The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs)is a legally binding instrument for 186 Parties(status:April 2023).Accordingly,among other responsibilities,countries are obliged to report the production...The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs)is a legally binding instrument for 186 Parties(status:April 2023).Accordingly,among other responsibilities,countries are obliged to report the production,import,or export of the POPs listed in Annexes A,B,or C;provide information to registers;maintain inventories;and monitor the presence of POPs in the environment.In the broader context of international chemicals and waste management,producer responsibilities,harmonized reporting,and compliance with national and international regulations,Ecuador has addressed the newly listed group of perfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS)in its national implementation plan and sent selected products from its national market for PFAS analysis.The products analyzed came from the initially listed fields of specific exemptions and acceptable purposes,including:fire-fighting foams;photographic aids;greasers/degreasers;various kinds of paper/packaging;textiles;and leather,coatings,cleaners,metal plating,and pesticides.Our results showed that the three PFAS presently listed in the Stockholm Convention could be quantified in only a few samples;additional PFAS,not yet listed in the Convention also had low detection frequencies.Although the number of samples was limited,the samples covered a large spectrum of sample matrices,making it possible to conclude that—once these products become waste and are regulated under the Basel Convention—they would not constitute a disposal problem.Nevertheless,verification of the presence of PFAS in products on the market is expected to pose an analytical challenge for both,developed and developing countries.展开更多
AIM:To determine and evaluate the features of highly cited articles(HCAs)in the ophthalmology category in the Science Citation Index Expanded(SCI-EXPANDED)from 1991 to 2020.METHODS:The Web of Science Core Collection d...AIM:To determine and evaluate the features of highly cited articles(HCAs)in the ophthalmology category in the Science Citation Index Expanded(SCI-EXPANDED)from 1991 to 2020.METHODS:The Web of Science Core Collection documents with at least 100 citations from their publication year until December 31,2020,were evaluated as highly cited.The examined features were the distribution of yearly output and its average number of per publication,HCAs,authors,institutions,journals,and nations.The publication performance of nations and organizations was assessed using six publication indicators.The Y-index was employed to compare the research outputs of various authors.RESULTS:Publications that had cited the most references were highly published in high-impact factor journals.The United States of America came out on top across all six publication indicators,and it was home to eight of the top 10 most productive institutions.The articles written by Breivik et al(2006)and Farrar et al(2001)were highly cited and had a significant impact in 2020.The authors had a higher number of highly cited articles published as corresponding authors than as first authors.CONCLUSION:The findings of the present study highlight the current scope of global research in ophthalmology.The findings can help policy-makers and advisory groups of research centers to develop future policies.In addition,the findings can guide researchers in this field.展开更多

In the past decades,a number of researchers have tried hard to identify the move-step structure of different sections in research articles(RAs)from various disciplines.However,there is a very few amount of previous st...In the past decades,a number of researchers have tried hard to identify the move-step structure of different sections in research articles(RAs)from various disciplines.However,there is a very few amount of previous studies conducted on the move-step structure of the Introduction section of English medical science research articles(MSRAs)written by Chinese researchers published in international journals.In order to fill this gap,the present study aims to identify the moves,steps,and their structure of the Introduction section of English MSRAs written by Chinese researchers at Zunyi Medical University(ZMU)published in international journals.To create the target corpus of the present study,30 Introductions were purposively selected from 25 international medical science journals,which were published from 2007 to 2015.It is worth noting that all the authors are restricted to Chinese researchers only and at least one author must come from ZMU.The framework of Kanoksilapatham’s(2005)was adopted for the move-step analysis in the present study.The results demonstrated that these Introduction sections were generally written with three moves following the selected framework.In addition,there were two new steps that occurred in the Introduction section of these English MSRAs.In conclusion,the findings of the present study might provide a guideline for the research who plan to write English MSRAs for international articles more effectively.Moreover,the findings may provide valuable information for academic writing textbook designers as well.展开更多

