The exact solution of momentum and energy equations is obtained by the use of Laplace transform technique. The variations in fluid velocity and temperature are shown graphically whereas the numerical values of shear stress and the rate of heat transfer at the wall are presented in tabular form for various values of flow parameters. The results show that the fluid velocity increases with increase in Grashof number, Darcy number and time parameters whereas the fluid velocity decreases with increase in the radiation parameter and Prandtl number for ramped temperature as well as isothermal wall temperature. It is found that an increase in radiation parameter leads to rise the temperature for both ramped wall temperature as well as isothermal wall temperature. Further, it is found that an increase in Prandtl number leads to fall the temperature for both ramped wall temperature as well as isothermal wall temperature. The shear stress at the wall decreases with increases in either Prandtl number or porosity parameter while the result shows reverse in the case of radiation parameter. Finally, the rate of heat transfer is increased with increases in the radiation parameter for both ramped wall temperature as well as isothermal wall temperature.展开更多

The dimensionless governing coupled linear partial differential equations are solved using the Laplace transform technique. Two different solutions for the fluid velocity are obtained–one valid for the fluids of Schmidt numbers different from unity, and the other for which the Schmidt number is unity. The effects of Prandtl number (Pr), Schmidt number (Sc), time (t) and mass to thermal buoyancy ratio parameter (N) for both aiding and opposing buoyancy effects on the velocity and skin-friction are studied. A two-dimensional numerical simulation that adopts the full governing equations is also conducted to analyze the effects of neglected terms on flow and thermal transport performance by comparing with the semi-analytical solution. The effects of the relevant parameters and thermal boundary conditions including UWT and uniform heat flux(UHF) on the heat transfer characteristics are discussed based on the semi-analytical solution. The results show that the inertia term has a significant effect on the prediction of pressure drop, but has a relatively mild effect on Nusselt number. The axial conduction has significant effect on the Nusselt number at lower Reynolds number, and the effects of thermal dispersion can be neglected when the thermal conductivity ratio between fluid and solid is remarkably smaller for air/metal foam as example(kf/ks<3×10-3). The predicted Nusselt number of the semi-analytical solution is about 8% to 15% lower than that of the numerical solution with full model in the range of 4×10-5<kf/ks<3×10-3. Moreover, the temperature profile of solid is more sensitive to pore density and porosity than that of fluid under UWT condition. The Nusselt number under UWT is about 7% to 25% lower than that under UHF, and the difference is mainly determined by interfacial convection rather than solid conduction.展开更多

It is the basis of calculating frozen soil's mechanical parameters, fiarther prediction of bearing capacity and, ultimately, safety evaluation of the frozen soil wall. Regarding the average temperature of sin- gle-row-piped frozen soil wall, this paper summarizes several current calculation methods and their shortcomings. Furthermore, on the basis of Bakholdin's analytical solution for the temperature field under straight single-row-piped freezing, two new calcula- tion models, namely, the equivalent trapezoid model and the equivalent triangle model, are proposed. These two approaches are used to calculate the average temperature of a certain cross section which indicates the condition of the whole frozen soil wall. Considering the possible parameter range according to the freezing pipe layout that might be applied in actual construction, this paper compares the average temperatures of frozen soil walls obtained by the equivalent trapezoid method and the equivalent tri- angle method with that obtained by numerical integration of Bakholdin's analytical solution. This process is significantly affected by wall sticking occurrence temperature(WSOT). In this work, an efficient approach for estimating WSOT of high water-cut oil, which can agree well with the actual environment of multiphase transportation pipeline, is proposed. Based on the energy dissipation theory, it is possible to make comparison of average shear rates between the stirred vessel and the flow loop. The impacts of water content and shear rate on WSOT are investigated using the stirred vessel and the flow loop. Good agreement has been observed between the stirred vessel and the flow loop results with the maximum and the average absolute deviations equating to 3.30 °C and 2.18 °C, respectively. The development of gathering scheme can enjoy some benefits from this method.展开更多

Results showed that the Tws in April were of the highest among the three, followed by August and December. The Tws differences among walls with different orientation were higher in April and December when the weather tends to be sunny, and lower in August with more cloudy days in the time. In April and August, Tws of E-wall was the highest, followed by S- and N-wall. But in December Tws of S-wall might be sometimes higher than E one. Diurnal range of internal Tws was usually smaller than that of the external, with also a time lag for the occurrence of its maximum and minimum. The results can serve as a basis for further research on building microclimate and urban architecture designs. It also gives suggestions for similar studies in other areas.展开更多

