Landscape Architecture in Literature Classics——Comparative Analysis of Gardens in A Dream in Red Mansions and The Story of Genji

In the study of two similar literature masterpieces, A Dream in Red Mansions and The Story of Genji, garden planning, plant selection, aesthetic conception, descriptions about gardens, religious elements, architectura... In the study of two similar literature masterpieces, A Dream in Red Mansions and The Story of Genji, garden planning, plant selection, aesthetic conception, descriptions about gardens, religious elements, architectural decorations and touring ways in both works were comparatively analyzed. Differences in geological conditions, social backgrounds, aesthetic traditions and religious beliefs led to different development trends of gardens in China and Japan. Chinese gardens were largely influenced by humanistic and cultural elements, famous for poetic and artistic conceptions, while Japanese gardens covered by religious colors, and most of its private gardens built with Buddhist preferences just like temple gardens. Chinese gardens valued the application of diversified plant species, while Japanese gardens favored evergreen plants, not flowers. Chinese preferred sightseeing in scenery, but Japanese preferred meditation, which means that, there were different touring ways in two countries. In conclusion, social and cultural differences contributed to the literati garden with profound humanity background in China and the Buddhist garden of religious colors in Japan. 展开更多

The Substructure of Elementary Particles Demonstrated by the I-Theory

Present studies in physics assume that elementary particles are the building blocks of all matter, and that they are zero-dimensional objects which do not occupy space. The new I-Theory predicts that elementary particles do indeed have a substructure, three dimensions, and occupy space, being composed of fundamental particles called I-particles. In this article we identify the substructural pattern of elementary particles and define the quanta of energy that form each elementary particle. We demonstrate that the substructure comprises two classes of quanta which we call “attraction quanta” and “repulsion quanta”. We create a model that defines the rest-mass energy of each elementary particle and can predict new particles. Lastly, in order to incorporate this knowledge into the contemporary models of science, a revised periodic table is proposed. 展开更多

Almost all the studies both domestic and international using white rot fungus for dye wastewater treatment are performed under sterile conditions. However, it is obviously unpractical that wastewater with dyes is treated under sterile conditions. A feasible study was made for using white rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium to degrade reactive brilliant red K-2BP dye under non-sterile conditions. The results showed that there was no decolorizing effect under non-sterile condition if white rot fungus was incubated under non-sterile condition, and the decolorization was always near to 0% during decolorizing test for 3 d; in the meantime, a lot of yeast funguses were found in liquid medium when white rot fungus was incubated under non-sterile conditions; however, if white rot fungus was incubated under sterile condition firstly, its decolorization was above 90% under non-sterile condition, which was similar to that of sterile condition. So we point out that the treating process for wastewater with dyes should be divided into two stages. The first stage is that white rot fungus should be incubated under sterile conditions, and the second stage is that reactive brilliant red K-2BP is decolorized under non-sterile conditions. The method not only save the operation cost which decolorizing reactive brilliant red K-2BP under sterile condition, but also provide the feasibility for using white rot fungus to degrade wastewater with dyes under non-sterile conditions. 展开更多

Their seed traits such as seed length, seed width, thickness of seed and 1 000-grain weight were comparatively analyzed. [ Result] The average seed length, average seed width, average seed thickness and average 1 000-grain weight of white flower Platycodon grandiflorum were all smaller than these of purple flower Platycodon grandiflorum. The seed length of Korean white flower Platycodon grandiflorum was relatively longer and seed lengths of other white flower Platycodon grandiflorum were all shorter than these of purple flower Platycodon grandiflorum. The seed widths of white flower Platycodon grandiflorum were smaller than these of purple flower P/atycodon grandiflorum, except these of Korean white flower Platycodon grandiflorum, Heilongjiang Ning'an and South Korean Jiangyuan. The 1 000-grain weights of white flower Platycodon grandiflorum were all smaller than these of purple flower Platycodon grandiflorum, except these of Korean Rajin and Sancheng white flower Platycodon grandiflorum. In order to prepare fluorescent material for white Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), a new Eu^3+ activated molybdate phosphor SrMoO4 was fabricated with solid-state method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that the doping of trivalent europium ion reduced the lattice parameters. The excitation and emission spectra indicated that this phosphor could be excited effectively by the visible light, and then emitted red light with the peaks located at 616 and 624 nm. The influence of Eu^3+ concentration on the luminescent properties of Eu^3+ doped SrMoO4 was investigated and the 25% (mole fraction) was the appropriate molar concentration. The reaction time and temperature had obvious effect on the luminescent properties. The luminescent intensity reached the strongest when it was sintered at 800 ℃ for 3 h. 展开更多

