In 2018, Mocnik and Fairbairn argued that maps are good for representing a geographic space but texts have a better benefit than maps for telling a story [1]. A framework is presented on how a landscape change can be retrieved out of textual descriptions. A prototype of a 3D model with a projection on top of it was developed. The case study tells the story of the landscape change in the city of Pristina. The key element of the visualization is a timeline. Several media like cadastral maps, orthophotos, texts, graphics, and background sound are used and combined in an animated light show and the visualization was evaluated within a user study.展开更多

It is a structure of values, beliefs, and assumptions deemed appropriate in thinking and acting inside an organization. Organizational culture is relative to a company's success. Storytelling, organization rituals, and corporate socialization can reflect organizational culture. Those are a series of cultural artifacts or the perceptible facets of an organization's culture that help materialize the company's success. Starbucks is both a successful company and brand that with a special and great organizational culture. Its motto:"We aren't in the coffee business, serving people. We are in the people business, serving coffee,"or, to put it more simply,"Starbucks is pretty darn nice place to hang out"(Serwer and Bonamici). Starbucks doesn't just sell coffee. They sell spiritual culture. They sell a feeling that can increase peace and relax, instead of noises from outside. That's why Starbucks Coffee Shops have become America's, and even the world's public living and dining rooms. In 1971, the fist Starbucks store opened in Seattle. There are over 11,000 Starbucks locations in 37 countries. This paper examines the Starbucks' culture through their storytelling, place, organization rituals, and corporate socialization, and various other customs.展开更多

The Yangzhou pinghua repertoire of Pi Wu lazi 皮五辣子(Rogue Pi Wu) initially created in Yangzhou around the Qianlong 乾隆(1735-1796) era has been passed down to the present times and performed by Yang Mingkun 楊明坤(1949-). In this paper, the author will examine some historical aspects of Yangzhou city that is reflected in the narrative of Rogue Pi Wu recited by Yang Mingkun and the basics of the repertoire of Rogue Pi Wu by referring to the historical documents related to Yangzhou pinghua and the modern studies on the history of Yangzhou city, aiming to point out that Yang’s repertoire of Rogue Pi Wu is of great research value to the study on Yangzhou storytelling. In addition, the origins and values of this thesis and the methodology adopted in conducting the present research are introduced.展开更多

This evidence includes different designs, as a result an integrative review is needed that can determine the impact and value of storytelling interventions for people with cancer. Aims: To undertake an integrative review of evidence identifying the impact and outcomes from storytelling interventions for people with cancer. Methods: An integrative review of group based storytelling interventions using a qualitative led-synthesis. Results: Eleven studies were identified with a total of 493 (49 female, 16 male, 428 not disclosed) people included. Two major themes were identified: 1) content of interaction and 2) outcomes from the interventions. Six sub-themes were identified. The results provided a unique insight into the psycho-emotional impact of storytelling interventions. Conclusions: It is essential that health care professionals understand the core benefits of storytelling for people with cancer. Further interventions are needed to identify an approach which could be applied within clinical settings.展开更多

Survival rates for pediatric oncology patients are improved, making it necessary to investigate the psychosocial perspectives of these children. This research began following a comprehensive review of the scientific literature and identification of a gap as it pertains to using DST as an avenue for acquiring data about this aggregate of patients. The purpose of this project was to explore the use of DST among pediatric cancer patients and their perspectives regarding diagnosis. We employed a qualitative case study design with two oncology patients between the ages of 11 - 17 years. The narrative, digital story, and field notes comprise the qualitative data. DST narratives and field notes were analyzed using qualitative content analysis to extract themes. Findings will provide the foundation for future research to explore the use of DST as both an intervention and data collection method in this population.展开更多