Model predictive control (MPC) is an advanced control strategy that has acquired extensive applications in various industries. In this study, MPC is applied to the process for separating ethanol, n-propanol, and n-butanol ternary mixture in a fully thermally coupled DWC. Both composition control and tem- perature inferent/al control are considered. The multiobjective genetic algor/thm function "gamult/obj" in Matlab is used for the weight tuning of MPC. Comparisons are made between the control performances of MPC and PI strategies. Simulation results show that although both MPC and PI schemes can stabilize the DWC in case of feed disturbances, MPC generally behaves better than the PI strategy for both composition control and tempera- ture inferential control, resulting in a more stable and superior performance with lower values of integral of squared error (ISE).展开更多

The results are obvious that the temperature change of climate is one of the most effective factors which could lead the concrete shear wall to cracking at earlier age. The temperature differences between inside and outside concrete shear wall are so large that the concrete will gain larger shrinkage. This larger shrinkage which is caused by the temperature reducing ratio will gain the strained action of head, end and reinforced steel bar of concrete shear wall. This action can lead to tensile stress on the surface and inside concrete shear wall. If the tensile stress would exceed the pull strength of concrete, the concrete shear wall would crack and cause deterioration. Thus, the enhancing curing of concrete shear wall in suit at earlier age, and controlling temperature reducing ratio and deform caused by shrinkage, will be available treatments which control occurring and developing of cracking on concrete shear wall.展开更多

Based on daily minimum, maximum, and mean air temperatures(Tmin, Tmax, Tmean) at Great Wall Station(GW) and Zhongshan Station(ZS), we compared the temperature extremes and revealed a strong warming trend in Tmin, a slight warming trend in Tmean, cooling in Tmax, a decreasing trend in the daily temperature range, and the typical characteristic of coreless winter temperature. There are different seasonal variabilities, with the least in summer. The continentality index and seasonality show that the marine air mass has more effect on GW than ZS. Following the terminology of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC AR5), we defined nine indices of temperature extremes, based on the Antarctic geographical environment. Extreme-warm days have decreased, while extreme-warm nights have shown a nonsignificant trend. The number of melting days has increased at GW, while little change at ZS. More importantly, we have found inverse variations in temperature patterns between the two stations, which need further investigation into the dynamics of climate change in Antarctica.展开更多

The maximum temperatures of the pressure shell and the water wall are calcu- lated using annular vertical closed cavity model. Fine particles can deposit on the water wall due to the thermophore- sis effect. This deposit can affect heat transfer. The thermophoretic deposit efficiency is calculated by using Batch and Shen’s formula fitted for both laminar flow and turbulent flow. The calculated results indicate that natural convection is turbulent in the closed cavity. The transient thermophoretic deposit efficiency rises with the increase of the pressure shell’s temperature. Its maximum value is 14%.展开更多

The development of gathering scheme can enjoy some benefits from this method.

文摘A thermal-hydrodynamic coupling model is used to investigate the interplay between the wall temperature distribution and the bubble departure during the nucleate boiling process. The boiling process is modeled as the combination of three subprocesses:the transient heat conduction process in the solid heater, the evaporation of the microlayer underneath the bubble, and the bubble dynamics in the two-phase bulk fluid region. The moving bubble interface is captured by the volume of fluid method in the OpenFOAM framework. The proposed model is validated against the experimental results of the boiling process of the water on an Indium Tin Oxide heater. The predicted results agree well with related measurements in the literature.Following the validation, the effects of the boiling heat flux on the bubble departure period are examined. The results show that the bubble departure period decreases with the increase of the applied heat flux.High heat flux will cause irregularity in the departure periods for successive bubbles due to the influence of the wake flow evoked by the rising bubble.Furthermore, the influence of the bubble contact angle on the boiling heat-transfer performance is investigated. It is confirmed that the bubble departure diameter increases with the increase of the contact angle, meanwhile, the average wall temperature decreases with the increase of the contact angle.

文摘Internal and external wall surface temperatures (Tws) in April, August and December in Kunming, a city in low latitude plateau, were investigated. It also gives suggestions for similar studies in other areas.

文摘The dividing wall column (DWC) is considered as a major breakthrough in distillation technology and has good prospect of industrialization. Simulation results show that although both MPC and PI schemes can stabilize the DWC in case of feed disturbances, MPC generally behaves better than the PI strategy for both composition control and tempera- ture inferential control, resulting in a more stable and superior performance with lower values of integral of squared error (ISE).