Rupr.) and Mangolian scotch pine (Pinus cylvesthe var. mongolica) are different Some differences are very conspicuous,(e. g. compressivc strength parallel to grain, modulus of elasticity in static bending, toughness and bending strength etc. ),and others are slightly conSPicuous or not conspicuous,(e.g. shrinkage, differential shrinkage and shearing strength parallel to grain etc.). The properties of white wood of Dahurian larch are suitable weight and soft texture, median strength,median shrinkage and good in worability, while which of Mongolian scotch pine are light and soft nearly very soft,weak strength, median shrinkage are good in workability. This paper mainly explores the Australian Aboriginal-white relationship in two novels: The Secret River (2005) by non-Indigenous writer Kate Grenville, and Carpentaria (2006) by Indigenous novelist Alexis Wright, and compares the discursive strategies and narrative devices the authors have adopted to represent whiteness and Indigeneity, one from the European settlers' point of view, the other from the standpoint of an Aboriginal author. In The Secret River, Grenville resorts to the genre of historical novel as a way of reconciling the past. Though the novel challenges the racialised stereotypes of the Aboriginal people by adopting a double perspective (a reconfigured white perspective to refute the colonists' views), the moral ambiguity of the settler identity is still complicit with the colonial discourse. On the other hand, Carpentaria rejects a narrow, essentialist categorization of the Aboriginal people and defamiliarises the concept of whiteness by foregrounding it in a critique rather than as the default norm. Set in a narrative related to the oral tradition, the novel brings Aboriginal cosmology into full play A comparison of the two novels provides a panoramic view of how the Aboriginal-white relationships are presented through the literary imaginary in Australia. 展开更多

The kidneys and the blood system mutually exert infuence in maintaining homeostasis in the body. Because the kidneys control erythropoiesis by producing erythropoietinand by supporting hematopoiesis, anemia is associated with kidney diseases. Anemia is the most prevalent genetic disorder, and it is caused by a deficiency of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), for which sulfhydryl oxidation due to an insufficient supply of NADPH is a likely direct cause. Elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) result in the sulfhydryl oxidation and hence are another potential cause for anemia. ROS are elevated in red blood cells (RBCs) under superoxide dismutase (SOD1) defciency in C57BL/6 mice. SOD1 defcient miceexhibit characteristics similar to autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) at the gerontic stage. An examination of AIHA-prone New Zealand Black (NZB) mice, which have normal SOD1 and G6PD genes, indicated that ROS levels in RBCs are originally high and further elevated during aging. Transgenic overexpression of human SOD1 in erythroid cells effectively suppresses ROS elevation and ameliorates AIHA symptoms such as elevated anti-RBC antibodies and premature death in NZB mice. These results support the hypothesis that names oxidative stress as a risk factor for AIHA and other autoimmune diseases such as SLE. Herein we discuss the association between oxidative stress and SLE pathogenesis based mainly on the genetic and phenotypic characteristics of NZB and New Zealand white mice and provide insight into the mechanism of SLE pathogenesis. 展开更多

Only one herbicide mode of action (ALS inhibitor) is currently available to Ontario dry bean producers for soil-applied broadleaf weed control. Four field studies were conducted over two years (2014, 2015) to examine the tolerance of four market classes of dry beans to sulfentrazone (210 and 420 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) and pyroxasulfone (100 and 200 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) applied alone and in combination. The registration of these two herbicides would provide Ontario dry bean producers with two additional modes of action for broadleaf weed control. Pyroxasulfone caused up to 23%, 6%, 7% and 10% injury in adzuki, kidney, small red Mexican and white bean, respectively;sulfentrazone caused up to 51%, 12%, 15% and 44% injury and the combination caused up to 90%, 23%, 29% and 62% injury, respectively. Kidney and small red Mexican bean density, height, seed moisture content and yield were not affected. Pyroxasulfone (200 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) + sulfentrazone (420 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) reduced adzuki and white bean density, shoot dry weight, height and yield. This study concludes that pyroxasulfone (100 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) + sulfentrazone (210 g&middot;ai&middot;ha<sup>-1</sup>) applied PRE can be safely used to control weeds in Ontario kidney and small red Mexican bean production. 展开更多

Based on the national standard of the "Testing methods for physical &mechanical properties of wood", the parameters of wood colour and physico-mechanical properties of the above two different woods were tested and analyzed.The result showed that the colour rational phenetic parameters, physico-mechanical properties and work abilities of thc two woods were quite different, combincd with the other morphological characteristics, they belong to intraspccific two different types of Dahurian larch. The white wood is superior to the red one as a valuable timber tree. Because the cocfficients of shrinkage, hardness and colour of both are different, they were mixed working in the past, inevitably there have been various defects in working. In order to overcome these defects, we propose that the departments of wood production, salesmen and consumers should use them differently according to their individual character. 展开更多

