Besides, the SCS contains enormous petroleum resources for its favorable conditions of oil-gas generation, accumulation and preservation. It is therefore imperative to intensively study the marine in-situ stress and its controlling factors of the SCS.展开更多

Shipping After entering into the 1990’s, the ship-building industry, badly affected by the long recession of the world shipping market, has been growing very slowly, while the competition has been a fierce one. From the shares enjoyed by the major shipping countries in the world, we can see that the first one is Japan which occupied 38%; South Korea came to the second, obtaining 15%; the third is Germany, being 8%. The shipbuilding industry in America is shrinking, owing to the high cost of production. Up to 1993,Japanese ship yards had still been in difficult situation, and many Japanese ship owners would rather order new ships from South Korea because the rising value of Japanese yen made it expensive to build in domestic yards. Nowadays, Japanese shipbuilding industry is exposed to the problem of scarce of labour force. The Korean shipbuilding industry,展开更多

China’s higher medical education was very backward. In the 20 years before 1949. graduates from institutions of higher medical education totalled less than 10 000. In 1949. there were only 44 medical and pharmaceutical schools with 18 800 undergraduates. The higher medical education has taken a tortuous course of development after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The first phase (1949-1965) was a period of prelimi-nary formation of medical education system of new China. During this period, the experience of the former Soviet Union was followed in determining the objectives of higher medical education, the length of the curriculum, specialties, the structure of the curriculum, the contents of teaching, etc. and a preliminary system was instituted. The second phase (1966-1976) was a time of chaos during which the normal educational program was disrupted. The third phase started in 1977. The wrong line was re展开更多

This trend will lead to the following 4benefits, namely: increase the effectiveness of land use dispositioning accelerate opening up to the outside world, allowfair competition among enterprises and enable the concentration of financial resources of the country and to bringabout a new source of financial income for the country. Secondly, there should be a clear model in thecommodification of land in China. It is appropriate for Shenzhen to choose the Commonwealth model i.e., the HongKong model, for reference for its commodification of land. However, we must abide by the principle that land re-sources are reasonably created under the condition that the relationship between ownership of land and rights to useremains unchanged. To implement commodification of land, it is necessary to establish perfect market for the tradingof parcels of land. This market has to be based on the prereguisite of public ownership of land, monopolized by thestate in accordance to the principle (of public ownership of land, monopolized by the state in accordance to the prin-ciple) of commodification. Thirdly, this management must be implemented by phases in different places instead ofmass action. The whole country can be roughly divided into four categories: the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) repre-sented by Shenzhen, the heavy industrial base along the southeast coastal region, some medium-sized open cities andthe northwest and southwest regions, where different practice should be adopted in different categories. Fourthly, commodification of land is closely linked with commodification of housing properties the whole situation of whichneeds to be taken into consideration in a comprehensive manner.展开更多

Early in 1950’s we wiped out the classical cholera which had been epidemic over a century in old China, brought typhoid fever and dysentry under control by preventing them from spreading in large areas, and reduced to different extents the incidence and mortality of other types of diarrhoea. Unfortunately, teachers of English in middle schools usually pay little attention to listening for a number of reasons. One is that they think listening is less important for Chinese students compared with other skills. According to the National Syllabus, more attention should be paid to reading, which is the chief component of the College Entrance exam. Another reason is that teachers complain that they do not have enough materials or machines for improving listening. Furthermore, they lack confidence in their ability to construct listening activities.展开更多
