In this study, we inves-tigated feature binding of col...It is not clear whether the method used in functional brain-network related research can be applied to explore the feature binding mechanism of visual perception. In this study, we inves-tigated feature binding of color and shape in visual perception. Functional magnetic resonance imaging data were collected from 38 healthy volunteers at rest and while performing a visual perception task to construct brain networks active during resting and task states. Results showed that brain regions involved in visual information processing were obviously activated during the task. The components were partitioned using a greedy algorithm, indicating the visual network existed during the resting state.Z-values in the vision-related brain regions were calculated, conifrming the dynamic balance of the brain network. Connectivity between brain regions was determined, and the result showed that occipital and lingual gyri were stable brain regions in the visual system network, the parietal lobe played a very important role in the binding process of color features and shape features, and the fusiform and inferior temporal gyri were crucial for processing color and shape information. Experimental ifndings indicate that understanding visual feature binding and cognitive processes will help establish computational models of vision, improve image recognition technology, and provide a new theoretical mechanism for feature binding in visual perception.展开更多

It is found that the two-variable Hermite polynomial state can be considered as a two-mode photon subtracted squeezed vacuum state. A compact expression for the Wigner function is also derived analytically by using the Weyl-ordered operator invariance under similar transformations. The spin transport properties are theoretically investigated when a quantum dot(QD)is side-coupled to Majorana bound states(MBSs)driven by a symmetric dipolar spin battery.It is found that MBSs have a great effect on ...The spin transport properties are theoretically investigated when a quantum dot(QD)is side-coupled to Majorana bound states(MBSs)driven by a symmetric dipolar spin battery.It is found that MBSs have a great effect on spin transport properties.The peak-to-valley ratio of the spin current decreases as the coupling strength between the MBS and the QD increases.Moreover,a non-zero charge current with two resonance peaks appears in the system.In the extreme case where the dot-MBS coupling strength is strong enough,the spin current and the charge current are both constants in the non-resonance peak range.When considering the effect of the Zeeman energy,it is interesting that the resonance peak at the higher energy appears one shoulder.And the shoulder turns into a peak when the Zeeman energy is big enough.In addition,the coupling strength between the two MBSs weakens their effects on the currents of the system.These results are helpful for understanding the MBSs signature in the transport spectra.展开更多

Both structural magnetic resonance imaging and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were collected from nine Parkinson's disease patients with right resting tremor, and from eight age-matched normal controls. Regional homogeneity was compared between Parkinson's disease patients and controls. The results revealed that regional homogeneity was increased in several brain regions, including the right precuneus, right superior parietal gyrus, left anterior cingulate cortex, right middle frontal gyrus and right inferior frontal gyrus. Conversely, regional homogeneity was decreased in the cerebellar vermis in Parkinson's disease patients compared with healthy controls.展开更多
Owing to the unique structural,electronic,and physico-chemical properties,molybdenum clusters are expected to play an important role in future nanotechnologies.However,their ground states are still under debate.In thi...Owing to the unique structural,electronic,and physico-chemical properties,molybdenum clusters are expected to play an important role in future nanotechnologies.However,their ground states are still under debate.In this study,the crystal structure analysis by particle swarm optimization(CALYPSO)approach is used for the global minimum search,which is followed by first-principles calculations,to detect an obvious dimerization tendency in Mo_(n)(n=2-18)clusters when the 4s and 4p semicore states are not regarded as the valence states.Further,the clusters with even number of atoms are usually magic clusters with high stability.However,after including the4 s and 4 p electrons as valence electrons,the dimerization tendency exhibits a drastic reduction because the average hybridization indices H_(sp),H_(sd),and H_(pd) are reduced significantly.Overall,this work reports new ground states of Mo_(n)(n=11,14,15)clusters and proves that semicore states are essential for Mo_(n) clusters.展开更多

MgB2 with Tc ≈ 40 K, is a record-breaking compound among the s-p metals and alloys. E...MgB2 with Tc ≈ 40 K, is a record-breaking compound among the s-p metals and alloys. It appears that this material is a rare example of the two band electronic structures, which are weakly connected with each other. Experimental results clearly reveal that boron sub-lattice conduction band is mainly responsible for superconductivity in this simple compound. Experiments such as tunneling spectroscopy, specific heat measurements, and high resolution spectroscopy show that there are two superconducting gaps. Considering a canonical two band BCS Hamiltonian containing a Fermi Surface of π- and σ-bands and following Green’s function technique and equation of motion method, we have shown that MgB2 possess two superconducting gaps. It is also pointed out that the system admits a precursor phase of Cooper pair droplets that undergoes a phase locking transition at a critical temperature below the mean field solution. Study of specific heat and density of states is also presented. The agreement between theory and experimental results for specific heat is quite convincing. The paper is organized in five sections: Introduction, Model Hamiltonian, Physical properties, Numerical calculations, Discussion and conclusions.展开更多
Chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,which threatens global public health,is a major contributor to liver-related morbidity and mortality.Examinations for liver diseases related to chronic HBV infection-including l...Chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,which threatens global public health,is a major contributor to liver-related morbidity and mortality.Examinations for liver diseases related to chronic HBV infection-including laboratory tests,ultrasounds,computed tomography(CT),and liver biopsies-may take up medical resources,particularly since they overlap in most instances.Thus,there is an urgent need to establish an economical and effective diagnosis method in order to streamline the medical process for HBV-related disea ses.Using complex network models constructed based on clinical blood tests,we provide such a method by defining the novel measure of functional resilience to assess patients’liver conditions.By combining network models and dynamics,we discovered the pivotal items and their corresponding thresholds,which can guide further research on preventing disease deterioration in critical states of these diseases.The macro-averaged precision of our method,functional resilience,is84.74%,whereas the macro-averaged precision of physicians’experience without assistance from imaging or biopsy is 55.63%.From an economic perspective,our approach could save the equivalent of at least30 USD per visit for most Chinese patients and at least 400 USD per visit for most US patients,compared with general diagnostic methods.Globally,this will add to savings of at least 10.5 billion USD annually.Our method can comprehensively evaluate the condition of patients’livers and help avert the waste of medical resources during the diagnosis of liver disease by reducing excessive imaging exams.展开更多
