on the bubble wall, so that the effect of SDS on a single cavitation bubble is reduced when the SDS concentration is greater than 0.8 m M.展开更多

VPA possesses the characteristics of penetrating rapidly through the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and increasing levels of Bcl-2 and growth cone-associated protein (GAP) 43 in spinal cord. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of VPA on Bcl-2 expression and motor neuronal apoptosis in spinal cord of rats following sciatic nerve transection. DESIGN: Randomized controlled experiment. SETTING: Department of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery, Wuhan Puai Hospital. MATERIALS: A total of 30 male healthy SD rats of clean grade and with the body mass of 180-220 g were provided by Experimental Animal Center of Medical College of Wuhan University. Sodium Valproate Tablets were purchases from Hengrui Pharmaceutical Factory, Jiangsu. METHODS: The experiment was performed in the Central Laboratory of Wuhan Puai Hospital and Medical College of Wuhan University from February to May 2006. Totally 30 rats were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group (n =15) and model group (n =15). Longitudinal incision along backside of right hind limbs of rats was made to expose sciatic nerves, which were sharply transected 1 cm distal to the inferior margin of piriform muscle after nerve liberation under operation microscope to establish sciatic nerve injury rat models. Sodium Valproate Tablets were pulverized and diluted into 50 g/L suspension with saline. On the day of operation, the rats in the treatment group received 6 mL/kg VPA suspension by gastric perfusion, once a day, whereas model group received 10 mL/kg saline by gastric perfusion, once a day. L4-6 spinal cords were obtained at days 1, 4, 7, 14 and 28 after operation, respectively. Terminal deoxyribonucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) technique and immunohistochemical method (SP method) were used to detect absorbance (A) of neurons with positive Bcl-2 expression. Apoptotic rate of cells (number of apoptotic cells/total number of cells×100%) was calculated. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: A value of neurons with positive Bcl-2 expression and apoptotic rate in spinal cord of rats in the two groups. RESULTS: A total of 30 SD rats were involved in the result analysis. ①expression of positive Bcl-2 neurons: A value of positive Bcl-2 neurons were 0.71±0.02, 0.86±0.04, 1.02±0.06 at days 4, 7 and 14, respectively after operation in the treatment group, which were obviously higher than those in the model group (0.62±0.03, 0.71±0.05, 0.89±0.04, t = 3.10-4.50, P < 0.05). ②apoptotic result of motor neurons: Apoptotic rate of motor neurons in spinal cord was (6.91±0.89)% and (15.12±2.34)% at days 7 and 14 in the treatment group, which was significantly lower than those in the model group [(9.45±1.61)%, (19.35±0.92)%, t = 2.39, 3.03. P < 0.05]. CONCLUSION: VPA can increase expression of Bcl-2 in spinal cord and reduce neuronal apoptosis in rats following sciatic nerve injury, and has protective effect on motor neuron in spinal cord of rats.展开更多

Ferulic acid (FA) is a ubiquitous phenolic acid of low toxicity, and sodium ferulate (SF) is its sodium salt. Our previous studies have revealed that FA and SF show significant protective effect on excitotoxicity, we now test its potential neuroprotective and antidepressant-like effects. MTT assay and morphological analysis by fluorescence microscopy were adopted to measure the neuroprotective effects of SF;forced-swimming, tail-suspension, and chronic mild stress (CMS) tests were performed to assess its antidepressant-like activity. The results showed that SF had protection against H2O2-induced oxidative damage and dexamethasone (DXM)-induced neurotoxicity pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. Acute administration of SF markedly decreased the duration of immobility during forced-swimming in rats and mice and tail-supension tests in mice. However, SF has no any effects on reserpine-induced hypothermia, 5-hydroxytryptophan-induced head-twitch response, and potentiation of noradrenaline toxicity in mice. Chronic administration of SF reversed the effects of CMS on consumption of food and sucrose solution, weight gain, and histopathology of hippocampus by light microscopy, and potently shortened the immobility time during forced-swimming test following CMS in rats. This study provides evidence that SF possesses obviously antidepressant-like activity, and the antidepressant-like effect may result from its neuroprotective effects.展开更多

