On the basis of the analysis of the hexagons inscribed and circumscribed of the Mises yield circle on the π- plane in Haigh Westergaard stress space, a new equation called equal area linear yield criterion or EA criterion was proposed, and its plastic specific work rate was derived. Then, a generalized worked example of plate rolling was analyzed by the criterion and its corresponding plastic specific work rate. Finally, the precision of the solution was compared with measured roll separation force in plate finish rolling process. It indicates that the calculated results by EA criterion are slightly higher than the measured ones. 展开更多

The tensile properties of a series of soybean protein yarns are tested in USTER THINKPAID Ⅲ. A nonlinear viscoelastic model has been proposed to describe the tensile behavior of soybean protein yarns. The model is composed of a Maxwell element, a linear spring and a nonlinear spring. The tensile properties of soybean protein yam are analyzed. The stress-strain curves of the yams are fitted. The average breaking tenacity and specific work of rupture are calculated using the average breaking strain. Comparisons indicate that theoretical predictions conform the experimental results very well. 展开更多

The current tribological research is intended to achieve maximum wear resistance under the structural adaptability of tribocoupling elements, which requires application of means to reduce the activation of the metal surface layers, decrease in frictional work, regulation of passivation and temperature control. The aim of this study is to identify the patterns that influence the kinetics formation of the boundary layers of lubricating mineral gear oil on activated friction contact surfaces, and the increment of the friction specific work on wear-resistant steel 42Cr4 and 100Cr6 in frequent start and stop operation mode. Due to the activation of surface layers of metal in the non-stationary operating conditions of the contact surfaces, the gradual forming of the boundary lubricant adsorption layers with increased effective viscosity in contact occurs, exhibiting high adaptation ability, and the boundary layer thickness is from 0.2 to 4 microns. This research analyzed the lubricating ability of oil at the starting maximum torque of friction, showing that the thickness of the oil layer formed in contact had a dual nature—boundary and hydrodynamic. The pure rolling conditions promote localization of shear in the lubricating layers, and the high frictional properties of the transmission oil have been identified regardless of the hardness of the investigated surfaces. 展开更多

The crack behavior of LDX 2101 by hot compression tests in the temperature range of 950 to 1150 ℃ and strain rate range of 0.01 to 30 s-1 was studied.The hot workability map of LDX 2101 was constructed and the alloy exhibited a better crack resistance at higher temperature and lower strain rate.Microvoids initiated and coalesced into crack at subsurface on the equatorial plane of bulge surface under secondary tensile condition.The cracks were orientated at an angle of approximately 45° with respect to the compression axis due to the secondary tensile stress.Microcracks easily initiated on the interface of ferrite and austenite and propagated within ferrite.The predicted results using specific plastic work approach were matched well with the free surface cracks. 展开更多
