A Lonely Journey:An Autoethnography of the Fifteen-Year Identity Construction of a Female ESP Teacher in China

This autoethnographic study explores from a sociocultural perspective the author’s identity construction journey as a female English-for-specific-purposes(ESP)teacher at a university in China for more than 15 years.It delves into the author’s evolving exercise between teacher agency and language policy within both institutional and national contexts.The author aims to voice for marginalized ESP teachers and create a space for them to better negotiate with English-for-general-purposes(EGP)colleagues,academic staff,and policy makers.This study highlights the significance of autoethnography in teacher identity research,particularly for niche ESP teachers who direct novel enterprises through bottom-up implementation.Furthermore,the author emphasizes humanism behind ESP instruction,which significantly expands the view that the ESP features instrumental value.She also advocates for comprehensive support to sustain ESP teaching innovation,ESP teachers’identity construction,and their professional development.These insights have implications for all accountable parties in the context of educational reform to enable constructive negotiation,for ESP teachers to develop their sense of empowerment,and for inclusive education to become more accessible.

Empirical Research on Current Construction Situation of Primary and Middle School Teachers in New Era

Teachers are the top priority to develop the education.The thesis,first of all,has structured the index system of current teachers’construction situation in the new era.Then,the thesis has adopted the independent sample test and analysis of variance to analyze the difference of current teachers’construction situation in different dimensions on the basis of questionnaire data collected from teachers in five provinces and cities in the new era.Finally,the thesis has given some suggestions on improving teachers’situation in the new era from four aspects such as the improvement of the treatment guarantee mechanism for primary and middle school teachers,the operation of the cooperation mechanism among colleges,government and primary and middle school in cultivating students,the formation of training system on teachers’personal growth process and the establishment of the evaluation standard of teachers’titles as well as the standard evaluation procedure of professional titles.

Educational Probation Under the Tutorial System and the Construction of English Student Teachers’ Knowledge

This paper attempts to explore effective ways of educational probation to promote the professional development of English student teachers. An empirical study is carried out to compare the teachers’ knowledge level of 91 normal students under three different educational probation modes: tutorial system, non-tutorial system, and routine system. Quantitative analysis shows that except English knowledge, the tutorial system is more conducive to promoting normal students’ mastery of educational theory knowledge, general curriculum knowledge, English curriculum knowledge, English teaching knowledge, and students’ knowledge, and the development of these kinds of knowledge is relatively balanced. This study is helpful for teacher educators to provide guidance and help for pre-service English teachers to maximize the benefits of educational probation.

Properties and Characteristics of Regolith-Based Materials for Extraterrestrial Construction

The construction of extraterrestrial bases has become a new goal in the active exploration of deep space.Among the construction techniques,in situ resource-based construction is one of the most promising because of its good sustainability and acceptable economic cost,triggering the development of various types of extraterrestrial construction materials.A comprehensive survey and comparison of materials from the perspective of performance was conducted to provide suggestions for material selection and optimization.Thirteen types of typical construction materials are discussed in terms of their reliability and applicability in extreme extraterrestrial environment.Mechanical,thermal and optical,and radiation-shielding properties are considered.The influencing factors and optimization methods for these properties are analyzed.From the perspective of material properties,the existing challenges lie in the comprehensive,long-term,and real characterization of regolith-based construction materials.Correspondingly,the suggested future directions include the application of high-throughput characterization methods,accelerated durability tests,and conducting extraterrestrial experiments.
