We propose that by mapping and simulating the cosmic web structure, it may be possible to learn if the universe was created in a single big bang that started a single chain of BH explosions mini-creation event cycles, or alternatively, the BH explosions mini-creation event cycles are uncorrelated spacelike events, and the universe had no single primeval atom beginning. .展开更多

This model is based on f(R)-gravity field equations for f(R) = R + f2R2, hydrostatic equilibrium equation and a polytropic equation of state. We compare the results obtained with those found by Newtonian theory. It has been observed that in these systems, where high curvature regimes emerge, stellar structure equations undergo modifications. Despite the simplicity of this model, the results are satisfactory. The estimated values of pressure, density and temperature of the stars are within those determined by observations. This f(R)-gravity model has proved to be necessary to describe stars with strong fields such as white dwarfs, neutron stars and brown dwarfs, while stars with weaker fields, such as red giants and the Sun, are best described by Newtonian theory.展开更多

This novel shows the damage of internalized racial discrimination in the perspective of the little black girl, and illustrating the disastrous consequences of the alienation between the black and their native culture.Although slavery was abolished after the American Civil War, racial discriminations against blacks were far from eradication. The double exploitation of social system and social consciousness, combined with the continuously deepen thought that blacks are despicable race, eventually lead to the irresistible tragedy.展开更多

They have shown to exhibit anti-cancer, anti-microbial, anti-oxidative, and im- mune-modulatory effects in vertebrates. Herein the effect of additional apple pomace or red-grape pomace in conven- tional piglet starter feeds were investigated in 36 young growing piglets. Immunological marker gene expression was quantified by quantitative real-time RT-PCR in white blood cells, and intestinal bacterial flora was investigated from weaning to three weeks post weaning. Polyphenol content in red-grape pomace, gut content and tissues were analyzed with HPLC. Flavan-3-ols (epicatechin and catechin) and proanthocyanidins (B1, B2 and C1) were identified in the gas- tro-intestinal tract content, whereas only traces could be detected in various piglet organs. The blood parameters, he- moglobin and hematocrit, were affected and down-regulated in all groups over testing period. In both pomace treated groups more thrombocytes were present compared to the standard feeding group. It turns out, that the pomace diets had greatest impact on the bacterial content in the colon. Results demonstrate that feeding apple pomace and red- grape pomace tended to increase the number of total colonic bacteria. Steptococci/Enterococci increased in the red- grape pomace. C. perfringens was not detectable at the second time point. The number of lactobacilli increased in both applied diets. The number of Clostridium perfringens decreased with the age of the piglets. Trends of mRNA expression changes were found in white blood cell (WBC) between different feeding regimens, since the expression variability in the groups was very high. Between the different time points there were significant differences within the apple pomace group, where TNF? (p = 0.033), NF?B (p = 0.024) and Caspase 3 (p = 0.019) mRNA expression increased signifi- cantly during treatment. We conclude that both polyphenol rich feedings have the potential to positively influence the intestinal flora, blood parameters, and WBC mRNA gene expression pattern of immunological marker genes.展开更多

METHODS Patients were randomised to high definition white light endoscopy(HD-WLE) or the bright narrow band imaging(b NBI) during withdrawal of the colonoscope. Polyps identified in either mode were characterised using b NBI with dual focus(b NBI-DF) according to the Sano's classification. The primary outcome was to compare adenoma detection rates(ADRs) between the two arms. The secondary outcome was to assess the negative predictive value(NPV) in differentiating adenomas from hyperplastic polyps for diminutive rectosigmoid lesions.RESULTS A total of 1006 patients were randomised to HD-WLE(n = 511) or b NBI(n = 495). The mean of adenoma per patient was 1.62 and 1.84, respectively. The ADRs in b NBI and HD-WLE group were 37.4% and 39.3%, respectively. When adjusted for withdrawal time(OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 1.15-1.24, P < 0.001), the use of b NBI was associated with a reduced ADR(OR = 0.69, 95%CI: 0.52-0.92). Nine hundred and thirty three polyps(86%) in both arms were predicted with high confidence. The sensitivity(Sn), specificity(Sp), positive predictive value and NPV in differentiating adenomatous from non-adenomatous polyps of all sizes were 95.9%, 87.2%, 94.0% and 91.1% respectively. The NPV in differentiating an adenoma from hyperplastic polyp using b NBI-DF for diminutive rectal polyps was 91.0%.CONCLUSION ADRs did not differ between b NBI and HD-WLE, however HD-WLE had higher ADR after adjustment of withdrawal time. b NBI surpassed the PIVI threshold for diminutive polyps.展开更多

In The Secret River, Grenville resorts to the genre of historical novel as a way of reconciling the past. Though the novel challenges the racialised stereotypes of the Aboriginal people by adopting a double perspective (a reconfigured white perspective to refute the colonists' views), the moral ambiguity of the settler identity is still complicit with the colonial discourse. On the other hand, Carpentaria rejects a narrow, essentialist categorization of the Aboriginal people and defamiliarises the concept of whiteness by foregrounding it in a critique rather than as the default norm. Set in a narrative related to the oral tradition, the novel brings Aboriginal cosmology into full play A comparison of the two novels provides a panoramic view of how the Aboriginal-white relationships are presented through the literary imaginary in Australia.展开更多