Gamma Ray Shielding from Saudi White Sand

This study is a comparison of gamma ray linear attenuation coefficient of two typs of shielding materials made of Saudi white and red sand. Each shield was consisted of one part of cement two parts of sand in addi-tion to water. Different thicknesses were tested. The concentrations of all elements in each shield material were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS). The results obtained from the ICP-MS were used in MCNP4B (Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Computer Code System) [1] to calculate the attenuation coefficient. The theoretical (MCNP4B) and the experimental calculations were found to be in a good agreement. In the casw of the largest thickness used, 28cm, the gamma ray intensity passing through the white sand shield was approximately half of the intensity obtained through the red sand shield. The average linear attenuation coefficients were found to be 0.17cm-1 and 0.15cm-1 for white and red sand shields respectively. The study shows that white sand is better for attenuating gamma ray compared to the red sand. 展开更多

At 8 WAE, there was 0, 1% and 4% injury in azuki bean;1%, 2% and 2% injury in kidney bean;3%, 2% and 3% injury in small red bean;and 6%, 3% and 2% injury in white bean with glyphosate + tribenuron, glyphosate + carfentrazone, and glyphosate + tribenuron + carfentrazone applied PP, respectively. The injury was significantly greater with glyphosate + tribenuron in small red and white beans compared to the azuki and kidney beans. There was no difference between injury levels among market classes of dry been with glyphosate + carfentrazone or glyphosate + tribenuron + carfentrazone applied PP. There was no effect of glyphosate + tribenuron, glyphosate + carfentrazone and glyphosate + tribenuron + carfentrazone on dry bean plant stand, maturity and seed yield. However, dry bean biomass was reduced as much as 15% with glyphosate + tribenuron and 13% </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">with glyphosate + tribenuron + carfentrazone compared to the untreated</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> control. Dry bean height was reduced 4% with glyphosate + tribenuron + carfentrazone but was not affected with other treatments. Three types of lightweight aggregate were used in this study for the production of lightweight concrete. These types are red block aggregate, red ceramic aggregate and white thermostone aggregate. All these types have been brought from construction waste. A comparison of the properties of lightweight concrete with normal concrete is the most important goal of this study. The present study aimed to estimate the occurrence of Iron Deficiency anemia (IDA) in school and college going students (aged 11 - 18 years). Anemia is the most public health problem in school age children. It has a wide range of adverse results involving, poor cognitive performance, poor development of infants, preschool and school-aged children. Anemia also causes the impairment of physical capacity, work performance of adolescents and adults, reduction in immune competence and increased morbidity from infections in all age groups. Our study based on 1686 volunteers was randomly selected from different Government High schools and colleges. A Questionnaire was utilized for data collection. BMI was also calculated by dividing weight in kg by the square of height in meters. Hemoglobin (Hb), Hematocrite (Hct), Mean Corpuscular volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), white blood cell (WBC) and red blood cell was examined using Sysmex kx-21N hemoglobin auto analyzer (Hedwin, 2008). The total percentage of anaemic students (43.1%) and non-anaemic (56.9%) were observed in district Shaheed Benazirabad. The mean Hb level of anaemic students (11.1 ± 4.94) was observed. In males (12.7%) and females (30.4%) anemic was observed. The prevalence of anemia high (16.2%) was observed in the age of 14 - 16 years. The majority of anemic patients (30.2%) belonged to low income group. Area wise prevalence, in rural areas 27.8% and urban areas 15.3% volunteers anaemic was observed. Taluka wise occurrence of anaemia in taluka Sakrand was (14.6%), in taluka Kazi Ahmed (15.0%), in taluka Daur (8.0%) and in taluka Nawabshah was (5.5%). Clinically signs and symptoms showed, pale skin 57.7% and weakness 42.3% were observed in school children. 展开更多

Optoelectronic applications require the development of new fluorescent and efficient luminescent materials, free of toxicity, low in cost, and easy to produce. In this way the synthesis of zinc-oxide (ZnO) quantum dots (QDs) has recently received special attention due to their good optical, electrical and chemical properties with low production costs and blue light emission. In this work ZnO QDs were successfully doped with europium in order to obtain a tunable emission luminescence from blue emission of ZnO to red emission of europium as a function of wavelength excitation. Results show an efficient blue to red tuning when the excitation wavelength was changed from 317 nm to 395 nm, respectively. This opens the possibility of having new optical devices to produce different color emission using the same material. 展开更多
