This study aimed to examine the relationship between junior high school novice English teachers’emotion regulation and job burnout. To achieve this purpose,a survey consisting of various scales was administered to 133 primary school teachers selected from Yunnan Province in China.Statistical analyses revealed gender differences in job burnout and emotion regulation among these teachers and highlighted the association between these two variables. The findings established that male novice English teachers in junior schools generally experience lower levels of job burnout and possess better emotion regulation skills compared to their female counterparts.Additionally,a strong negative correlation was identified between job burnout and emotional regulation skills, indicating that the stronger the emotional regulation skills, the less likely novice English teachers are to experience job burnout. The study further emphasized caution in the use of cognitive reappraisal as an emotion regulation strategy,as it may have an adverse effect on mitigating job burnout. This study concluded with recommendations for providing junior high school novice English teachers with opportunities to develop and enhance their emotion regulation skills to reduce job burnout effectively. 展开更多

An authoritative parenting style has been shown to promote children’s emotion regulation in European-American family studies. However, little is known about how sleep problems and the child’s sibling status in Chinese families affect this relationship.Based on family system theory, this study attempts to better understand the relationship between authoritative parenting style and emotion regulation.Mothers of preschool children in Chinese kindergartens completed questionnaires about their children’s sleep habits, their authoritative parenting styles, and children’s emotion regulation.A total of 531 children participated in this study. Results showed that authoritative parenting was positively associated with emotional regulation.Sleep problems mediated the effects of authoritative parenting style on emotion regulation. The child’s sibling status moderated the mediating effects of sleep problems in authoritative parenting and emotion regulation relationships.Specifically, the relationship between the authoritative parenting style and sleep problems was significant for only children, while birth order had no significant influence on the authoritative parenting style and sleep problems in two-child families. These findings suggest that a lowauthoritative parenting style predicts low emotion regulation through sleep problems, and this depends on the child’s sibling status, indicating that children without siblings may impair emotion regulation due to increased sleep problems. 展开更多

With the development of the times and the progress of the society, the ancient education mode can no longer meet the requirements of the times. The concept of educating people must keep pace with the times. The way teachers and students get along is no longer like in ancient times, where teachers teach students to listen. In the new era,it is necessary to build a new model of interaction between teachers and students. If educators pay attention and come to understand students’psychology, listen to students’aspirations, tend to students’emotions, grow in love for education, and treat students from their hearts, they would be able to win the favor of students.Paying attention to students’emotional value can promote emotional communication between teachers and students. It is possible to adapt to the requirements of the new era for the construction of morality and ethics among teachers by caring for students’emotional value. 展开更多

Tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia are the major symptoms of the disease. These motor impairments are often accompanied by affective and emotional dysfunctions which have been largely studied over the last decade. The aim of this study was to investigate emotional processing organization in the brain of patients with Parkinson's disease and to explore whether there are differences between recognition of different types of emotions in Parkinson's disease. We examined 18 patients with Parkinson's disease(8 men, 10 women) with no history of neurological or psychiatric comorbidities. All these patients underwent identical brain blood oxygenation level-dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging for emotion evaluation. Blood oxygenation level-dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging results revealed that the occipito-temporal cortices, insula, orbitofrontal cortex, basal ganglia, and parietal cortex which are involved in emotion processing, were activated during the functional control. Additionally, positive emotions activate larger volumes of the same anatomical entities than neutral and negative emotions. Results also revealed that Parkinson's disease associated with emotional disorders are increasingly recognized as disabling as classic motor symptoms. These findings help clinical physicians to recognize the emotional dysfunction of patients with Parkinson's disease. 展开更多

VIOLENCE IS NOT ONLY WRONG,IT’S DISEASED-it’s always painful and too often fatal-as with Martin Luther King,no less. When emotions run high, doctors have difficulty making progress-calm,dispassionate review of the obvious evidence is vital,if you aim for less pain and fewer deaths. This paper is based on the self-evident precept that violated children unmistakeably predate violent adults. The remedy, highlighted here,is unusual in all psychiatry,in that it is backed by solid, irrefutable, objective, scientific evidence-from brainscans,no less-at least it is,for those willing to look. The paper has 6 parts:1.Introduction;2.Un-memorising Terror;3.Nutritious Emotions;4.Tyrannical Revenge;5.The Way to Cure Nucleargeddon Is Paved With Good Intentions;6.Conclusion.Parenting is a troubled skill, largely because mis-parenting perpetuates itself. As the poet Philip Larkin says of parents-“they fill you with the faults they had,and add some extra just for you”.Larkin moderates his criticism with“they may not mean to,but they do”.Sadly his“solution”-“don’t have any kids yourself”can extinguish the human race as reliably as ever revengeful Emotional Dwarfism will. 展开更多

This paper deeply analyzes the practical application of Herbart’s educational concept in contemporary education and teaching, especially its guiding significance to the primary school Chinese classroom in Shenzhen area.Herbart proposed that teachers should play a key role in students’cognitive process, that is,help students better understand and master new knowledge by combining it with existing knowledge. The survey results show that although teachers have some understanding of Herbart’s educational philosophy,it is not widely used in the concrete teaching process. However, the study also shows that there is a positive relationship between Herbart’s theory and students’academic performance, indicating that it plays an important role in improving students’interest and engagement in learning. The research also reveals the differences between educational concepts and practices,as well as the uneven distribution of educational resources, and puts forward measures to alleviate these contradictions, such as strengthening teacher training, improving teaching methods, and emphasizing moral education. At the same time, the study also highlights the critical role of teachers in promoting knowledge integration, arousing learning enthusiasm, shaping students’moral character, and promoting personal and professional growth. 展开更多

