In this paper, log-rank test is used to compare two or more survival curves f...This paper concerns the Log-rank test for comparing survival curves of neonatal mortality characteristic groups in River Nile State, Sudan. In this paper, log-rank test is used to compare two or more survival curves for the characteristics of newborn associated with newborn death after using Kaplan-Meier methods to estimate and graph survival curves for the variable of interest as (sex of newborn, weight of newborn, gestational age, mode of delivery and resident type), at the hospital of River Nile state—Sudan, with a sample size 700 of newborn in which the admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of those hospitals during the period 2018-2020. In term of risk of death for newborn we found that 25% of sample study for newborns who were born in River Nile State-Sudan died. In addition, we conclude that after the log-rank statistics and Kaplan-Meier methods were applied, gender does not affect the newborn’s risk of survival, while the risk of survival increases when the birth weight is greater than 4.35 kg and the gestational age is greater than 42 weeks. There is no difference in the probability of survival for newborns whether the delivery is normal or cesarean. However, newborns are significantly more likely to survive in urban areas than in rural areas.展开更多

This paper explained the principle of log defect testing by using stress wave, and analyzed the effects of sensor quantity on defect testing results by using stress wave in terms of image fitting degree and error rate. The results showed that for logs with diameter ranging from 20 to 40 cm, at least 12 sensors were needed to meet the requirement which ensure a high testing accuracy of roughly 90% of fitness with 0.1 of error rate. And 10 sensors were recommended to judge the possible locations of defects and 6 sensors were sufficient to decide whether there were defects or not.展开更多

Methods They are respectively derived from the Peto et al. expression for the log rank test, the Mantel Haenszel expression for the log rank test, and the generalized Wilcoxon test by means of using the homogenetic effective sample size in place of the number at risk and using the corresponding numerator of the conditional probability surviving in place of the death number. Results After such derivations they become clearer in clinical significance, more powerful, and free from the assumption of proportional hazard. Conclusion These tests can be employed in analyzing the clinical data of cancer. A worked example illustrates the methodology.展开更多

As such, the scores must be normalized. To tackle the shortcomings of score normalization methods, we propose a speaker verification system based on log-likelihood normalization (LLN). Without a priori knowledge, LLN increases the separation between scores of target and non-target speaker models, so as to improve score aliasing of “same-speaker” and “different-speaker” trials corresponding to the same test speech, enabling better discrimination and decision capability. The experiment shows that LLN is an effective method of scoring normalization.展开更多

Web applications generally contain lots of pages and are used by enormous users. Statistical testing is an effective way of ensuring their quality. Web usage can be accurately described by Markov chain which has been proved to be an ideal model for software statistical testing. The results of unit testing can be utilized in the latter stages, which is an important strategy for bottom-to-top integration testing, and the other improvement of extended Markov chain model (EMM) is to present the error type vector which is treated as a part of page node. this paper also proposes the algorithm for generating test cases of usage paths. Finally, optional usage reliability evaluation methods and an incremental usability regression testing model for testing and evaluation are presented.
