The "Application of Standards for Equipment-Manufacturing Industry Workshop" was held for two days in Shanghai from May 25th to May 26th, 2007. Dozens of delegates from famous enterprises and organizations around the world participated, including those from Shell China Ltd., Leal China, Siemens Ltd. China Corporate, and Assurance of SAI Global and SGS . Nine experts, engaged in standardization, intellectual property, and related fields, gave speeches on "Standards and Best Practices," and many illustrative examples of the application of standards were provided.……展开更多

With 2G, 3G and 4G, the peak service rate is the dominant metric that distinguishes these three generations. 5G will significantly increase the peak service rate but will also dramatically increase energy efficiency, frequency efficiency, spectral effi- ciency, and efficiency of other resources. It will dramatically increase flexibility, ca- pacity, coverage, compatibility and convergence. In this way, it will salisfy the in- creasing demands of emerging big-data, cloud, machine-to-machine, and other ap- plications. The successful development and deployment of 5G technologies will be challenging and will require huge effort from industrry, academia, standardizalion organizations, anti regulatory authorities.展开更多

Although it was commonly performed especially in primigravida women, the new trend is to limit episiotomies as much as possible. This study aimed to find out the rate of episiotomy and to compare the rate in primigravida vs multigravida at King Abdulaziz university hospital. Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah from January 2012 to December 2015. Ethical approval was obtained. Results: 35% of the females in 2012 had episiotomy while the majority of the vaginal deliveries had no intervention (65%). In 2015, the rate of episiotomies has increased to 36.4%. However, the majority of the vaginal deliveries had no intervention (63.6%). Overall 87.6% primigravidas had episiotomy while only 12.4% delivered without intervention. On the other hand, only 16.1% multigravidas had episiotomy, while the largest portion of cases was delivered without intervention (83.9%). Conclusion: Rate of episiotomy has slightly increased in 2015 in comparison to 2012. To decrease the overall episiotomy rate, we have to review KAUH guidelines and evaluate the limitation of applying it in practice.展开更多

In 2003, the EU issued Directive 2003/51/EC, which broadened the information that firms have to provide in their MD&A, and in 2010 the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Practice Statement "Management Commentary", a non-binding guidance for the presentation of this document. The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between MD&A disclosure quality and properties of analysts' forecasts. In fact, although most studies found that financial analysts mainly refer to financial statement data in forecasting earnings, there are few researches highlighting the importance of MD&A disclosures for financial analysts. On this basis, Ramnath, Rock, and Shane (2008) called for researches in order to better understand the relationship between the information really used by analysts and their forecasts. To assess the quality of MD&A disclosures, we developed a multidimensional measure on the basis of the EU requirements and the IFRS Practice Statement, and then we regressed this variable on both forecast accuracy and dispersion. The findings show that our measure of MD&A disclosure quality is significantly and positively related to forecast accuracy. We conducted other analyses in order to better understand the previous relationship and we found that, if we analyze the different information contained in the MD&A statement, financial analysts consider useful accounting and financial data in forecasting earnings. These results enhance our understanding of the role of MD&A disclosures in the wide set of information that firms provide to financial statement users.展开更多

Due to the risk of error, dry-separation is cautioned against in the standard;however, there is no additional guidance as to when it is unsuitable nor for the magnitude of error that it may introduce. This study investigates the dry-separation method as an alternative by comparing with the conventional method of Wet-preparation in terms of particle-size distributions of eight cohesionless sand-gravel soils with varying amounts of nonplastic fines. The findings indicate a gradually increasing sieving error for fractions at minus 0.5 mm with the amount of fines in the soil, and depending on the fines content of the soil, dry-separation introduced errors upwards of 45% in silt-sand-gravel soils. An empirical best-fit formula is proposed for the estimation of the error using the dry-preparation method on this type of soil. Furthermore, to avoid sieving errors, the results suggest that the dry-separation method should not be used for silt-sand-gravel soils exceeding 2% silt size fractions.展开更多
