Estimation of Daily Global Solar Radiation with Different Sunshine-Based Models for Some Burundian Stations

Sunshine duration (S) based empirical equations have been employed in this study to estimate the daily global solar radiation on a horizontal surface (G) for six meteorological stations in Burundi. Those equations include the Ångström-Prescott linear model and four amongst its derivatives, i.e. logarithmic, exponential, power and quadratic functions. Monthly mean values of daily global solar radiation and sunshine duration data for a period of 20 to 23 years, from the Geographical Institute of Burundi (IGEBU), have been used. For any of the six stations, ten single or double linear regressions have been developed from the above-said five functions, to relate in terms of monthly mean values, the daily clearness index () to each of the next two kinds of relative sunshine duration (RSD): and . In those ratios, G<sub>0</sub>, S<sub>0 </sub>and stand for the extraterrestrial daily solar radiation on a horizontal surface, the day length and the modified day length taking into account the natural site’s horizon, respectively. According to the calculated mean values of the clearness index and the RSD, each station experiences a high number of fairly clear (or partially cloudy) days. Estimated values of the dependent variable (y) in each developed linear regression, have been compared to measured values in terms of the coefficients of correlation (R) and of determination (R<sub>2</sub>), the mean bias error (MBE), the root mean square error (RMSE) and the t-statistics. Mean values of these statistical indicators have been used to rank, according to decreasing performance level, firstly the ten developed equations per station on account of the overall six stations, secondly the six stations on account of the overall ten equations. Nevertheless, the obtained values of those indicators lay in the next ranges for all the developed sixty equations:;;;, with . These results lead to assert that any of the sixty developed linear regressions (and thus equations in terms of and ), fits very adequately measured data, and should be used to estimate monthly average daily global solar radiation with sunshine duration for the relevant station. It is also found that using as RSD, is slightly more advantageous than using for estimating the monthly average daily clearness index, . Moreover, values of statistical indicators of this study match adequately data from other works on the same kinds of empirical equations. 展开更多

This paper studies the problem of the space station short-term mission planning, which aims to allocate the executing time of missions effectively, schedule the corresponding resources reasonably and arrange the time of the astronauts properly. A domain model is developed by using the ontology theory to describe the concepts, constraints and relations of the planning domain formally, abstractly and normatively. A method based on time iteration is adopted to solve the short-term planning problem. Meanwhile, the resolving strategies are proposed to resolve different kinds of conflicts induced by the constraints of power, heat, resource, astronaut and relationship. The proposed approach is evaluated in a test case with fifteen missions, thirteen resources and three astronauts. The results show that the developed domain ontology model is reasonable, and the time iteration method using the proposed resolving strategies can successfully obtain the plan satisfying all considered constraints. 展开更多

A new power estimation method is proposed for base station(BS) in this paper.Based on this method,a software platform for power estimation is developed.The proposed method models power consumption on different abstraction levels by splitting a typical base station into several basic components at different levels in the view of embedded system design.In particular,our focus is on baseband IC(Integrate Circuit) due to it's the dominant power consumer in small cells.Baseband power model is based on arithmetic computing costs of selected algorithms.All computing and storage costs are calibrated using algorithm complexity,hardware architecture,activity ratio,silicon technology,and overheads on all hierarchies.Micro architecture and IC technology are considered.The model enables power comparison of different types of base stations configured with different baseband algorithms,micro architectures,and ICs.The model also supports cellular operators in power estimation of different deployment strategies and transmission schemes.The model is verified by comparing power consumption with a real LTE base station.By exposing more configuration freedoms,the platform can be used for power estimation of current and future base stations. 展开更多

Firstly,the error source of multi-station assembly system is analyzed,the relationship of dimension variation propagation in multi-station assembly processes is studied and the state equation for variation propagation is constructed too. Then,the feature parameters which influence variation propagation and accumulation in multi-station assembly processes are found to evaluate quality characteristic of the assembly system. Through the derivation of equation on dimension variation propagation,station coefficient matrices which are combined and conversed to determine the max eigenvalue are educed. The max eigenvalue is multiplied by the weight coefficient to establish the quality evaluation model in multi-station assembly processes. Furthermore,assembly variation indexes are proposed to judge of the assembly technology process. An anisotropic geomechanical model for jointed rock mass is presented. Simultaneously with deriving the orthotropic anisotropy elastic parameters along the positive axis, the equivalent compliance matrix for the deflection axis orthotropic anisotropy was derived through a three- dimensional coordinate transformation. In addition, Singh's analysis of the stress concentration effects of intermittent joints was adopted, based on two groups of intermittent joints and a set of cross- cutting joints in the jointed rock mass. The stress concentration effects caused by intermittent joints and the coupling effect of cross-cutting joints along the deflection-axis are also considered. The proposed anisotropic mechanics parameters method is applied to determine the deformation parameters of jointed granite at the Taishan Nuclear Power Station. Combined with the deterministic mechanical parameters of rock blocks and joints, the deformation parameters and their variability in jointed rock masses are estimated quantitatively. The computed results show that jointed granite at the Taishan Nuclear Power Station exhibits typical anisotropic mechanical characteristics; the elastic moduli in the two horizontal directions were similar, but the elastic modulus in the vertical direction was much greater. Jointed rock elastic moduli in the two horizontal and vertical directions were respectively about 24% and 37% of the core of rock, showing weakly orthotropic anisotropy; the ratio of elastic moduli in the vertical and horizontal directions was 1.53, clearly indicating the transversely isotropic rock mass mechanical characteristics. The method can be popularized to solve other rock mechanics problems in nuclear power engineering. 展开更多

