This work develops the idea that is possible to affirm that beyond its nuances. Ageism has shown a surprising force of prevalence in western society. IMAGE-BUILDING AND FRAMING PROCESSES OF AN ANTI-MOTHER/-WOMAN IN CICERO’S PRO CLUENTIO

In this case study we explore Cicero’s processes of framing and image-building regarding the concept of an anti-mother/-woman.For this we examine Cicero’s portrayal of Sassia,a woman who features as one of the main antagonists of his speech Pro Cluentio.We analyse Cicero’s depiction of Sassia’s evilness towards her son,Cluentius,through the lens of frame and framing theories.By doing so,this case study aims to present a deeper understanding of Cicero’s stratagems(e.g.,priming,calling for action;nudging,pushing someone towards action;and affordance,offering a frame to act outside of or within)which were employed in order to devise a negative characterisation of Sassia.The application of this methodological approach to Cicero’s framing of Sassia provides a new scope for analysing not only the classical text itself but also for the analysis of ancient human society to which it belonged.

城市低收入居民日出行链特征及其影响因素分析

基于南京居民1d出行调查数据,对城市低收入居民日出行链的复杂度和类型选择特征进行分析.Pearson卡方检验表明不同收入群体的日出行链模式存在显著差异.低收入居民以非通勤出行链为主,且出行链复杂度低.此外,通过建立Stereotype Logit模型和Mixed Logit模型分别研究影响日出行链复杂度和类型选择的因素.结果表明,出行便利性和灵活性提高时,低收入居民的出行链复杂度会随之增加.高居住密度和高就业岗位密度地区的低收入居民倾向选择复杂的通勤链出行,且从事更多的非通勤活动.

Imagological Topoi in Balkan Literatures

The purpose of this text is to research dominant/typical images which have been constructed in the process of the perception and representation of the stranger in Balkan literatures, and reciprocally, the images that strangers constructs for the Balkan in the same literary context. Under conditions where Balkan literatures have been treated as an alternative history of the Balkan, the author intends to see the role and power of literary work in creation, in changing or rejecting the image for/of the Other/stranger. The analysis covers several areas： the dominant position of image constructions; acts of invention an in（ter）vention; forming and transforming the images of the stranger; the role of stereotypes and prejudice in constructing images; the role of the discursive communities in creating images; and the role of the projective ideology in creating images.

Effects of odors on behaviors of captive Amur leopards Panthera pardus orientalis

Captive environments often fail to resemble the wild environment in respects of limited space, unchanging habitat, lack of stimulus and contingency. Common animal welfare problems which occur in captive animals include low behavioral diversity, abnormal behavior and excessive inactivity. Environmental enrichment, as an effective strategy to tackle these problems and promote mental health of captive animals, has been recognized as an important principal for captive animal management. Among all the enriehment techniques, olfactory enrichment is a simple and effective method for improving the well-being of the olfactory sensitive felids. Behavioral problems were observed in six Amur leopards Panthera pardus orientalis at Beijing Zoological Garden. These were held in the older type exhibits which have now been rebuilt. These behaviors include stereotypic behavior and excessive inactivity caused by the spatially limited enclosures with low levels of stimuli. To determine the effects of predator, prey, and herb odors as potential enrichment materials for captive leopards, we conducted olfactory enrichment experiments for the leopards and tested the effects of nutmeg Myristica fragrans, feces of roe deer Capreolus capreolus and urine of Amur tiger Panthera tigris altaica to test for an increase in behavioral repertoire and activity. Odors provided in this study were also believed to improve the psychological and physiological health of individuals. To standardize the method of presentation the odors were introduced to the enclosures by rubbing or spraying onto a clean towel. Our results show that the selected three odors effectively increased the behavioral diversity. Ten new behavior types were observed in the nutmeg experiment, eight in the feces of roe deer experiment and six in the tiger urine experiment. Among the three odors, cats responded to nutmeg for the longest duration, followed by tiger urine and feces of roe deer. Leopards showed more play behavior in presence of nutmeg while more investigatory behavior in presences of feces of roe deer and tiger urine. Providing novel odors increased the spatial use of the exhibit and the animal＇ s increased use of the logs, sleeping platforms and bars in the cages. Novel odors also significantly increased the overall activity of the leopards, but the effects were diminished in about three hours.

Gender stereotyping in the accounting profession in Turkey

Gender stereotypes are descriptive beliefs about how males and females actually differ. Occupational gender stereotyping labels males and females performing an occupation in the context of gender stereotypes. Therefore, occupational gender stereotyping may serve as one of the barriers in women＇s career advancement. Within this framework, this study aims to examine the occupational gender stereotyping in the accounting profession in Turkey. Based on a survey conducted with business students, the perceived gender of the accounting profession is studied. In addition, a visual study is used to define occupational accounting stereotypes. Overall it is found that there is a significant difference between the stereotypes of male and female accountants＇ in Turkey, where the profession is （largely, overwhelmingly） male dominated.

A Case Study on Chinese Stereotypes about North American Culture

This paper is a case study on three negative stereotypes that Chinese have about North American culture on the basis of the theory of Kluckhohn' s Value System,Hofstede' s Value Dimensions and Edward T.Hall' s Model.This study is a qualitative study which is mainly based on analyzing.Then some good ways are provided to help Chinese people overcome some negative stereotypes about North American culture so that they can have a more accurate understanding on American people and American culture and communicate with Americans with less obstacles.
