While the Network Coding cooperative relaying (NC-relaying) has the merit of high spectral efficiency,Superposition Coding relaying (SC-relaying) has the merit of high throughput. In this paper,a novel concept, coded cooperative relaying,is presented, which is a unified scheme of the NC-relaying and SC-relaying. For the SC-relaying strategy which can be considered one-way coded relaying scheme with multi-access channel, the close-form solution of the outage probabilities of the basic signal and additional signal are obtained firstly. Secondly, the Diversity-and-Multiplexing Tradeoff (DMT) characteristics of basic signal and additional signal are investigated entirely as well as the optimal close-form solutions. The compared numerical analysis shows the evaluation error of throughput based on the close-form solution is about 0.15 nats, which is within the acceptable error range. Due to the mutual effect between the both source signals, the available maximal values of the two multiplexing gains are less than 1. 展开更多

An achievable rate region for the asynchronous multiple access channel with feedback is established through the use of superposition coding, list decoding and time sharing. The calculation results demonstrate that lack of synchronization does not affect the achievable rate region when the code block length tends to infinity, and that if the length of the code word is finite, especially not sufficiently larger than a fixed maximal delay, the asynchronization will cause a loss of the rate region. The amount of such a loss with its explanation for the reason is given, and the difference between the losses for the asynchronous multiple access channel with and without feedback is also discussed in this paper. 展开更多

A scenario where one 'dumb' radio and multiple cognitive radios communicating simultaneously with a common receiver is considered. In this paper, we derive an achievable rate region of the multiple-user cognitive multiple-access channel (MUCMAC) under both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and rayleigh fading channel, by using a combination of multiple user dirty paper coding (DPC) and superposition coding. Through cognition, it is assumed that the secondary users (SUs) are able to obtain the message of the primary user (PU) non-causally beforehand. Using this side information, the SUs can perform multiple user DPC to avoid the interference from the SU. Besides, the SUs can also allocate part of their transmit power to aid the PU, using superposition coding. Therefore, the capacity region of traditional multiple-access channel (MAC) can be enlarged. Moreover, some asymptotic results are shown as the number of SUs increases. In the AWGN case, it is illustrated that the maximum achievable rate of the PU grows logarithmically with the increase of the number of SUs, whereas in the Rayleigh case, we show that the cognitive gain will increase with the decreasing of the channel signal to noise ratio (SNR). 展开更多
