Background:In response to the staggering global burden of conditions requiring emergency and essential surgery,the development of international surgical system strengthening(SSS)is fundamental to achieving universal,t...Background:In response to the staggering global burden of conditions requiring emergency and essential surgery,the development of international surgical system strengthening(SSS)is fundamental to achieving universal,timely,quality,and affordable surgical care.Opportunity exists in identifying optimal collaborative processes that both promote global surgery research and SSS,and include medical students.This study explores an education model to engage students in academic global surgery and SSS via institutional support for longitudinal research.Objectives:We set out to design a program to align global health education and longitudinal health systems research by creating an education model to engage medical students in academic global surgery and SSS.Program design and implementation:In 2015,medical schools in the United States and Colombia initiated a collaborative partnership for academic global surgery research and SSS.This included development of two longitudinal academic tracks in global health medical education and academic global surgery,which we differentiated by level of institutional resourcing.Herein is a retrospective evaluation of the first two years of this program by using commonly recognized academic output metrics.Main achievements:In the first two years of the program,there were 76 total applicants to the two longitudinal tracks.Six of the 16(37.5%)accepted students selected global surgery faculty as mentors(Acute Care Surgery faculty participating in SSS with Colombia).These global surgery students subsequently spent 24 total working weeks abroad over the two-year period participating in culminating research experiences in SSS.As a quantitative measure of the program’s success,the students collectively produced a total of twenty scholarly pieces in the form of accepted posters,abstracts,podium presentations,and manuscripts in partnership with Colombian research mentors.Policy implications:The establishment of scholarly global health education and research tracks has afforded our medical students an active role in international SSS through participation in academic global surgery research.We propose that these complementary programs can serve as a model for disseminated education and training of the future global systems-aware surgeon workforce with bidirectional growth in south and north regions with traditionally under-resourced SSS training programs.展开更多
The aim of the work is to evaluate the influence of physical activity character on concentration of macro-and microelements in hair of physically active students. 127 students of I-IV year of Physical Education progra...The aim of the work is to evaluate the influence of physical activity character on concentration of macro-and microelements in hair of physically active students. 127 students of I-IV year of Physical Education program at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences participated in the research, aged from 20 to 24. They were split into three groups. The first (I) group (n = 48) consisted of endurance sport athletes (skiers, biathlon athletes, middle and long distance runners, rowers and cyclists). The second group (II) (n = 61) was made up of the basketball, football, handball and volleyball players. The third group (III) consisted of combat sports (wrestling and boxing) athletes (n = 18). For establishing the concentration of macro- and microelements in hair, x-ray fluorescence method was applied, using CEP-1 ELVAX (MP.MN 3730-2011) device. The results showed that the hair of the students of Physical Education program, practicing endurance sports possessed more calcium, copper, manganese in comparison to the athletes practicing other sports. Concentration of the main elements--zinc, iron, selenium and chromium in the hair of combat sports representatives was statistically significant. Concentration of potassium was also the greatest in this group of the investigated. However, this group of athletes also possessed the greatest values of toxic elements (plumbum, arsenic) in their hair, comparing to the athletes of endurance sport and players. In their hair, hydrargyrum concentration was significantly greater comparing to the values of this element in players' hair. The greatest mean values of cadmium were established in players' hair.展开更多

In particular, the learning experience of Chinese nursing students has not been fully explored nor understood.Discussion: to enhance teaching and learning in international education contexts, and to cater better to international students, it is important to understand their experiences and perspectives. The results show that perceiving many affordances for learning to teach in their niches is of great significance for student teachers to improve their teaching competence. 文摘Purpose:By reviewing policies on higher education for international students,this article aims to investigate the change of social-historical context,policy issue,and policy solution and provide implications for policymaking.Design/Approach/Methods:The study used qualitative text analysis.One hundred and twelve policy papers were collected from the PKULAW database and the Ministry of Education official website.Deductive categories were constructed under themes like social-historical context,policy issue,and policy solution separately.Findings:Four stages have emerged from the text analysis.The policy focus witnessed a shift from openness to expansion and then to quality.The policies made by the central government changed a lot accordingly.China is increasingly active in higher education internationalization and eager to make the education for international students an attractive brand with high quality.To realize this target,policies should be made based on different types of international students.Additionally,it is necessary that policies provide detailed guidance and accelerate capacity building in all majors.Originality/Value:This study contributes to existing knowledge of higher education for international students in China by providing qualitative policy text analysis,and the insights gained from this study may be of assistance to policymaking in the future.

文摘Using statistical data on the implementing conditions of China's educational expenditure published by the state,this paper studies the Gini coefficient of the budget educational public expenditure per student in order to examine the concentration degree of the educational expenditure for China's basic education and analyze its balanced development condition.As the research shows,China's basic education is undergoing an unbalanced development due to diversified factors,which is mainly reflected as follows:firstly,the budget educational public expenditure presents a four-tiered appearance of the strong,the less strong,the less weak and the weak,which lead to a great discrepancy between the two opposing extremes;secondly,the compulsory education in rural areas is still confronted with great difficulties;thirdly,the general senior secondary education is loaded with the crisis of unbalance.Therefore,it is necessary to construct a balanced development policy framework of the basic education and pay close attention to the benefit and effectiveness of the educational input.In addition,it is also important to clearly stipulate the criterion of the government's educational allocation and to support the disadvantaged areas in order to promote the balanced development of the basic education.