Sediment deposition in the pumping station has a huge negative impact on unit operation.The three-dimensional CFD method has been used to simulate inlet structure flow in pumping station based on the Eulerian solid- liquid two-phase flow model. The numerical results of the preliminary scheme show that sediment deposition occurs in the forebay of pumping station because of poor flow pattern therein. In order to improve hydraulic configuration in the forebay,one modified measure reconstructs water diversion weir shape,and another measure sets a water retaining sill in the approach channel. The simulation results of the modified scheme prove that back flow in the forebay has been eliminated and the sediment deposition region has also been reduced. 展开更多

A simulation study on occupant evacuation in high-speed railway stations(HSRSs) was presented in China.Pathfinder was employed as the simulation platform and a typical HSRS in a medium-sized city in China was selected for model development.The model was carefully calibrated and validated by comparing simulation results with field data.Evacuation efficiency could be improved with the increased door width while such effect decreased when the door width reached a marginal value.And the marginal value varied under different occupant densities.An exponential function between evacuation time and occupant density was fitted,indicating that occupant density significantly affected evacuation efficiency.A set of different evacuation strategies were compared,in terms of their evacuation performances.It was found that a balanced door usage would result in more efficient evacuations in HSRSs.Thus occupant flows were suggested to be managed considering door capacity.To avoid potential safety issues caused by such strategy(e.g.,more occupants could be evacuated from a smaller area designed with higher door capacity),occupants needed to enhance their awareness of following evacuation guidance instead of panic escape in emergencies.Moreover,such safety issues could also be avoided during the design phase that the evacuation capacity was designed to be proportional to the room capacity for each floor.The results of this study provide valuable information for HSRS design and flow management in China. 展开更多

LNG接收站取水流道内水流形态复杂,泥沙淤积问题往往难以避免,特别是在含沙量较高水域,流道内泥沙淤积可能威胁接收站的正常运营。为实现LNG取水泵站不停机条件下清淤,开展取水泵站射流冲刷物理模型试验,模拟了射流冲沙装置开启后吸水间射流水流特征及冲刷效果,探究了射流冲刷设置的喷嘴与翼墙夹角、射流流量、冲刷时间等因素影响下流道内减淤清淤效果。试验结果表明,在理想状态下吸水间射流冲沙装置连续作用12h基本可达到较为理想的清淤效果;一次大风浪过后,装置连续作用0.5h基本可达到较为理想的清淤效果。清淤效果视射流流量、喷嘴与翼墙夹角以及冲刷时间不同而有差别。结合取水泵站泥沙淤积物理模型试验研究成果,取水泵站淤积区主要发生在前池、过滤池末端、吸水间和消防泵附近,建议在这些区域安装射流冲沙装置,实现不停机状态下的减淤清淤,提高取水安全保证率,从而提高运营效益。 展开更多

Dwell time estimation models for bus rapid transit stations

Bus rapid transit (BRT) systems have been shown to have many advantages including affordability, high capacity vehicles, and reliable service. Due to these attractive advantages, many cities throughout the world are in the process of planning the construction of BRT systems. To improve the performance of BRT systems, many researchers study BRT operation and control, which include the study of dwell times at bus/BRT stations. To ensure the effectiveness of real-time control which aims to avoid bus/BRT vehicles congestion, accurate dwell time models are needed. We develop our models using data from a BRT vehicle survey conducted in Changzhou, China, where BRT lines are built along passenger corridors, and BRT stations are enclosed like light rails. This means that interactions between passengers traveling on the BRT system are more frequent than those in traditional transit system who use platform stations. We statistically analyze the BRT vehicle survey data, and based on this analysis, we are able to make the following conclusions: ( I ) The delay time per passenger at a BRT station is less than that at a non-BRT station, which implies that BRT stations are efficient in the sense that they are able to move passengers quickly. (II) The dwell time follows a logarithmic normal distribution with a mean of 2.56 and a variance of 0.53. (III) The greater the number of BRT lines serviced by a station, the longer the dwell time is. (IV) Daily travel demands are highest during the morning peak interval where the dwell time, the number of passengers boarding and alighting and the number of passengers on vehicles reach their maximum values. (V) The dwell time is highly positively correlated with the total number of passengers boarding and alighting. (VI) The delay per passenger is negatively correlated with the total number of passengers boarding and alighting. We propose two dwell time models for the BRT station. The first proposed model is a linear model while the second is nonlinear. We introduce the conflict between passengers boarding and alighting into our models. Finally, by comparing our models with the models of Rajbhandari and Chien et al., and TCQSM (Transit Capacity and Quality of Service Manual), we conclude that the proposed nonlinear model can better predict the dwell time at BRT stations. 展开更多

针对新能源在电网中渗透率不断提高导致系统调频容量和频率响应能力不足的问题,提出一种含废旧矿井抽蓄电站的源-荷-储协同控制调频方法。首先,建立了电解铝工业负荷、废旧矿井抽蓄电站和超级电容频率响应模型。然后,基于模型预测控制理... 针对新能源在电网中渗透率不断提高导致系统调频容量和频率响应能力不足的问题,提出一种含废旧矿井抽蓄电站的源-荷-储协同控制调频方法。首先,建立了电解铝工业负荷、废旧矿井抽蓄电站和超级电容频率响应模型。然后,基于模型预测控制理论,以系统状态量和控制量的加权函数最小为目标,设计区域信息互动的分布式模型预测控制器,并提出含废旧矿井抽蓄电站的源-荷-储协同控制调频方法。最后,将分布式模型预测控制器应用在所提源-荷-储协同控制方法中,并在改进的IEEE标准两区域LFC模型中进行仿真。结果表明所提方法可以缩短频率恢复时间,减小最大频差值,改善系统调频动态性能。 展开更多