文摘To study the wall-sticking phenomenon and prevent pipeline blockage accidents, two analytical methods are used to evaluate the influence of different crude oil components on the wall-sticking occurrence temperature(WSOT).The WSOT and the interactions among oil, water, and surface solids are measured and calculated by various devices under different values of the wax content, water pH,and salinity. The results show that there is greater correlation between the wax content and WSOT than between resins/asphaltenes and WSOT.Furthermore, the wax content, water pH,and salinity have different effects on WSOT.There is generally a positive correlation between wax content and WSOT,whereas the maximum WSOT occurs when the water pH is in the range 5.7–6.5,and decreases under more acidic or alkaline conditions. As the salinity increases,WSOT decreases slightly, but quickly becomes saturated. In terms of interactions, variations in the interfacial tension and adhesion work with pH and salinity are consistent with that of WSOT,while the contact angle exhibits the opposite relation.

文摘Using the process parameter description,we analyzed the difference between the characteristics of laminar convections through parallel plain planes with uniform temperature and heat flux. The results show the following.(1)On the wall surface of the developing region, under uniform heat flux boundary condition, the heat flux normal to the wall surface is transported through a convection process although the velocity is zero;the velocity gradient contributes to this transport, but under uniform temperature boundary condition, the heat flux normal to the wall surface is transported through a difussion process.(2)Inside the flow of the developing region, whether under uniform temperature or heat flux boundary condition, the heat flux along the main flow direction and the heat flux normal to the wall surface are transported through a convection process, and the contributions of velocity and velocity gradient are dependent on the thermal boundary condition.(3)On the wall surface of the fully developed region, under uniform heat flux boundary condition, the heat flux normal to the wall surface is transported through a convection process;the velocity gradient contributes to this transport, but under uniform temperature boundary condition, the heat flux normal to the wall surface is transported through a diffusion process.(4)Inside the flow of the fully developed region, under uniform temperature boundary condition, the heat flux along the main flow direction and the heat flux normal to the wall surface are transported through a convection process, and the velocity and velocity gradient contribute to these transports;under uniform heat flux boundary condition, the heat flux along the main flow direction and the heat flux normal to the wall surface are transported through a convection process.Furthermore, the transport of the heat flux along the main flow direction is a no-net convection process;the velocity gradient contributes to the transport of the heat flux only in the normal direction of the wall surface.(5)Simply because the maximum velocity gradient component on the wall surface contributes to the transport of the heat flux normal to the wall surface under uniform heat flux boundary condition,it does not contribute to this transport under uniform temperature boundary condition;thus, the heat transfer intensity under uniform heat flux boundary condition is stronger than that under uniform temperature boundary condition.

文摘In situ, the changes of temperature, deformation, and stressing of steel bar of C40 reinforced concrete shear wall were measured, respectively. Thus, the enhancing curing of concrete shear wall in suit at earlier age, and controlling temperature reducing ratio and deform caused by shrinkage, will be available treatments which control occurring and developing of cracking on concrete shear wall.

文摘Although temperature extremes have led to more and more disasters, there are as yet few studies on the extremes and many disagreements on temperature changes in Antarctica. More importantly, we have found inverse variations in temperature patterns between the two stations, which need further investigation into the dynamics of climate change in Antarctica.

文摘The water wall is an important part of the passive natural circulation residual heat removal system in a high temperature gas-cooled reactor. Its maximum value is 14%.

文摘With the improvement of people’s living standards,a large number of petroleum products, daily necessities and decorations that can produce volatile organic compounds are used in decoration, which seriously affects the indoor air quality.Interior decoration materials have become a research hotspot in recent years. The purpose of this paper is to develop a kind of interior wall material with good indoor formaldehyde removal effect, easily using, and low cost.In this paper, combining different heat treatment temperatures of the glaze layer,tourmaline/diatomite-based interior wall tiles were prepared by ultrafine grinding, solid sintering, and low temperature calcination. The glaze layer under different heat treatment temperatures was characterized by thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis,X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope. The influences of heat treatment temperature on the microscopic morphology and structure of the glaze layer were analyzed.Taking formaldehyde as the target degradation product, the effects of tourmaline/diatomite-based interior wall tiles on the removal of formaldehyde under different heat treatment temperatures of the glaze layer were investigated. The results showed that with the increase in heat treatment temperature, the original pores of diatomite decreased, the specific surface area decreased, and the structure of tourmaline changed. At 850℃,the surface structure of the material was slightly damaged, the strength was increased, and the removal effect of formaldehyde was better. In a 1 m^(3) environmental chamber, the formaldehyde removal rate reached 73.6%in 300 min. When the temperature was increased to 950℃ and above, diatomite and the structure of tourmaline were destroyed, and the ability of the material to adsorb and degrade formaldehyde decreased.