Hormone medicines are effective to some extent, but long-term use of them may bring about many complications.AIM To explore the protective effects of panax notoginseng saponin(PNS) against dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced intestinal inflammatory injury through phosphoinositide-3-kinase protein kinase B(PI3K/AKT) signaling pathway inhibition in rats.METHODS Colitis rat models were generated via DSS induction, and rats were divided into control(no modeling), DSS, DSS + PNS 50 mg/k, and DSS + PNS 100 mg/kg groups. Then, the intestinal injury, oxidative stress parameters, inflammatory indices, tight junction proteins, apoptosis, macrophage polarization, and TLR4/AKT signaling pathway in colon tissues from rats in each of the groups were detected. The PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway in the colon tissue of rats was blocked using the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway inhibitor, LY294002.RESULTS Compared with rats in the control group, rats in the DSS group showed significantly shortened colon lengths, and significantly increased disease activity indices, oxidative stress reactions and inflammatory indices, as well as significantly decreased expression of tight junction-associated proteins. In addition, the DSS group showed significantly increased apoptotic cell numbers, and showed significantly increased M1 macrophages in spleen and colon tissues. They also showed significantly decreased M2 macrophages in colon tissues, as well as activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway(all P < 0.05). Compared with rats in the DSS group, rats in the DSS + PNS group showed significantly lengthened colon lengths, decreased disease activity indices, and significantly alleviated oxidative stress reactions and inflammatory responses. In addition, this group showed significantly increased expression of tight junction-associated proteins, significantly decreased apoptotic cell numbers, and significantly decreased M1 macrophages in spleen and colon tissues. This group further showed significantly increased M2 macrophages in colon tissues, and significantly suppressed activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, as well as a dose dependency(all P < 0.05). When the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was inhibited, the apoptosis rate of colon tissue cells in the DSS + LY294002 group was significantly lower than that of the DSS group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION PNS can protect rats against DSS-induced intestinal inflammatory injury by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, and therefore may be potentially used in the future as a drug for colitis.展开更多

Since the generator is the starting point for the operation of system, one of the most important point to be addressed in this work is to determine the generator’s temperatures at which the system can accept the best quantities and qualities of energy. A mathematical model has been developed to study the performance of the system. Equations obtained from the thermodynamic properties of the ammonia/sodium thiocyanate couple were implemented in Matlab. The analysis consists of determining the effects of the generator’s temperature on the energy performance of the system. The computerized performance parameters are the coefficient of performance and the energy efficiency. Results indicate that the coefficient of performance increases with the temperature of the generator. Moreover, these remarks are not observed on the exergetic efficiency, because the latter increases until its maximum value 0.43, in order to decrease until its final value 0.35. In addition, the maximum value of the coefficient of performance tends towards 0.7 with increasing generator temperature. The system admits better operation when the generator temperatures are between 80°C and 90°C. The determination of this temperature interval by simulation can be use as a variable setting point in controlling the real system.展开更多

Sa(10 mg/kg body weight/day), and powder form of RSL(50 mg/kg body weight/day) were provided as food supplement orallty. Blood indices were measured using commercially available kits through colorimetric methods. Results: It was observed that lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase activities were significantly(P < 0.05)higher in Sa-treated mice than those in the control group. RSL significantly reduced Sainduced elevation of the activities of these enzymes in serum significantly(P < 0.05).Serum butyrylcholinesterase activity and high density lipoproteins cholesterol levels in Satreated mice were significantly(P < 0.05) lower than the control group, and the food supplementation of RSL could significantly(P < 0.05) prevent the reduction of Sa-mediated serum butyryl cholinesterase activity and high density lipoproteins cholesterol levels. RSL could also reduce the Sa-induced elevation of serum urea level significantly(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Results of this study suggest the protective or ameliorating effects of RSL on Sa-induced perturbation of blood indices are related to the hepatic, cardiovascular and kidney dysfunction. Therefore, RSL may be useful to reduce arsenic toxicity in human in the future.展开更多

