The granulite xeno- liths enclosed in Cenozoic basalt of Hannuoba, Hebei Province, China, contain four types of sulfide assemblages: isolate rotundity enclosed sulfides, intergranular sulfides between minerals, secondary sulfide inclusions ranging in linear, and fissure-filling sulfides. Electron microprobe analysis shows that the components of sulfides are Ni-poor pyrrhotite with the molar ratios of (Ni+Co+Cu)/Fe less than 0.2. The molar ratios of (Fe+Cu+Co+Ni)/S are less than 0.875 of normal pyrrhotite, and are less than those of mantle xeno- liths, reflecting a sulfur-saturated environment. Pyrrhotite in various occurrences contains some Au and Ag, with the averages of 0.19wt%-0.22wt% Au and 0.01wt%-0.02wt% Ag, showing the gold mineralization related to the granulitization of low crust. Ni, Co and Cu have a normal correlation with S in pyrrhotite, indicating that heavy metal elements have a same source similar to sulfur be- cause of the degasification of upper mantle.展开更多

We describe sulphide inclusions from unique ultramafic clots within mafic xenoliths, from the mafic xenoliths themselves, and from the three silica-rich host plutons in Tongling, China. For the first time, we are able to propose a general framework model for the evolution of sulphide melts during the evolution of mafic to felsic magmas from the upper mantle to the upper crust. The model improves our understanding of the sulphide melt evolution in upper mantle to upper crust magmas, and provides insight into the formation of stratabound skarn-type FeeCu polymetallic deposits associated with felsic magmatism, thus promising to play an important role during prospecting for such deposits.展开更多

For BNbRE steel, the state and the content of RE were measured, and the effects and the mechanisms of RE on sulfide inclusions, microstructure and properties of steel were determined. On the condition of increasing the cleanliness of steel, the mechanisms of RE in steel were changed to certain degree. Small amount of RE has the effect of cleaning, modifying inclusions and alloying in clean steel, too. With increasing the cleanliness of BNbRE steel, addition of RE should be decreased properly. Under experimental conditions, the optimum addition of RE is -0.01 % (mass fraction) for clean BNbRE steel, while RE can evidently improve plasticity and impact toughness of BNbRE steel.展开更多

The ^3He/^4He ratio varies from1.3 to 8.7 Ra(n=10, average: 5.1 Ra), whereas the ^40Ar/^36Ar ratio is from 285.3 to 314.7(n=10, average: 294.8). These results suggest that the He was derived from a mixture of MORB with variable amounts of seawater, but the Ar in the ore-forming fluids trapped in the sulfides is predominantly derived from seawater. The fluid inclusions of barite have a wide range of homogenization temperatures and salinities varying from 163℃ to 260℃ and 2.6 wt%to 8.5 wt% Na Cl equiv., respectively. It is suggested that the ore-forming fluids were produced by phase separation, which agreed with the present-day vent fluid study.展开更多

For heavy rail steel, the state and the content of La were measured, and the mechanisms and the effects of La on sulfide inclusions, microstracture and properties of steel were determined. Strip-like sulfides disappear in heavy rail steel with La/(O+S)〉3.50, which is shown that the metallurgical function of modifying sulfide inclusions has been achieved by La. La can fine the grain size of the austenite in heavy rail steel. Under the experimental condition, the plasticity and the impacting toughness of heavy rail steel with 0.005wt% La can evidently be improved.展开更多

The results indicate that slipping is the predominant effect and that sulfide inclusions extend along the rolling direction during the cold deformation of 316 LS. The strong austenite stability of 316 LS results in the formation of only a small quantity of deformation-induced martensite. The experimental results reveal that the strength, hardness, and yield ratio increased with increases in the reduction ratio, mainly due to work hardening, whereas the elongation decreased drastically, due to the combined effect of the work hardening and brittleness caused by the numerous sulfide inclusions. Electrochemically active sites on the surface of316 LS increased with an increased reduction ratio, which caused an increased current fluctuation in the passive zone. This also caused the breakdown potential( E_b) near the pitting zone to exhibit a gradual increase in the zigzag current shift to the left on the polarization curves. The E_b of 316 LS decreased with increases in the reduction ratio, mainly due to the extended sulfide inclusions, the increased dislocation density, and the deformation-induced martensite content.展开更多
