Although studies on sustainable initiatives among logistics service providers (LSP) have been increasing in the extant literature, still little investigation has been performed between LSPs and shippers. The present paper aims to demonstrate award-gained sustainable logistics service initiatives implemented during the period 2006-2017 in Japan. Different with questionnaire- and interview-based studies employed in literature, we use text mining technique to explore the co-occurring links of data, i.e. connections of the practices, to present the collaborative sustainability actions carried out through providing and requiring logistics services. In contrast to the research regarding green supply chain management focused on manufacturing perspective, this study is positioned in the dual sides of consignors and logistics business operators, to depict their combined effort in achieving sustainability goals. The results of the study showed that text mining technique is useful for summarizing and presenting data in this research area. However, much remains to be learned about how to deal with the data more means-end logically for revealing more indirect associations between the data.展开更多

There are different limitations in the use of every source of electric energy but in consideration of minimum environmental impact, exclusively inherently low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission, and also, high life time with maximum power production efficiency, nuclear would be the best choice. From this study it was found that several difficulties involved in the ADS based energy production, more specifically, difficulties regarding the target parameters, coding system, waste management, etc. Hence suggestions from this study points out that if it is possible to ensure more energy efficient production of enriched uranium, improved nuclear fuels and reactors that allow greater utilization, extended life times for nuclear power plants (NPPs) that reduce the need to build new facilities, improved coding system capable of minimizing the discrepancy between theoretical and experimental calculation of spallation products, improved data library with sufficiently available high energy nuclear data to perform a better coding analysis, and finally, considering the environmental safety if the disposal of the radioactive wastes could manage more effectively, nuclear energy would then play a significant role in minimizing future energy crisis worldwide as well as to save our loving green earth.展开更多

It is evident that, if what is sought is a sustainable energy future, the current energy model implemented in certain countries and regions of the world is not the most adequate and makes the achievement of this goal unfeasible. This situation threatens to greatly alter our ecosystems and our social structures, and one of the key actions to mitigate it is, undeniably, the generalization of the use of renewable energy sources;and specifically, the non-conventional sources, referring to solar and wind, technologies that comply with the principle of energy complementarity;however, there are other possible solutions such as the deployment of programs that consider efficient cooking technologies;involving with it is everything related to energy security and equity, as well as environmental protection. In this article, as a technology to be considered to reduce and mitigate the Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions, an analysis of the efficiency assessment of electric induction cooktops and the determination of their potential energy savings are carried out. The impact of these results is taken into consideration and a series of conclusions and recommendations for improvement are issued.展开更多

Starting from the structural scalability of civil tiltrotors, design strategy and requirements for UAVs, and advanced composite materials, the increased speed and productivity requirements for tiltrotors have spawned several investigations associated with proprotor aero elastic stability augmentation and aerodynamic performance enhancements. The research emphasized the Large Civil Tilt Rotor as the configuration with the best potential to meet the technology goals, and the design, including the challenges of the Large Civil Tilt Rotor (LCTR). The design presented was economically competitive, with the potential for substantial impact on the air transportation system. The research includes some manufacturers of helicopters, drones and tiltrotors carrying out design studies and production of prototypes, as well as research projects aimed at designing, manufacturing, qualifying, and flight-testing the new wing of the Next-Generation Civil Tiltrotor Technology Demonstrator. Promises of Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft, UAVs, Digitalization of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and the “U-space” concept are discussed in the paper. The eight SUMP principles and possibilities of future advancements are emphasized.展开更多

On this regard, the term “green economy” came into light. The Asian Center for Environment Management and Sustainable Development (AEMS) then explored the “green economy” concept in Nepal through a regional workshop on May 2012 with participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Canada, UK and Nepal. Consequently, the hydropower sector of Nepal was recognized as one of the most feasible and potential sector for green economy. Therefore, various case studies of hydropower projects, interaction programs and interviews with relevant personnel were carried out for this study to analyze the scope of hydropower in achieving the three important attributes of green economy, namely—resource efficiency, low carbon and social inclusion. Nepal is rich in water resources;it is therefore possible to use our abundant water resource in an efficient manner. Likewise, the end product of hydropower is clean energy though carbon emission is involved during the construction. It shows the potential to replace considerable amount of carbon emission from biomass based energy resources. Similarly, hydropower project exhibits positive implication on the local society besides making electricity available to the whole nation. The locals also get floating shares and royalty benefits to develop the project affected area. However, the affected areas now have minimal share in royalty. Besides, this study also addresses the issues of policy implication and challenges. All the relevant issues of hydropower as studied reveal that there are required provisions at place in Nepal for hydropower sector to fit perfectly in green economy concept, if only, the prevalent issues are handled efficiently and effectively by the relevant sectors.展开更多

Green energies like hydropower, solar energy and biomass are already in use with biomass leading, followed by hydropower. This paper explores and analyses the use of hydropower and biomass in Mozambique with the focus being on the extent of their use in the country and the impacts associated with their use. It also aims to look at policies that have been implemented to promote the use of these renewable sources of energy, and it discusses the success of the implementation of these policies and if they have helped in making the use of biomass and hydropower sustainable. The environmental impact of the use of green energies is minimum if compared to fossil fuels but this paper aims to show that there is concern in their use, especially the use of Biomass as there is little consideration being given to its environmental footprint. Mozambique has great potential for hydropower and bioenergy, but potential does not depict the reality as there are several issues to consider before the implementation of such in a developing country like Mozambique and this work explores the existence of issues that affect or hinder the growth and the sustainability of the use Biomass and Hydropower, and this is crucial in policy revision and implementation.展开更多
