Through qualitative analysis of the short story Necklace of Maupassant, it is found that narrative texts always use the linear theme pattern and the constant theme pattern, and sometimes the derived theme pattern and other patterns are also used to facilitate the text coherence and the plot development. Thematic progression in various fields has been studied extensively, but the analysis aims to short story is less than text coherence and other aspects. In order to solve the poor performance in text classification when using traditional formula of mutual information (MI),a feature selection algorithm were proposed based on improved mutual information.The improved mut...In order to solve the poor performance in text classification when using traditional formula of mutual information (MI),a feature selection algorithm were proposed based on improved mutual information.The improved mutual information algorithm,which is on the basis of traditional improved mutual information methods that enhance the MI value of negative characteristics and feature's frequency,supports the concept of concentration degree and dispersion degree.In accordance with the concept of concentration degree and dispersion degree,formulas which embody concentration degree and dispersion degree were constructed and the improved mutual information was implemented based on these.In this paper,the feature selection algorithm was applied based on improved mutual information to a text classifier based on Biomimetic Pattern Recognition and it was compared with several other feature selection methods.The experimental results showed that the improved mutual information feature selection method greatly enhances the performance compared with traditional mutual information feature selection methods and the performance is better than that of information gain.Through the introduction of the concept of concentration degree and dispersion degree,the improved mutual information feature selection method greatly improves the performance of text classification system.展开更多
Obesity represents a social health problem worldwide, associated with serious health risks and increased mortality. The prevalence of obesity is reported to be increasing in both developed and developing countries. Ob...Obesity represents a social health problem worldwide, associated with serious health risks and increased mortality. The prevalence of obesity is reported to be increasing in both developed and developing countries. Obesity is associated with a significant range of comorbidities and is linked with increases in mortality, thus the treatment of obesity is very important. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been used for weight management both in China and in western countries for many years, the effectiveness and safety of CHMs in obesity have been proved. Yet the principles of treating obesity with CHMs are hard to manage due to the complexity of TCM theory. In this study, a novel text mining method was developed based on a comprehensive collection of literatures in order to explore the treatment principles more intuitively. Networks of TCM patterns and CHMs which are most frequently used in obesity treatment are built-up and analyzed, two major principles are explored in treating obesity: one is resolving phlegm and dampness, the other is clearing heat and reinforcing deficiency. These findings might guide the clinicians in treatment of obesity.展开更多