Huntington’s disease(HD)is a genetic neurodegenerative disorder that affects not only the motor but also the cognitive domain. In particular, cognitive symptoms such as impaired executive skills and deficits in recognizing other individuals’mental state may emerge many years before the motor symptoms. This study was aimed at testing two cognitive hypotheses suggested by previous research with a new Stroop task created for the purpose:1)the impairment of emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence, and 2)inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Forty manifest and 20 pre-manifest HD patients and their age-and gender-matched controls completed both the traditional“Stroop Color and Word Test”(SCWT)and the newly created“Stroop Emotion Recognition under Word Interference Task”(SERWIT),which consist in 120 photographs of sad, calm,or happy faces with either congruent or incongruent word interference. On the SERWIT,impaired emotion recognition in manifest HD was moderated by emotion type, with deficits being larger in recognizing sadness and calmness than in recognizing happiness, but it was not moderated by stimulus congruency. On the SCWT,six different interference scores yielded as many different patterns of group effects.Overall our results corroborate the hypothesis that impaired emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence, but do not provide evidence for the hypothesis that inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Further research is needed to learn more about the psychological mechanisms underlying the moderating effect of emotional valence on impaired emotion recognition in HD,and to corroborate the hypothesis that the inhibitory processes involved in Stroop tasks are not impaired in HD.Looking beyond this study, the SERWIT promises to make important contributions to disentangling the cognitive and the psychomotor aspects of neurological disorders. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the“Istituto Leonarda Vaccari”,Rome on January 24,2018. 展开更多

This study is to introduce concepts of energy and entropy to describe a robot's emoton decisien. It chooses the dimensional approach based on factors of pleasure and arousal for the merit of the interpolation between enotions. Especially, Circumplex model which has also two axes: pleasure and arousal is used. Besides, the model indicates how emotions are distributed in the two-dimensional plane. Then by the definition of psychodynamicsthe energy states (mental energy and physical energy) are matched to pleasure and arousal respectively that are the basis of Circumplex model. The mental energy is updated by the result of Prospect theory which measures the value of gain and loss as pleasure factor. And the physical energy is updated by the result of hedonic scaling which measures levels of arousal from pleasure computed by Prospect theory, and the result of intensity of stimuli. Then the energy states are fed by entropy. The feedback loop by entropy satisfies the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The energy states generated by stimuli and fed by entropy take a position in the plane of Circumplex model. Then distances between the current position and other emotions are cornputed to get a level of each emotion, proportional to the inverse of the distance. 展开更多

To clarify the mechanism of blocking-stressors,psychological contracts, and negative emotions on post-90s employees’occupational mobility, based on the literature study,a hypothetical model of the relationship was established.Using the blocking-stressor,psychological contract, negative emotion, and occupational mobility scales,317 post-90s employees were selected to investigate their status. It used correlation analysis and intermedi-ary effect tests to verify the hypothesis model. The results showed that:first, there were significant positive cor-relations between blocking-stressors,negative emotions, and occupational mobility, while indicating a significant negative correlation with the psychological contract;second,blocking-stressors can directly and significantly pre-dict occupational mobility;and third,blocking-stressors can indirectly affect occupational mobility through the mediating role of negative emotions and the chain-mediating role of psychological contracts and negative emo-tions.The effective intervention of blocking-stressors,psychological contracts, and negative emotions can reduce the rate of occupational mobility and provide some guidance for enterprises in making rational use of human resources. 展开更多

Speech disorders are a common type of childhood disease.Through experimental intervention, this study aims to improve the vocabulary comprehension levels and language ability of children with speech disorders through the language cognition and emotional speech community method. We also conduct a statistical analysis of the inter-ventional effect.Among children with speech disorders in Dongguan City,224 were selected and grouped accord-ing to their receptive language ability and IQ.The 112 children in the experimental group(EG)received speech therapy with language cognitive and emotional speech community, while the 112 children in the control group(CG)only received conventional treatment. After six months of experimental intervention, the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised(PPVT-R)was used to test the language ability of the two groups.Overall,we employed a quantitative approach to obtain numerical values, examine the variables identified, and test hypotheses.Further-more,we used descriptive statistics to explore the research questions related to the study and statistically describe the overall distribution of the demographic variables. The statistical t-test was used to analyze the data. The data shows that after intervention through language cognition and emotional speech community therapy, the PPVT-R score of the EG was significantly higher than that of the CG.Therefore,we conclude that there is a significant difference in language ability between the EG and CG after the therapy.Although both groups improved, the post-therapy language level of EG is significantly higher than that of CG.The total effective rate in EG is higher than CG,and the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05).Therefore,we conclude that the language cogni-tion and emotional speech community method is effective as an interventional treatment of children’s speech dis-orders and that it is more effective than traditional treatment methods. 展开更多

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate how Swedish women describe their emotional state of being during the eighth week through the eleventh week after they have become pregnant again after suffering a previous miscarriage. Method: A qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach has been used to analyze fourteen interviews that served as the data base for this study. The content analysis resulted in the development of five categories which evolved into one primary theme. Findings: The five categories identified were Worry and preoccupation;Distance;managing their feelings;Mourning what is lost;Guarded happiness and expectations. These categories were compiled into a main theme, “Worry consumes a lot of energy, but on the other side lies happiness”. This theme focused on whether the women could feel any happiness about being pregnant again despite their concerns with the previous miscarriage. Conclusions: The emotional states of the women when they get pregnant again are typically characterized by anxiety, worry and concerns about their current pregnancy. The women have a tendency to distance themselves emotionally from their pregnancy but also strive to find the joy of being pregnant again. During the new pregnancy they find themselves in need of support from their family and friends as well as in need of support from the healthcare system. 展开更多
