Based on its strain sensitivity, a skin-like sensitive layer which can continuously cover the structural surface to sense strain in large area was developed. The sensitive layer was applied to continuously monitor the deformation of a simply supported beam. The result indicates that the fractional change in electrical resistance of the sensitive layer reversibly reflects the beam deformation in each section and describes the distribution of the average strain of the beam. The effect of temperature change on the monitoring was studied by monitoring tests conducted at different temperatures ranging from 20 to 80 ℃, which reveals temperature sensitivity in the sensitive layer and the temperature dependence of the piezoresistive behavior when the temperature exceeds 50 ℃. By the application of differential conaection principle, a method for temperature compensation was established and the gauge factor for the monitoring was dramatically increased. The temperature and environmental perturb- bation can be compensated automatically. In the scheme, a quartz crystal cylinder wrapped with highly elliptical-core fiber plays the role of voltage sensor head. The two interference output lobes' intensity from the E-core PMF is modulated with the converse piezoelectric effect of quartz crystal. A PZT wrapped with E-core PMF at ground potential serves as the static modular phase difference control and temperature compensation unit. The experiment results indicate that the OVT designed in this paper has satisfying performance and could successfully rejects the temperature perturbation.展开更多

The FBG itself is sensitive to axial strain and temperature variation directly and can indirectly measure these complex physical parameters, such as pressure, displacement, and vibration, by using some specially designed elastic structures to convert them into the axial strain of the FBG. Whether the FBG is fixed on the measured object to measure the strain directly or fixed on an elastic structure body to measure other physical quantities, these types of FBGs could be collectively called as strain sensing FBGs. The packaging of the FBG has important influence on FBG characteristics that directly affect the measurement accuracy, such as strain transfer, temperature characteristic, and spectral shape. This paper summarizes the packaging methods and corresponding temperature compensation methods of the currently reported strain sensing FBGs, focusing especially on fully pasted FBG, pre-stretched FBG with double-end fixed, and metallic packaging. Furthermore, the advantages and drawbacks of different packaging methods have been analyzed, which can provide a reference for future researches.展开更多

In this work, we propose a temperature compensation fiber Bragg grating (FBG) pressure sensor based on the plane diaphragm. The plane diaphragm and pressure sensitivity FBG (PS FBG) are used as the pressure sensitive components, and the temperature compensation FBG (TC FBG) is used to improve the temperature cross-sensitivity. Mechanical deformation model and deformation characteristics simulation analysis of the diaphragm are presented. The measurement principle and theoretical analysis of the mathematical relationship between the FBG central wavelength shift and pressure of the sensor are introduced. The sensitivity and measure range can be adjusted by utilizing the different materials and sizes of the diaphragm to accommodate different measure environments. The performance experiments are carried out, and the results indicate that the pressure sensitivity of the sensor is 35.7pm/MPa in a range from 0MPa to 50MPa and has good linearity with a linear fitting correlation coefficient of 99.95%. In addition, the sensor has the advantages of low frequency chirp and high stability, which can be used to measure pressure in mining engineering, civil engineering, or other complex environment.展开更多

According to the heat transfer.analysis of sensor, the thermal model has been bulit to determine the temperature variation function. The parameters of the compensation model are recognized by generic algorithm, which combines the determine function, the molten steel mass in the ladle and pouring time. The processing of error compensation is divided into three stages: tracking, holding and compensation. When the processing is stable, the measured temperature error is small, and the measured temperature is regarded as accurate val- ue and tracked. For the end of pouring stage of the ladle, the temperature error is caused by the immersion depth of the sensor, and the measured temperature before sharp decreasing is considered as real temperature and held. For the temperature increasing stage after ladle changed, the measured temperature is compensated online. The application results show that the error between the compensation temperatures and the actual ones have been decreased to ±2 ℃, and the time lag could be shortened from 3-5 min to 40 s by applying this model.展开更多

