A rectangular space was first assumed to bound the irregular sound space and the sound pressure in the rectangular space expressed as a triple-Chebyshev series. Next, a coordinate transformation was performed and the Lagrangian functional of the irregular sound space obtained. Finally, the Lagrangian functional was solved under the Ritz method framework, and the enclosure's acoustic characteristic equation deduced and the eigenpairs obtained. The accuracy of the present method was validated according to agreement between the present results and finite element results for an enclosure with a curved surface.Furthermore, the acoustic characteristics of a trapezoidal enclosure and an enclosure with an inner groove were investigated. The results showed that the mode shapes of the trapezoidal sound space changed with increased inclination angle and the natural frequencies, except the first order, of the sound space with a rectangular inner groove decreased with increased groove depth.展开更多

The inversion of time-evolving sound speed profiles is modeled as a state-space estimation problem, which includes a state equation for predicting the time-evolving sound speed profile and a measurement equation for incorporating local acoustic measurements. In the paper, auto-regression (AR) method is introduced to obtain a high-order AR evolution model of the sound speed field time variations, and the ensemble Kalman filter is utilized to track the sound speed field. To validate the approach, the accuracy in sound speed estimation is analyzed via a numerical implementation using the ASIAEX experimental environment and the sound velocity measurement data. Compared with traditional approaches based on the state evolution represented as a random walk, simulation results show the proposed AR method can effectively reduce the tracking errors of sound speed, and still keep good tracking performance at low signal-to-noise ratios.展开更多

A head-related impulse response (HRIR, time- domain version of HRTF) is first decomposed by a two-level wavelet packet and then represented by a model composed of subband filters and reconstruction filters. The coefficients of the subband filters are the zero interpolation of the wavelet coefficients of the HRIR. The coefficients of the reconstruction filters can be calculated from the wavelet function. The model is simplified by applying a threshold method to reduce the wavelet coefficients. The calculated results indicate that for a model with 30 wavelet coefficients, the error of reconstructed HRIR is about 1%. And the result of a psychoacoustic test shows that a model with 35 wavelet coefficients is perceptually indistinguishable from the original HRIR. When multiple virtual sound sources are synthesized simultaneously, the computational cost of the proposed model is much less than the traditional HRTF filters.展开更多
