The coefficients of friction and squeezing of the key blocks comer in the roof structure of underground coalface are key factors to roof structure stability quantitative analysis. In this paper, through the special test of three-type corner friction and squeez- ing of real rock specimens, and physical simulation test on the roof key blocks of roof structure as well as the finite element calcula- tion of the corner stress distribution and failure mechanism, the characteristics of friction and squeezing of the roof key blocks comer are revealed. It is found that the friction angle of the roof key blocks corner is the residual friction angle, and the frictional angle of the roof key blocks is 22-32° (average 27°), so the friction coefficient is determined as 0.5. It also found the squeezing strength is less than the uniaxial strength, and the squeezing coefficient of the roof blocks corner is determined as 0.4. Based on the results, the ground control theory can be updated from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis. 展开更多

A next generation high power arc plasma system based on building block structure is presented. The whole arc plasma inverter system is composed of 12 paralleled units to increase the system output capability. The hierarchical control system is adopted to improve the reliability and flexibility of the high power arc plasma inverter. To ensure the reliable turn on and off of the IGBT module in each building block unit, a special pulse drive circuit is designed by using pulse transformer. The experimental result indicates that the high power arc plasma inverter system can transfer 300 kW arc plasma energy reliably with high efficiency. 展开更多

The deformation and failure of mining slopes in layered rocks predominantly result from shear landslides.However,the instability process of the Pusa rock avalanche in Guizhou,China,revealed a unique damage phenomenon:prominent breaking and toppling of rock blocks occurred in the central section of the mountain,with a lack of commonly observed shear landslide features.This paper aims to investigate the underlying reasons behind this distinctive damage pattern.The study employs various methods including geological survey,UAV aerial survey,physical simulation,and discrete element numerical simulation.The findings indicate that the geological conditions,characterized by a hard upper layer and a soft lower layer along with underground mining activities,play a significant role in triggering the landslide.Furthermore,the presence of a columnar structured rock mass emerges as the primary factor influencing the instability of the Pusa rock avalanche.To elucidate the mining failure mechanism of the rock mass with vertical joints,we propose a"subsidence-buckling"failure model.Following the subsidence and collapse of the roof rock mass in the goaf,the columnar rock mass in the upper and middle portions of the slope undergoes deflection and deformation,forming a three-hinged arch structure.This structural configuration converts the pressure exerted by the overlying rock mass into both vertical pressure and lateral thrust.Under the influence of external loads,the slope experiences buckling failure,ultimately leading to instability upon fragmentation.By shedding light on these findings,this study contributes to a better understanding of the spatiotemporal evolution of mining slope fractures and their impact on slope stability. 展开更多

The structural feature shown on a remote sensing image is a synthetic result ofcombination of the deformations produced during the entire geological history of an area.Therefore, the respective tectonic stress field of each of the different stages in the complexdeformation of an area can be reconstructed in three steps: (1) geological structures formed atdifferent times are distinguished in remote sensing image interpretation; (2) structuraldeformation fields at different stages are determined by analyzing relationships betweenmicrostructures (joints and fractures) and the related structures (folds and faults); and (3)tectonic stress fields at different stages are respectively recovered through a study of the featuresof structural deformation fields in different periods. Circular structures and related circlular and radial joints are correlated in space to con-cealed structural rises. The authors propose a new method for establishing a natural model ofthe concealed structural rises and calculating the tectonic stress field by using quantitative dataof the remote sensing information of circular structures and related linear structures. 展开更多

According to the requirement of the project 'Establishment of the Physical Model of Earthquake PrecursorFields',this paper elucidates the train of thinking for research on the project and some scientific problems whichmust be studied i, the elucidation emphasizes that the core of this project is to study the conditions and processesof the generation of strong earthquakes. The paper first outlines the origin and development of the'strong-bodyearthquake-generating model' proposed by the author in the 1980;and then proves the reasonableness of themodel from three aspects, namely: deep structures, mechanical analysis and rock fracture experiments. Bystudying the tomographic image for the northern part of North China, it can be seen that the sources of strongearthquakes are all distributed in high-velocity bodies,or in the contact zone between high-velocity and lowvelocity bodies but nearer to the high-velocity body. It has been affirmed through studies of the mechanical modelsof hard and soft inclusions that the existence of a hard inclusion is an imPOrtant condition for the high concentration of large amounts of strain energy. A lot of theoretical and experimental studies have been made to investigate the conditions for rock instability; the results have consistently indicated that rock instability,sudden fracture and stress drop would be possible only if the stiffness of the source body is greater than the environmentalstiffness. 展开更多

Chiral supramolecules prepared by the additive-driven self-assembly of block copolymers provide a facile method to construct helical nanostructures. In this study, we investigated the chiral transfer from chiral tartaric acid to poly(styrene)-b-poly(ethylene oxide) using small-angle X-ray scattering,transmission electron microscopy, circular dichroism, and vibrational circular dichroism. The results showed that the chirality was transferred to both the segments of block copolymer irrespective of the interaction with the chiral additives and formation of helical phase structure. However, the chirality transfer was carried out using different methods: for poly(ethylene oxide) segments, the chirality transfer was carried out via direct hydrogen bond formation; for polystyrene segments, the chirality transfer was carried out via the cooperative motion of block copolymers during the thermal annealing. 展开更多

One type of covariance structure is known as blocked compound symmetry.Recently,Roy et al.(J Multivar Anal 144:81–90,2016)showed that,assuming this covariance structure,unbiased estimators are optimal under normality and described hypothesis testing for independence as an open problem.In this paper,we derive the distributions of unbiased estimators and consider hypothesis testing for independence.Representative test statistics such as the likelihood ratio criterion,Waldstatistic,Rao’s score statistic,and gradient statistic are derived,and we evaluate the accuracy of the test using these statistics through numerical simulations.The power of the Wald test is the largest when the dimension is high,and the power of the likelihood ratio test is the largest when the dimension is low. 展开更多

Sugar amino acids(SAAs), the carbohydrate derivatives bearing both amino and carboxylic acid functional groups, are important ones of these multifunctional building blocks, which can be used to create novel materials with potential applications as glycomimetics and peptidomimetics.