Our previous studies have revealed that FA shows neuroprotective effect and significant antidepressant- like effect. The aim of this study was to investigate its potential neurogenesis-enhancing effect and its role in repair following stress-induced neuronal damage. MTT assay was performed to measure the effect of SF on the growth of rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells;morphological and immunocytochemical meth- ods were used for assessing its differentiation-induc- ing action. Chronic mild stress (CMS) tests were per- formed to establish rat model of depression. The histopathology of animal brains was studied to ana- lyze CMS-induced morphological changes and the effect of SF on the repair of CMS-induced brain in- jury. The expressions of nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and the proliferation of neural stem cell/neural progenitor cells were assessed in the hippocampi of chronic mild stress (CMS)-induced depression-like model rats by immunohistochemistry and bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)- incorporation assays, respectively. Our in vitro tests showed that SF promoted the proliferation of PC12 cells in the concentration range of 5 - 320 μM, and induced PC12 cells to differentiate to more mature cells with the morphological characteristics and mo- lecular marker of neuronal-like cells. In vivo tests showed that SF up-regulated the expressions of NGF and BDNF, and induced the proliferation of neural stem cell/neural progenitor cells in the hippocampi of CMS-induced depression-like model rats. This study provides evidences that SF shows neurogenesis-en- hancing effect, and its antidepressant-like effect of SF may be related directly and closely to its above-men- tioned effect.展开更多

Like many countries, CKD is a significant public health issue in Saudi Arabia. The prevalence of CKD in Saudi Arabia is estimated to be around 4.5% of the adult population, with a higher prevalence in older age groups. Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) are a class of oral medications used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In addition to their glucose-lowering effects, SGLT2i have been shown to have beneficial effects on kidney function in patients with or without T2DM. Therefore, a Saudi task force gathered to develop an explicit, evidence-based consensus on SGLT2i use in CKD Saudi patients. A panel of 14 experts made up a task force. An initial concept proposal was obtained. The proposal was divided into several topics discussed on 24 May 2023. A literature review was carried out. The literature search was completed on 3rd June 2023. A drafted report was distributed to the entire panel. Approval of the recommendations required consensus, defined as a majority approval (i.e. above 75%). The recommendations were revised to accommodate any differences of opinion until a consensus was reached. Recommendations were finally formulated on 21st June 2023. Subsequently, the panel reviewed and discussed the supporting rationale of the revised recommendations. This article presents these practical recommendations.展开更多

Therefore, RSL may be useful to reduce arsenic toxicity in human in the future.
文摘Ferulic acid (FA) is a ubiquitous phenolic acid of low toxicity, and sodium ferulate (SF) is its sodium salt. This study provides evidences that SF shows neurogenesis-en- hancing effect, and its antidepressant-like effect of SF may be related directly and closely to its above-men- tioned effect.

文摘[Objectives] The aim was to investigate the intervening effect of sodium aescinate on pulmonary fibrosis in rats with acute lung injury( ALI). [Methods] The rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group and sodium aescinate group. The rat model of ALI was induced by administration of oleic acid. The rats in the sodium aescinate group were intravenously injected with sodium aescinate according to the amount of 4 mg/kg for 14 consecutive d. Then,11 rats were selected randomly from each group and slaughtered on Day 1 and Day 14,respectively after last administration. The body mass index, arterial partial pressure of oxygen( PaO_2),oxygenation index( PaO_2/FiO_2),lung index,wet/dry mass ratio of lung, serum IL-1β,TNF-α,PC Ⅲ and TGF-β1 levels of the rats were analyzed. [Results]No significant differences were found in body mass index, lung index or lung wet/dry mass ratio among different groups. Compared with the model group, the PaO_2 and PaO_2/FiO_2 ratio increased significantly( P < 0. 05),the serum IL-1β,TNF-α,PC Ⅲ and TGF-β1 levels declined significantly( P <0. 05),the lung histopathological damage was reduced, and the semi-quantitative histological score( IQA) of damaged lung tissue decreased significantly( P < 0. 01). [Conclusions]Sodium aescinate can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors in rats with ALI,with certain intervening on pulmonary effect.
文摘According to recent epidemiological data, chronic kidney diseases (CKDs) affect approximately 10% of the global population. This article presents these practical recommendations.
