Unexpected Surface displacement in underground mines could lead to loss of lives, injuries, and economic losses. To reduce or neutralise the adverse effects of surface displacement, it is vital to monitor and accurately predict them and unravel their mechanisms. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) have proven effective in predicting complex problems. However, CNN neglects the dynamic dependency of the input in the temporal dimension, which affects surface displacement features. The Convolutional-LSTM model can dynamically learn the temporal dependency among input features via the feedback connections in the LSTM to improve accurate captures of surface displacement features. This study focused on evaluating the C-LSTM model in predicting surface displacement of underground mines and assessed the predictive capabilities and generalisation strength of using hybridised ANN models. Geodetic and geotechnical data gathered from a Gold Mine in Ghana was used. The three models were tested on experimental data collected at Monitoring Scan Point 3. It was observed from the prediction output that all the methods could provide applicable and practical results. However, using indicators like root mean square error (RMSE) and correlation coefficient (R) in assessing the output of the prediction, the C-LSTM had the best prediction output. This study contributes to the advancement of accurate and efficient prediction of surface displacement of underground mines, ultimately enhancing and assisting safety operations.展开更多

A model was firstly established to simulate the impact that UMM and HMS exert on monitoring points and surface deformation. The way that stripping and excavation amount varies with different slope angle, and the corresponding end slope stability were analyzed in the mode of LSSMM. Then a TOPSIS model was established by taking into account six indicators such as recovery ratio, technical complexity and adaptability, the impact on surface mining production, production safety and economic benefits. Finally, LSSMM was determined as the best mining method for mining ultra-thick coal seams in end slope in HSCM.展开更多

The aim of the study is to quantify the long term behavior. Satellite data(radar-interferometry) were analyzed to study an area of about 2 km^2 during the 18 years following the closure of the underground infrastructure and the flooding of the underground workings and rock mass. It was observed that, on average, a residual downward movement took place till 7–12 years after the closure, followed by a clear uplift. However, the first signs of an uplift occurred in certain sub-areas 3–4 years after the closure. Zones within the area studied were identified with either larger or smaller movements. However, the spatial variation of the surface subsidence or uplift could not be directly explained by the characteristics of mining.展开更多

Surface movement observation stations were established to monitor movement and deformation in one super-large working face. Based on field measurements, the surface movement and deformation characteristics were obtained, including angle parameters, subsidence prediction parameters, etc. Besides, the angle and subsidence prediction parameters in similar mining areas are summarized; the mechanism of surface movement and deformation was analyzed with the combination of key stratum theory, mining and geological conditions. The research also indicates that compared with conventional working faces, uniform subsidence area of the subsidence trough in the windy and sandy region is larger, the trough margins are relative steep and deformation values present convergence at the margins, the extent of the trough shrink towards the goaf and the influence time of mining activities lasts shorter; the overlying rock movement and breaking characteristics presents regional particularity in the study area, while the single key stratum, thin bedrock and thick sand that can rapidly propagate movement and deformation are the deep factors, contributing to it.展开更多

Studies on vertical surface well technology in the Huainan Coal Mining area play a role in demonstration in the use of clean, new energy resources, preventing and reducing coal mine gas accidents and protecting the environment. Based on the practice of gas drainage engineering of pressure relief coalbed methane in vertical surface wells and combined with relative geological and exploration en- gineering theories, the design principles of design and structure of wells of pressure relief coalbed methane in vertical surface wells are studied. The effects of extraction and their causes are discussed and the impact of geological conditions on gas production of the vertical surface wells are analyzed. The results indicate that in mining areas with high concentrations of gas, where tectonic coal developed, a success rate of pressure relief coalbed methane in surface vertical well is high and single well production usually great. But deformation due to coal exploitation could damage boreholes and cause breaks in the connection between aquifers and bore-holes, which could induce a decrease, even a complete halt in gas production of a single well. The design of well site location and wellbore configuration are the key for technology. The development of the geological conditions for coalbed methane have a significant effect on gas production of coalbed methane wells.展开更多

