Understanding the corrosion behavior of high entropy alloys(HEAs)after intermediate temperature fatigue is critical to prevent their catastrophic failures from the reduction of corrosion resistance. Here,we investigated the corrosion behavior of CrMnFeCoNi HEA after 500℃ fatigue test with strain amplitudes of 0.2%and 0.5%.The intermediate temperature fatigue induced two types of precipitates, which were determined as Cr-richσphase and NiMn-rich L10 phase.Higher strain amplitude not only promoted precipitates generations but also spread the nucleation sites from intergranular to both intergranular and intragranular.Furthermore,we found that the deterioration in corrosion resistance of the alloy was derived from the increase of precipitates, which destroyed the stability of the passive film. The above results revealed that intermediate temperature fatigue impaired the stabilization of the solid solution state and subsequent corrosion resistance of CrMnFeCoNi HEA,where the higher strain amplitude led to more precipitates and more severe corrosion. 展开更多

Fatigue behaviour has important implications for engineering composite structures in sectors ranging from automotive to aerospace. Optical sensing technology displays excellent performance in these fields for monitoring. In this paper, temperature and residual strain during fatigue of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) are investigated. Four autoclaved CFRP beam specimens, with fiber Bragg grating(FBG) sensors and thermocouples embedded at selected locations, are subjected to three-point bending cyclic loading on the BOSE testing machine for fatigue testing. Thennocouples are used to measure the temperature while FBGs can sense the temperature and strain as well. Seven tests in total are conducted at different frequencies, and each test lasts for several days. From the experimental results, transient steep peaks of temperature increases (up to 2.3℃) are discovered at the beginning of the load. The following constant temperature increments are around 1.0℃, which is not relevant to frequencies from 0.1 Hz to 20 Hz and suspected due to fatigue. Residual strains of 1×10^-5-2×10^-5 during fatigue, fading away rapidly when unloading, are also reported. Embedded FBGs here are validated to sense temperature and strains in composite structures, which demonstrates promising potentials in structure monitoring fields. CFRP are verified to have an excellent performance during fatigue with low temperature increase and residual strain. 展开更多

Based on the assumptions validated by the experiments,an analytical method to detect the coupling actions of bending fatigue and temperature on concrete was proposed. To this purpose,a coefficient denoted by f D (T)with the strain distributions caused by these two actions was defined. In terms of the known parameters and the fitted functions of strain, the explicit expression for f D (T)which develops in the way same as the law of temperature change in the body of specimens was obtained. Our experimental results indicate that the weigh fraction of temperature stress decreases in the coupling damage field with the fading temperature gradient, and consequently disclose the mutual influence between these two types of actions in the loading history. 展开更多

Four-point flexural fatigue test for Gussasphalt mixture specimen was carried out at a straincontrolled mode system. The results showed that the development of the tested stiffness modulus and phase angle of the mixtures with increasing load cycles exhibited three periods, initial generation, slow development and failure period. The fatigue crack generation zone formed in the third period, in which the macro mechanical properties were signifi cantly decreased. Moreover, we also analyzed the effects of asphalt content and mixing temperature on the fatigue life of the mixture. The results showed that the fi rst period when the specimen's initial stiffness modulus was reduced to 80% accounted for 5%-10% of the total fatigue life; the second period in which the reduction became slow and demonstrated a liner relationship with load cycles occupied 70%-85% of the fatigue life; and the third period was about 5%-10%. The results indicated that the lower the mixing temperature, the longer the fatigue life of Gussasphalt mixture. Besides, the increasing of asphalt content has a minor effect on the fatigue life of Gussasphalt mixture 展开更多

The thermal fatigue behavior of K125 L superalloy at the peak temperature of 1,050 °C was investigated by optical microscope(OM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The experimental results show that the crack initiation sites of tested alloys are at the V-notch tip and the V-notch tip propagates by way of continuous cracking along grain boundaries. The formation of high-temperature oxides and MC carbides accelerates the crack propagation, and no secondary carbides precipitate out. Oxides between cracks are mainly the Al2O3 as well as Cr_2O_3, and carbides are Ta-rich and Tirich MC carbides. 展开更多

The crack initiation mechanism of a Z3CN20.09M duplex stainless steel (DSS) during corrosion fatigue (CF) in water and air at 290 ℃ was investigated by using a CF cracking machine and a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The cracks were initiated successively at the persistent stip bands (PSBs), phase boundaries (PBs) and pitting corrosion points (PCPs) of the specimens when they were tested in water at 290 ℃, while in airat 290 ℃ the cracks were only initiated at the PSBs and PBs. And the cracks were found mainly to initiate at the PSBs and PBs when the specimens were tested in water and air at 290 ℃, respectively. The results also reveal that the cracks were likely to be initiated at the first 20% of fatigue life of the specimens tested in water at 290 ℃. However, the cracks were not found until 50% of fatigue life when tested in air at 290 ℃. Moreover, the crack numbers of the specimens tested in water at 290 ℃ were much more than those tested in air at 290 ℃. 展开更多