文摘The strain-temperature cross-sensitivity problem easily occurs in the engineering strain monitoring of the self-sensing embedded with fiber Bragg grating(FBG)sensors. In this work,a theoretical investigation of the strain-temperature cross-sensitivity has been performed using the temperature reference grating method. To experimentally observe and theoretically verify the problem, the substrate materials, the preloading technique, and the FBG initial central wavelength were taken as main parameters. And a series of sensitivity coefficients calibration tests and temperature compensation tests have been designed and carried out.It was found that when the FBG sensors were embedded on different substrates, their coefficients of the temperature sensitivity were significantly changed.Besides, the larger the coefficients of thermal expansion(CTE)of substrates were, the higher the temperature sensitivity coefficients would be.On the other hand, the effect of the preloading technique and FBG initial wavelength was negligible on both the strain monitoring and temperature compensation. In the case of similar substrates,we did not observe any difference between temperature sensitivity coefficients of the temperature compensation FBG with one free end or two free ends. The curves of the force along with temperature were almost overlapped with minor differences(less than 1%)gained by FBG sensors and pressure sensors, which verified the accuracy of the temperature compensation method. We suggest that this work can provide efficient solutions to the strain-temperature cross-sensitivity for engineering strain monitoring with the self-sensing element embedded with FBG sensors.

文摘This paper describes an optical voltage transducer (OVT) for the 35 kV electric power system based on modular interference in dual-mode highly elliptical-core polarization maintenance fiber (E-Core PMF). The experiment results indicate that the OVT designed in this paper has satisfying performance and could successfully rejects the temperature perturbation.

文摘This paper reports an approach of in-operation temperature bias drift compensation based on phase-based calibration for a stiffness-tunable MEMS accelerometer with double-sided parallel plate(DSPP)capacitors. The temperature drifts of the components of the accelerometer are characterized, and analytical models are built on the basis of the measured drift results. Results reveal that the temperature drift of the acceleration output bias is dominated by the sensitive mechanical stiffness. An out-of-bandwidth AC stimulus signal is introduced to excite the accelerometer, and the interference with the acceleration measurement is minimized. The demodulated phase of the excited response exhibits a monotonic relationship with the effective stiffness of the accelerometer.Through the proposed online compensation approach, the temperature drift of the effective stiffness can be detected by the demodulated phase and compensated in real time by adjusting the stiffness-tuning voltage of DSPP capacitors. The temperature drift coefficient(TDC)of the accelerometer is reduced from 0.54 to 0.29 mg/℃,and the Allan variance bias instability of about 2.8μg is not adversely affected.Meanwhile, the pull-in resulting from the temperature drift of the effective stiffness can be prevented.TDC can be further reduced to 0.04 mg/℃through an additional offline calibration based on the demodulated carrier phase representing the temperature drift of the readout circuit.

文摘During last decades, sensor elements based on the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) have been widely studied and developed due to the advantages of immunity to electromagnetic interference, compact size, high precision, and so on. Furthermore, the advantages and drawbacks of different packaging methods have been analyzed, which can provide a reference for future researches.
文摘Pressure sensors are the essential equipments in the field of pressure measurement. In addition, the sensor has the advantages of low frequency chirp and high stability, which can be used to measure pressure in mining engineering, civil engineering, or other complex environment.

文摘Based on the asymmetric base region transistor, a pressure sensor with temperature compensation circuit is proposed in this paper. The pressure sensitive structure of the proposed sensor is constructed by a C-type silicon cup and a Wheatstone bridge with four piezoresistors(R_1, R_2, R_3 and R_4/locating on the edge of a square silicon membrane. The chip was designed and fabricated on a silicon on insulator(SOI) wafer by micro electromechanical system(MEMS) technology and bipolar transistor process. When the supply voltage is 5.0 V, the corresponding temperature coefficient of the sensitivity(TCS) for the sensor before and after temperature compensation are -1862 and -1067 ppm/℃, respectively. Through varying the ratio of the base region resistances r_1 and r_2, the TCS for the sensor with the compensation circuit is -127 ppm/℃. It is possible to use this compensation circuit to improve the temperature characteristics of the pressure sensor.

文摘A highly sensitive and temperature-compensated methane sensor based on a liquid-infiltrated photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed. Two bigger holes near the core area are coated with a methane-sensitive compound film, and specific cladding air holes are infiltrated into the liquid material to form new defective channels. The proposed sensor can achieve accurate measurement of methane concentration through temperature compensation. The sensitivity can reach to 20.07nm/% with a high linearity as the methane concentration is within the range of 0%-3.5% by volume. The proposed methane sensor can not only improve the measurement accuracy, but also reduce the metrical difficulty and simplify the process.

文摘A compensation model has been proposed to reduce errors caused by the immersion depth of the sensor and the time lag of continuous temperature measurement for molten steel in tundish, which is based on the limited data fitting method and data fusion technology. The application results show that the error between the compensation temperatures and the actual ones have been decreased to ±2 ℃, and the time lag could be shortened from 3-5 min to 40 s by applying this model.
