In the process of learning any languages, pronunciation is an important part of language acquisition because pronunciation may influence a listener’s comprehension of one’s expression. An example is the classical mistake of pronouncing“sink”and“think.”Because Germans cannot pronounce/s/,the rescue worker cannot understand why a man who is“thinking”needs help.In China,English learners are also facing the problems of pronunciation.Gimson,a famous professor of linguistics in Britain, pointed out that when learning a language, one should understand 50%-90%of its grammar and 1%of its vocabulary, but it is necessary to fully master the pronunciation, thus highlighting the importance of pronunciation.[1]However,pronunciation is a difficult part of a second language acquisition. This article analyzes the problems of pronunciation and discuss some methods on how to resolve them. 展开更多

Introduction For many years, listening comprehension has been taken for granted as a course and has simply been continuous and constant listening given to the students regardless of the strategies employed, the stages needed to achieve the goal and the appropriateness of the materials. Teachers teach their students listening in the way they themselves were taught. This empirical perspective of teaching, which lacks a sufficiently scientific basis, has been challenged in recent years by evidence from psycholinguistic research. This influential field of study has provided many fresh insights into the nature of the human mind and broadened our view of language teaching. 展开更多

Introduction Vocabulary is one of the indispensable components of the language system, and researchers have found that there exists a close relationship between vocabulary and other components in a language system. However, vocabulary is thought to be the most difficult component of language knowledge for a learner to grasp. Gorman (1979) pointed out that there was evidence showing that as students become more proficient in a second language, problems caused specifically by syntactical variation become less significant (cited in Crow and Quigley, 1985: 499). That is to say, vocabulary becomes a major problem in 展开更多
