The crystals of quartz,lithium,and piezoelectric ceramics have a piezoelectric effect as their major characteristic.The surface acoustic wave filter(SAWF) was designed by using this property.However,the experimental cost of the fabrication of SAWF is higher than that of mechanical filter or LC filter.Through the RLC(resistor,inductor and capacitor) network equivalent circuit and the interdigital transducer(IDT) equivalent circuit model,the electromotive force,the mechanical impedance of piezoelectric plate,and the wave number of Mason circuit model were researched.The equivalent circuit can be used to reduce product development costs and shorten the development cycle.Comparing simulation result by Pspice software with the theory of SAWF,the simulated waveform is similar to theory measurement,and the equivalent circuit model is verified. 展开更多

A novel photonic crystal fiber(PCF) polarization filter is designed and fabricated; it consists of two large apertures coated with gold. The asymmetric structure separates the resonance position in the vertical direction well. Due to the metal layer covering, loss is greatly improved. Finite element method is applied for numerical simulation. The influences of varying gold thickness and varying the diameters and the center positions of the larger apertures on filtering performance are evaluated. Theory of coupling between surface plasma and core mode is introduced. By modulating the parameters, we realize a single polarization filter at 1.31 μm and 1.55 μm. The basal mode loss in the y direction can reach 1408.80 dB/cm at 1.31 μm and 1911.22 dB/cm at 1.55 μm respectively, but basal mode loss in the x direction is relatively small, 0.82 dB/cm and 1.87 dB/cm. In addition, two kinds of broadband polarization filters are proposed. If the fiber length is set to 200 μm,the extinction ratio is greater than 20 dB with width of 570 nm and 490 nm. Laser shock peening is a well-known method for extending the fatigue life of metal components by introducing near-surface compressive residual stress. The surface acoustic waves (SAWs) are dispersive when the near-surface properties of materials are changed. So the near-surface properties (such as the thickness of hardened layers, elastic properties, residual stresses, etc.) can be analyzed by the phase velocity dispersion. To study the propagation of SAWs in metal samples after peening, a more reasonable experimental method of broadband excitation and reception is introduced. The ultrasonic signals are excited by laser and received by polyvinylindene fluoride (PVDF) transducer. The SAW signals in aluminum alloy materials with different impact times by laser shock peening are detected. Signal spectrum and phase velocity dispersion curves of SAWs are analyzed. High Q reflection filter using a gradient-index(GI) membrane with a grating surface is proposed. High Q reflection filter using a gradient-index(GI) membrane with a grating surface is proposed. The thickness of GI membrane is very small comparing with the traditional multilayer reflection filter or the GI reflection filter, and the GI membrane can also break the restriction of the resonant excitation condition of the conventional guided-mode resonance(GMR) filter. High Q filtering features can be maintained even on the high-index substrate. The grating thickness of the GI membrane filter can be used to select the resonance wavelength with different quality factors(QFs), the reflection peak is blue-shifted, and the QF is decreased from 554.4 to 207.8 as the grating thickness is increased from 50 nm to 150 nm. The gradient coefficient of the GI membrane filter can be used to tailor the number of the reflection channels. The resonant excitations of high order waveguide modes confined in the GI membrane are responsible for the high Q filtering properties with multiple channels. 展开更多

The structure and morphology of A1 interdigital transducers as a function of Ni underlayer thickness were studied. The A1 (111) texture intensity increases first and then decreases as Ni underlayer thickness increases. 6-nm Ni underlayer results in the strongest A1 (111) texture with flattest surface, which exhibits almost 10 times longer life in electromigration measurement than those without Ni underlayer. 1.5 GHz surface acoustic wave filters fabri- cated with A1 film on 6-nm Ni underlayer also have improved power durability compared with those without Ni underlayer from 29.0 to 32.5 dBm. It is observed that those fine grains in the 6-nm Ni underlayer greatly enhance A1 (111) texture. Together with increased adhesion force, strong A1 (111) texture accounts for the improved resistance to electromigration and acoustomigration via the reduction of gains boundaries, resistivity, and fine grains at the interface, which is promising for high power surface acoustic wave filters. 展开更多

Thermal and salt dual stimuli-responsive filter-paper-based membranes were prepared by UV-induced grafting of NIPAM-based polymers on paper surface. The grafting ratio could be controlled by monomer concentration during grafting polymerization. The results from pressure drop measurement of the mobile phase flowed cross the membrane demonstrate that an appropriate grafting ratio would be 8%-10%. Protein adsorption on the membrane through hydrophobic interaction could be promoted by increasing temperature and lyotropic salt concentration. The effect of grafted polymer structure on protein binding performance was studied. Filter paper grafted with NIPAM-based branched copolymer consisting of hydrophobic monomer moieties shows ten times higher protein binding capacity than that of the original filter paper. The separation of plasma proteins using the dual stimuli-responsive membrane was examined to demonstrate feasible application for hydrophobic interaction chromatographic separation of proteins. 展开更多

Analytical solutions are presented for the wave equation for the electrode-piezoelectric-electrode sandwich structure in film bulk acoustic resonators (FBAR). The impedance for lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT)-based FBAR was derived using the proper boundary conditions and material parameters. A method is presented to adjust the resonant frequency based on the process and material properties. Ferroelectric-based radio-frequency filters were designed using FBARs. An accurate result is given for the filter impedance which can be used for other piezoelectric devices. 展开更多
