As a consequence of demonstrated technological, economical and energetic advantages in multiple literature evaluations concerning the large scale wind-compressed air hybrid storage system with gas turbines, the utilization of a hybrid wind-diesel system with compressed air storage (HWDCAS) has been frequently explored. These will mainly have average or small scale application such as the powering of isolated sites. It has been proven in numerous studies that the HWDCAS combined with an additional supercharging of the diesel engines will contribute to the increase of the power and efficiency of the diesel engine, the reduction of both fuel consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG). This article presents the obtained results from experimental validation of the selected design with an aim to valorize this innovative solution and become trustworthy.展开更多

At this time, mud invasion has just started, mudcake has not formed entirely and the formation pressure is not stable. Therefore, it is important to study the influence of the downhole dynamic environment on pressure testing and fluid sampling. This paper applies an oil-water two phase finite element model to study the influence of mudcake quality and mud filtrate invasion on supercharge pressure, pretest and sampling in the reservoirs of different permeability. However, the study is only for the cases with water based mud in the wellbore. The results illustrate that the mudcake quality has a significant influence on the supercharge pressure and fluid sampling, while the level of mud filtrate invasion has a strong impact on pressure testing and sampling. In addition, in-situ formation pressure testing is more difficult in low permeability reservoirs as the mud filtrate invasion is deeper and therefore degrades the quality of fluid sampling. Finally, a field example from an oil field on the Alaskan North Slope is presented to validate the numerical studies of the effects of downhole dynamic conditions on formation testing while drilling.展开更多

The stability of superchargers operation is assessed in relation to the phenomenon of surge. Solution of this problem amounts to the development and numerical analysis of a set of ordinary differential equations. The set describes transmission of gas through a compressor shop as a fluid dynamics model with lumped parameters. The proposed method is oriented to wide application by specialists working in the gas industry. The practical application of this method can use all-purpose programming and mathematical software available to specialists of gas companies.展开更多

Shock resistance was analyzed by the time-domain simulation method. After exhaustive simulations, the effect of air pressure induced by different working conditions on the shock response of a supercharged boiler was reviewed, leading to conclusions about the variability of structural response with different loading parameters. In order to simulate the real impulsive environments of supercharged boilers, the integration of equipment and ship structure was then primarily used to analyze shock response. These distinctly different equipment shock test methods, run under equivalent work conditions, were compared and the causes of discrepancy were analyzed. The main purpose of this paper is to present references for the anti-shock design of marine supercharged boilers.展开更多

Methods The lubrication model between the skirt of piston and liner is established by means of piston dynamics, combined with the hydrody namic lubrication equation. Optimized numerical analysis method is employed in s olving the dynamics and lubrication equations. The analyses about piston strike under two combustion gas pressures are performed. Results The p eak values of maximum eccentricity under supercharge condition are much greater than under non-supercharge condition, which means a stronger impulsion of pisto n to cylinder wall and a greater possibility of scuffing. The horizontal velocit ies of piston in supercharge condition are larger, which illuminate the more uns table motion state. Conclusion The analysis gives a new conclus ion. Combustion gas pressure plays an important role in the piston strike motion . Influences of supercharge should be taken into account so that the traditional product test items can be improved.展开更多

The self-learning algorithm creates models of the object under consideration. The models are formed periodically through a certain time period. The model includes a set of functions that can describe whole object, or a part of the object, or a specified functionality of the object. Thus, information about fault location can be obtained. During operation of the object the algorithm collects data received from sensors. Then the algorithm creates samples related to steady state operation. Clustering of those samples is used for the functions definition. Values of the functions in the centers of clusters are stored in the computer’s memory. To illustrate the considered approach, its application to the diagnosis of turbomachines is described.展开更多

Herein, based on our previously developed DNA-mediated supercharged green fluorescent protein(Sc GFP)/graphene oxide(GO) interaction, coupled with methylation-initiated template-free DNA polymerization, we propose a novel fluorescence assay strategy for sensitive detection of DNA MTase activity. A hairpin DNA with a methylation-sensitive site and an amino-modified 3′-terminal(DNA-1) was designed and worked as a starting molecule. In the presence of DNA MTase, methylation-sensitive restriction endonuclease, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(Td T), DNA-1 can be sequentially methylated, cleaved, and further elongated. The resulting long DNA fragments quickly bind with Sc GFP and form the Sc GFP/DNA nanocomplex. Such nanocomplex can effectively protect Sc GFP from being adsorbed and quenched by GO. Without the methylation-initiated DNA polymerization, the fluorescence of Sc GFP will be quenched by GO. Thus, the DNA MTase activity, which is proportional to the amount of DNA polymerization products, can be measured by reading the fluorescence of Sc GFP/GO. The method was successfully used to detect the activity of DNA adenine methylation(Dam) MTase with a wide linear range(0.1–100 U/m L) and a low detection limit of 0.1 U/m L. In addition, the method showed high selectivity and the potential to be applied in a complex sample. Furthermore, this study was successfully extended to evaluate the inhibition effect of 5-fluorouracil on Dam MTase activity and detect Td T activity.展开更多