As a result, the relative study of definite artic...The acquisition and usage of definite article THE has always gained attention from scholars from domestic and overseas due to its difficulty of learning and mastering. As a result, the relative study of definite article THE acquisition has been one of the the most significant tasks of second language acquisition all the time. For English majors, the acquisition of definite articles THE runs through the whole process of language learning and application. Learner' s version of foreign language, known as interlanguage, is a kind of language that exists between the mother tongue (Chinese) and the target language (English). Interlanguage is a systematic unit which changes and develops constantly. Since definite article THE has rather complex and frequently altered usage, it is inevitable that there are a throng of misuse and problems for English majors when they are using definite article THE. This paper intends to do a survey focusing on English majors' application situation of definite article THE. Through analyzing the common misuse and mistakes appeared when English majors are using definite article THE, this paper aims to summerize the FAQ (frequently asked questions) and causes of those misuses. At the same time, the 100 experimental subjects of this survey are equally and randomly chosen from freshmen and third year students of foreign languages college, OUC (Ocean University of China). A marine propulsion system is a very complicated system composed of many mechanical components.As a result,the vibration signal of a gearbox in the system is strongly coupled with the vibration signatures of other com...A marine propulsion system is a very complicated system composed of many mechanical components.As a result,the vibration signal of a gearbox in the system is strongly coupled with the vibration signatures of other components including a diesel engine and main shaft.It is therefore imperative to assess the coupling effect on diagnostic reliability in the process of gear fault diagnosis.For this reason,a fault detection and diagnosis method based on bispectrum analysis and artificial neural networks (ANNs) was proposed for the gearbox with consideration given to the impact of the other components in marine propulsion systems.To monitor the gear conditions,the bispectrum analysis was first employed to detect gear faults.The amplitude-frequency plots containing gear characteristic signals were then attained based on the bispectrum technique,which could be regarded as an index actualizing forepart gear faults diagnosis.Both the back propagation neural network (BPNN) and the radial-basis function neural network (RBFNN) were applied to identify the states of the gearbox.The numeric and experimental test results show the bispectral patterns of varying gear fault severities are different so that distinct fault features of the vibrant signal of a marine gearbox can be extracted effectively using the bispectrum,and the ANN classification method has achieved high detection accuracy.Hence,the proposed diagnostic techniques have the capability of diagnosing marine gear faults in the earlier phases,and thus have application importance.展开更多
The volume of academic literature,such as academic conference papers and journals,has increased rapidly worldwide,and research on metadata extraction is ongoing.However,high-performing metadata extraction is still cha...The volume of academic literature,such as academic conference papers and journals,has increased rapidly worldwide,and research on metadata extraction is ongoing.However,high-performing metadata extraction is still challenging due to diverse layout formats according to journal publishers.To accommodate the diversity of the layouts of academic journals,we propose a novel LAyout-aware Metadata Extraction(LAME)framework equipped with the three characteristics(e.g.,design of automatic layout analysis,construction of a large meta-data training set,and implementation of metadata extractor).In the framework,we designed an automatic layout analysis using PDF Miner.Based on the layout analysis,a large volume of metadata-separated training data,including the title,abstract,author name,author affiliated organization,and keywords,were automatically extracted.Moreover,we constructed a pre-trainedmodel,Layout-Meta BERT,to extract the metadata from academic journals with varying layout formats.The experimental results with our metadata extractor exhibited robust performance(Macro-F1,93.27%)in metadata extraction for unseen journals with different layout formats.展开更多

文摘A marine propulsion system is a very complicated system composed of many mechanical components.As a result,the vibration signal of a gearbox in the system is strongly coupled with the vibration signatures of other components including a diesel engine and main shaft.It is therefore imperative to assess the coupling effect on diagnostic reliability in the process of gear fault diagnosis.For this reason,a fault detection and diagnosis method based on bispectrum analysis and artificial neural networks (ANNs) was proposed for the gearbox with consideration given to the impact of the other components in marine propulsion systems.To monitor the gear conditions,the bispectrum analysis was first employed to detect gear faults.The amplitude-frequency plots containing gear characteristic signals were then attained based on the bispectrum technique,which could be regarded as an index actualizing forepart gear faults diagnosis.Both the back propagation neural network (BPNN) and the radial-basis function neural network (RBFNN) were applied to identify the states of the gearbox.The numeric and experimental test results show the bispectral patterns of varying gear fault severities are different so that distinct fault features of the vibrant signal of a marine gearbox can be extracted effectively using the bispectrum,and the ANN classification method has achieved high detection accuracy.Hence,the proposed diagnostic techniques have the capability of diagnosing marine gear faults in the earlier phases,and thus have application importance.

文摘The volume of academic literature,such as academic conference papers and journals,has increased rapidly worldwide,and research on metadata extraction is ongoing.However,high-performing metadata extraction is still challenging due to diverse layout formats according to journal publishers.To accommodate the diversity of the layouts of academic journals,we propose a novel LAyout-aware Metadata Extraction(LAME)framework equipped with the three characteristics(e.g.,design of automatic layout analysis,construction of a large meta-data training set,and implementation of metadata extractor).In the framework,we designed an automatic layout analysis using PDF Miner.Based on the layout analysis,a large volume of metadata-separated training data,including the title,abstract,author name,author affiliated organization,and keywords,were automatically extracted.Moreover,we constructed a pre-trainedmodel,Layout-Meta BERT,to extract the metadata from academic journals with varying layout formats.The experimental results with our metadata extractor exhibited robust performance(Macro-F1,93.27%)in metadata extraction for unseen journals with different layout formats.

文摘运用CiteSpace软件,对2013—2023年中国知网CNKI和Web of Science核心期刊数据库收录的智能家居领域研究型论文进行可视化分析,为我国智能家居研究提供参考。研究发现:在各发文国家中,美国在智能家居领域的贡献最大,我国的研究虽然具有规模,但目前影响力有限。在作者和机构合作方面,国外机构之间的合作程度较高,我国机构之间合作程度有待加强。在研究热点和趋势方面,国内外研究基本围绕着物联网技术、云计算技术、远程控制等,早期国内研究更强调远程控制和数字家庭,而国外研究注重智能电网、传感器和意见反馈;后期国内研究侧重传感器技术和人工智能交互,国外研究则侧重于能源利用和隐私保护。
