Activity budget of Rhinopithecus bieti at Tibet:Effects of day length,temperature and food availability

How animals allocate their time to various activities has significant consequences for their survival because they reflect the different constraints on time-energy balances. Many ecological variables, such as day length, temperature, food availabil- ity, are supposed to effect on activity budgets allocation of temperate primates. To examine the potential influence of these three variables, the activity budgets ofRhinopithecus bieti was studied at Xiaochangdu, Tibet from June 2003 to March 2005. Pearson correlations were utilized to assess potential relationships between activity budget and day length, food availability and temperature, and stepwise multiple regressions to identify the priority of resting and other activities （activities besides feeding, moving and resting）. Time spent resting and doing ＂other activities＂ is positively related to day length, temperature and food availability. No significant correlations were found between feeding/moving time and any of these variables. This suggests that foraging time （feeding ＋ moving） takes priority over rest and other activities. Day length and foraging time （as independent variables） were related to the time spent in the other two activities besides feeding/moving （as dependent variables）. Both time spent resting and in ＂other activities＂ were highly significant positive functions of day length, with the latter a highly significant negative function of feeding time and moving time. Resting time may therefore be interpreted as taking priority over ＂other activities＂ time. These results provide further evidence of the importance of day length, temperature and food availability to seasonal activity budgets [Current Zoology 56 （6）： 650q559, 2010].

Study of Relation between Torrential Rain Days in Fuxin and Sunspot Cycle

The quasi 11-year cycle of sunspot activities and torrential rain days in Fuxin during 1951-2005 were studied.As was shown in the results,the relative number of sunspots and the torrential rain days in the sunspot cycle of trough value were significantly related with a correlation coefficient of 0.842.At the same time,the correlation coefficient between torrential rain days in Fuxin and the relative number of sunspots of certain year within the sunspot cycle of trough value reached 0.737.It was clear that the torrential rain days in Fuxin were closely related with solar activity.The conclusion would provide the favorable climate background and basis for the study of regularity of rainstorm outbreak,monitoring and forecasting of torrential rain and regularity of agricultural drought and flood.

Alternate day fasting aggravates atherosclerosis through the suppression of hepatic ATF3 in Apoe^(-/-)mice

Atherosclerosis is the major contributor to cardiovascular mortality worldwide.Alternate day fasting(ADF)has gained growing attention due to its metabolic benefits.However,the effects of ADF on atherosclerotic plaque formation remain inconsistent and controversial in atherosclerotic animal models.The present study was designed to investigate the effects of ADF on atherosclerosis in apolipoprotein E-deficient(Apoe^(-/-))mice.Eleven-week-old male Apoe^(-/-)mice fed with Western diet(WD)were randomly grouped into ad libitum(AL)group and ADF group,and ADF aggravated both the early and advanced atherosclerotic lesion formation,which might be due to the disturbed cholesterol profiles caused by ADF intervention.ADF significantly altered cholesterol metabolism pathways and down-regulated integrated stress response(ISR)in the liver.The hepatic expression of activating transcription factor 3(ATF3)was suppressed in mice treated with ADF and hepatocyte-specific overexpression of Aft3 attenuated the effects of ADF on atherosclerotic plaque formation in Apoe^(-/-)mice.Moreover,the expression of ATF3 could be regulated by Krüppel-like factor 6(KLF6)and both the expressions of ATF3 and KLF6 were regulated by hepatic cellular ISR pathway.In conclusion,ADF aggravates atherosclerosis progression in Apoe^(-/-)mice fed on WD.ADF inhibits the hepatic ISR signaling pathway and decreases the expression of KLF6,subsequently inhibiting ATF3 expression.The suppressed ATF3 expression in the liver mediates the deteriorated effects of ADF on atherosclerosis in Apoe^(-/-)mice.The findings suggest the potentially harmful effects when ADF intervention is applied to the population at high risk of atherosclerosis.

The Communist Activities of the First International and the Logic of Socialist Party Politics

Against the backdrop of the 19^th century, the First International, guided by Marxism, emerged in the form of the early ＂International Socialist Federation.＂ It viewed the seizure of power as the great mission of the proletariat, actively struggled against bourgeois regimes, strongly responded to the call of times for the theoretical self-consciousness and organized struggle of the proletariat, and exerted a profound historical influence on the stirring inauguration and nationally oriented development of the international Communist movement of the 20th century. From the socialist party political perspective, the First Intemational, once the Communist League, had raised the curtain on socialist party politics, changed the political mode of capitalist party politics＇ exclusive world domination through the interactive development of new organizational forms, theoretical viewpoints and political practice. It thus left an abundant historical legacy in terms of ideological creation and practical innovation for the subsequent Second International, the Communist International and the emergence and development of socialist party politics within nation-states. Although its socialist party political practice had an obvious ＂regional,＂ ＂preliminary＂ and ＂tentative＂ nature, the First International had foundation-laying significance and pioneering value for the development of socialist party politics, whether in terms of organizational vehicles, value orientation and activity content, or in terms of ideological guidance, practical patterns and strategic principles.

On Human Autonomic Nervous Activity Related to Behavior, Daily and Regional Changes Based on Big Data Measurement via Smartphone

This research uses a large amount of autonomic nervous system data (approximately 100,000 entries) to investigate the relationship between human autonomic nervous activity and behaviors, daily and regional changes. Data were measured via a heart rate variability analysis system that utilizes the camera of smartphones. This system was developed by the authors during previous research. The relations between autonomic nervous system and behaviors, total power and sympathetic nervous activity were found to rise after waking, while during leisure time, the total power rises and sympathetic nervous activity is inhibited. Concerning the relationship between autonomic nervous system and day of the week, it was found that total power decreases from the middle through the latter part of the week (namely, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), while it rises on Saturday, while the sympathetic nervous activity is suppressed on Saturday. Regarding the relationship between autonomic nervous system and region, it was found that total power is lower in the Kanto region of Japan than in others. This study also shows statistical proof (using a large amount of measurement data) to ideas held by the public for years. Thus, the data can be considered meaningful to the society, and the authors hope that it helps to improve work-life balance.

This is a study of German Labor Sport organizations and unions in Slovakia in the time parameters area 1918-1938 German workers living in Slovakia started to found their own union after 1918. They got a strong support from similar organizations of German workers living in Sudety. The coordinating role was played by the German Socio-Democratic party in Slovakia. The major concentration of these unions was in Bratislava and Eastern Slovakia. Concerning their specialized field, they can be divided into tourism-practising, physical and sport ones However, the union activities were strongly influenced by political parties. Activities of every union were regional and therefore a strong mutual isolation existed

多谐波源接入的城市配电网SAPF优化配置方法

针对分布式光伏和电动汽车充电设施等新谐波源渗透率高及分散接入造成的城市配电网谐波污染分散化与全网化问题,构建一种兼顾配电网谐波治理成本与治理成效的并联型有源电力滤波器选址定容双层优化模型。首先,外、内层模型分别以配电网谐波治理成本最小和电压畸变率最低为目标函数;然后,采用粒子群优化算法和遗传算法分别求解,实现配电网谐波治理效益最高的目标;最后,选取IEEE 33节点系统进行仿真,验证了所建模型对配电网谐波治理装置优化配置的有效性。
