Purpose In recent years,with the further development of superconducting technology,superconducting devices have been applied in particle accelerators and synchrotron radiation light source devices.As a new type of heat transfer structure,helium cryogenic oscillating heat pipe can be used to balance local hot spots in superconductors and improve heat transfer performance.Methods In this paper,a two-dimensional two-turns helium cryogenic oscillating heat pipe model is established.The flow performance of helium cryogenic oscillating heat pipe was analyzed by CFD simulation.Results and conclusion The results show that the development of flow pattern in the helium cryogenic oscillating heat pipe first forms bubble flow under the heating of the evaporation section,and then gradually forms slug flow and annular flow.The process consists of initial stage,transition stage and running stage.In the running stage,the effective thermal conductivity of COHP oscillates around 15,000 W/(m·K). 展开更多

Superconducting linear accelerators(SCL)have a high acceleration gradient and are capable of operating in a high-duty factor mode.For high-power and high-intensity SCL,the design of beam dynamics generally follows the principle that the zero-current periodic phase advance(σ0)of each degree of freedom is less than 90°to avoid envelope instability caused by space charge.However,this principle is obtained under the condition of a completely periodic focusing channel,and it is ambiguous for pseudoperiodic structures,such as linear accelerators.Although transverse beam dynamics without acceleration have been studied by other researchers,it appears that there are some connections between pure 2D and 3D beam dynamics.Based on these two points,five focusing schemes for the solenoid and quadrupole doublet channels were designed to simulate the beam behavior with non-constantσ0.Among them,the four schemes follow the characteristics of variation in the zero-current longitudinal phase advance(σ0l)under a constant acceleration gradient and synchronous phase.The zero-current transverse phase advance(σ0t)is consistent withσ0l,based on the equipartition requirement.The initialσ0twas set to 120°,110°,100°,and 90°,and was then gradually decreased to approximately 40°at the end of the channel.The last scheme maintains the maximumσ0tof88°by reducing the acceleration gradient of the corresponding cavities,until the point at whichσ0tequals88°with a normal gradient.Using the stopbands obtained from the linearized envelope equations and multiparticle particle-in-cell(PIC)simulations,the transport properties of both continuous and 3D-bunched beams with the acceleration of the five focusing schemes were studied.It was found that for a CW beam,when tune depression>0.7,σ0tcan break through 90°when the beams were transported in both solenoid and quadrupole doublet periodic focusing channels.When tune depression<0.7,the conclusions were different.For the solenoid focusing system,σ0tcan partially break through 90°,and the beam quality is not significantly affected.For the quadrupole doublet focusing system,a partial breakthrough of 90°has a greater impact on the beam quality.The same conclusions were obtained for a bunched beam with acceleration. 展开更多

The Shanghai High Repetition Rate XFEL and Extreme Light Facility(SHINE)project will use 6001.3 GHz fundamental power couplers,which are modified based on TTF-Ⅲ power couplers,for continuous-wave operation with input power up to approximately 7 kW.The first batch of 20 sets of 1.3 GHz coupler prototypes was fabricated from three domestic manufacturers for the SHINE project.To better characterize the radio frequency conditioning phenomena for validating the performance of power couplers,a room temperature test stand was designed,constructed,and commissioned for the SHINE 1.3 GHz power couplers.In addition,a horizontal test cryostat was built to test the 1.3 GHz superconducting cavities,fundamental power couplers,tuners,and other components as a set.The results of these tests indicate that the 1.3 GHz couplers are capable of handling up to 14 kW continuous waves.Herein,the main aspects of the radio frequency design and construction of the test stand,along with the test results of the high-power conditioning of the 1.3 GHz couplers,are described. 展开更多

The emittance grow... In the SSRF Phase-II beamline project, a superconducting wiggler(SW) will be installed in the electron storage ring. It may greatly impact on the beam dynamics due to the very high magnetic field. The emittance growth becomes a major problem, even after correction of the beam optics. A local achromatic lattice is studied, in order to combat the emittance growth and keep the performance of the SSRF storage ring as high as possible. Other effects of the SW are also simulated and optimized, including the beta beating, the tune shift, the dynamic aperture, and the field error effects. 展开更多

A coaxial HOM coupler for a superconducting RF cavity and its low-power measurement results

A resonant buildup of beam-induced fields in a superconducting radio frequency (RF) cavity may make a beam unstable or a superconducting RF cavity quench. Higher-order mode (HOM) couplers are used for damping higher-order modes to avoid such a resonant buildup. A coaxial HOM coupler based on the TTF (TESLA Test Facility) HOM coupler has been designed for the superconducting RF cavities at the Proton Engineering Frontier Project (PEFP) in order to overcome notch frequency shift and feed-through tip melting issues. In order to confirm the HOM coupler design and finalize its structural dimensions, two prototype HOM couplers have been fabricated and tested. Low-power testing and measurement of the HOM couplers has shown that the HOM coupler has good filter properties and can fully meet the damping requirements of the PEFP low-beta superconducting RF linac. 展开更多

Background In superconductive linear accelerator,the performance and stability can be impacted by gas adsorbed on cryogenic surfaces adversely.The cryogenic devices usually work at 4.2 K or 1.9 K and are refrigerated by normal or super fluid liquid helium,respectively.Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the character of gas migration in cryogenic tubes.Method Adsorption coefficient for hydrogen at 4.2 K is measured by experimental study.Then,a gas migration model is established based on the experimental results to depict the hydrogen migration process in cryogenic tubes.Results The experimental results and model analysis indicated that at cryogenic temperature(4.2 K),adsorption coefficient for hydrogen is very close to 1,which is several orders higher than the adsorption coefficient at room temperature,resulting in a unique pressure distribution pattern in cryogenic tubes when compared with the pressure distribution in room temperature tubes.Conclusions At 4.2 K or 1.9 K,the gas migration process is obviously different from the process at room temperature and is significantly affected by the gas adsorption on the cryogenic surfaces.The model established in this article can be applied not only to hydrogen migration in cryogenic tubes but also to other gas migration in tubes with high adsorption coefficient. 展开更多

A theoretical model and a numerical simulation are used to study the relationship between the RF performance and the geometric parameters of the cavity. In this paper, the optimization of the spoke cavity is described in detail. The RF simulation gives the optimum parameters Epk/Zacc of 2.65 and Bpk/Eacc of 5.22 mT/(MV/m). The mechanical properties of the cavity are also studied. Two stiff ribs are used to offer a credible mechanical stability. 展开更多