Presently, the complexity of the system, the interference between sub-systems and the lag in management skills has been a bottle neck for improving productivity of the system. Based on the fact that the traditional tools for safety analysis have been insufficient to evaluate systematically and dynamically the safety risks, this paper tries to create a virtual reality tool consisting of human, machine and mines, using Pro/E and the 3D MAX software in order to evaluate visually the operations of typical mining equipment, such as the bucket wheel excavator (BWE), the shovel, the truck and the dragline. Within this virtual world, the behavior of the system, such as interaction, interference and potential risk can be replayed and reviewed visually. The objective of the study is to identify the critical safety issues of the system and to provide a convenient and powerful tool for safety training and safety management.展开更多

These parameters usually interact with one another and some of them have the characteristic of fuzziness. Current approaches to predicting the subsidence cannot take into account of such interactions and fuzziness. In order to overcome this disadvantage, many mining induced surface subsidence cases were accumulated, and an artificial neuro fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) was used to set up 4 ANFIS models to predict the rise angle, dip angle, center angle and the maximum subsidence, respectively. The fitting and generalization prediction capabilities of the models were tested. The test results show that the models have very good fitting and generalization prediction capabilities and the approach can be applied to predict the mining induced surface subsidence.展开更多

文摘The broad objective of this research was to improve current surface mining practices and reduce negative environmental impact of overburden removal in West Virginia(WV).The specific objectives were to(i)compare conventional surface mining method(drilling, blasting, digging, and loading)to a surface miner(SM)method, and(ii)apply the analytical hierarchy process(AHP)to help select the optimal mining method based on production, cost and environmental criteria. The design and the procedures used in this research involve five interrelated modules:(i)rock properties of overburden in WV,(ii)drilling and blasting,(iii)digging and loading,(iv)SM method, and(v)comparative analysis and selection of the optimal mining method by AHP.Results of this research indicate that application of SM method would yield higher cost of overburden removal than conventional mining methods in rocks with a high unconfined compressive strength and abrasivity.A significant advantage of SM method, where applicable,is the elimination of the negative environmental impacts associated with blasting.

文摘Modem surface mines, either mono-system or multi-systems, need a large fleet of equipment consisting of excavators, loaders, haulers and auxiliary machines. The objective of the study is to identify the critical safety issues of the system and to provide a convenient and powerful tool for safety training and safety management.

文摘The surface deformation after fully mechanized back filling mining was analyzed. The surface deformation for different backfill materials was predicted by an equivalent mining height model and numerical simulations. The results suggest that:(1) As the elastic modulus,E,of the backfill material increases the surface subsidence decreases. The rate of subsidence decrease drops after E is larger than 5 GPa;(2) Fully mechanized back fill mining technology can effectively control surface deformation. The resulting surface deformation is within the specification grade I,which means surface maintenance is not needed.A site survey showed that the equivalent mining height model is capable of predicting and analyzing surface deformation and that the model is conservative enough for engineering safety. Finally, the significance of establishing a complete error correction system based on error analysis and correction is discussed.
文摘The purpose of this research was to develop a new approach in determination of overhaul and maintenance cost of loading equipment in surface mining. Two statistical models including univariate exponential regression (UER) and multivariate linear regression (MLR) were used in this study. Loading equipment parameters such as bucket capacity, machine weight, engine power, boom length, digging depth, and dumping height were considered as variables. The results obtained by models and mean absolute error rate indicate that these models can be applied as the useful tool in determination of overhaul and maintenance cost of loading equipment. The results of this study can be used by the decision-makers for the specific surface mining operations.

文摘There are many parameters influencing mining induced surface subsidence. The test results show that the models have very good fitting and generalization prediction capabilities and the approach can be applied to predict the mining induced surface subsidence.
