Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has been perceived as a malignancy that is resistant to systemic chemotherapy for long periods of time.Despite initial efforts that were supported by the NCI to help elucidate any potentia...Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has been perceived as a malignancy that is resistant to systemic chemotherapy for long periods of time.Despite initial efforts that were supported by the NCI to help elucidate any potential role for systemic doxorubicin,no standard of care was approved and acknowledged for HCC until the advent of sorafenib.Sorafenib,a multi-kinase inhibitor with an anti-angiogenic effect,was evaluated in a large phase III clinical trial versus placebo and showed a clear improvement of survival in its favor,which helped establish it as a standard of care.This was back in 2007,and since then we lingered in a long hiatus of several genuine attempts to test potentially more powerful anti-angiogenics to no avail.In 2017,things changed markedly with 4 clinical trials showing improvements in survival or non-inferiority outcome.In the first line setting,lenvatinib,another multi-kinase inhibitor with anti-angiogenic and anti-FGF activity showed non-inferiority versus sorafenib and is now FDA approved.In the second line setting,regorafenib.another multikinase inhibitor with ample similarity to sorafenib but some differences showed improvement in survival after progression on sorafenib when tested against placebo.Cabozantinib,another multi-kinase inhibitor with anti-c-met activity also showed an improvement in survival versus placebo,while ramicirumab also showed an improvement in survival versus placebo in the same setting yet only for patients with elevated alpha fetoprotein(AFP).The advent of checkpoint inhibitors has already led to the approval of anti-PD-1 nivolumab in the second line setting based on a response rate of 15%-20%despite the lack of survival data.Ongoing studies are now evaluating the combination of different checkpoint inhibitors and also the combination of checkpoint inhibitors plus multikinase inhibitors.This incredible increase in the number of targeted therapies and checkpoint inhibitors from 1 to 6 cannot go unnoticed,adding to the already reported positive outcome data that led to the approval of FOLFOX as a first line therapy in China.The most crucial challenge now is choosing a therapy based on the ample amount of positive outcome data.This is expected to be driven by the basis of biology that would help pick one therapy versus the other.Other important variables are ethnicity and etiology.We still have yet to understand the genetic and biological differences,if any.展开更多

Based on previous studies, this paper summarizes the distribution and forms, sedi- mentary characteristics, formation mechanism, developing age, reddening process and the paleo-environment, suggesting that the Old Red Sand is mainly aeolian sediment of Late Pleistocene Age. The reddening process is mainly the result of decomposition and oxidation of iron-containing minerals caused by hot and humid tropical and sub-tropical climate. Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide.In recent years,the occurrence rate of MAFLD has been on the rise,mainly due to lifestyle changes,high-calorie ...Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide.In recent years,the occurrence rate of MAFLD has been on the rise,mainly due to lifestyle changes,high-calorie diets,and imbalanced dietary structures,thereby posing a threat to human health and creating heavy social and economic burdens.With the development of 16S sequencing and integrated multi-omics analysis,the role of the gut microbiota(GM)and its metabolites in MAFLD has been further recognized.The GM plays a role in digestion,energy metabolism,vitamin synthesis,the prevention of pathogenic bacteria colonisation,and immunoregulation.The gut-liver axis is one of the vital links between the GM and the liver.Toxic substances in the intestine can enter the liver through the portal vascular system when the intestinal barrier is severely damaged.The liver also influences the GM in various ways,such as bile acid circulation.The gut-liver axis is essential in maintaining the body’s normal physiological state and plays a role in the onset and prognosis of many diseases,including MAFLD.This article reviews the status of the GM and MAFLD and summarizes the GM characteristics in MAFLD.The relationship between the GM and MAFLD is discussed in terms of bile acid circulation,energy metabolism,micronutrients,and signalling pathways.Current MAFLD treat ments targeting the GM are also listed.展开更多

The South Yellow Sea Basin is a large sedimentary basin superimposed by the Mesozoic-Paleozoic marine sedimentary basin and the Mesozoic-Cenozoic terrestrial sedimentary basin, where no oil and gas fields have been di...The South Yellow Sea Basin is a large sedimentary basin superimposed by the Mesozoic-Paleozoic marine sedimentary basin and the Mesozoic-Cenozoic terrestrial sedimentary basin, where no oil and gas fields have been discovered after exploration for 58 years. After the failure of oil and gas exploration in terrestrial basins, the exploration target of the South Yellow Sea Basin turned to the marine Mesozoic- Paleozoic strata. After more than ten years' investigation and research, a lot of achievements have been obtained. The latest exploration obtained effective seismic reflection data of deep marine facies by the application of seismic exploration technology characterized by high coverage, abundant low-frequency components and strong energy source for the deep South Yellow Sea Basin. In addition, some wells drilled the Middle-Upper Paleozoic strata, with obvious oil and gas shows discovered in some horizons. The recent petroleum geological research on the South Yellow Sea Basin shows that the structure zoning of the marine residual basin has been redetermined, the basin structure has been defined, and 3 seismic reflection marker layers are traceable and correlatable in the residual thick Middle-Paleozoic strata below the continental Meso-Cenozoic strata in the South Yellow Sea Basin. Based on these, the seismic sequence of the marine sedimentary strata was established. According to the avaliable oil and gas exploration and research, the marine Mesozoic-Paleozoic oil and gas prospects of the South Yellow Sea were predicted as follows.(1) The South Yellow Sea Basin has the same sedimentary formation and evolution history during the sedimentary period of the Middle-Paleozoic marine basin with the Sichuan Basin.(2) There are 3 regional high-quality source rocks.(3) The carbonate and clastic reservoirs are developed in the Mesozoic- Paleozoic strata.(4) The three source-reservoir-cap assemblages are relatively intact.(5) The Laoshan Uplift is a prospect area for the Lower Paleozoic oil and gas, and the Wunansha Uplift is one for the marine Upper Paleozoic oil and gas.(6) The Gaoshi stable zone in the Laoshan Uplift is a favorable zone.(7) The marine Mesozoic-Paleozoic strata in the South Yellow Sea Basin has the geological conditions required to form large oil and gas fields, with remarkable oil and gas resources prospect. An urgent problem to be addressed now within the South Yellow Sea Basin is to drill parametric wells for the Lower Paleozoic strata as the target, to establish the complete stratigraphic sequence since the Paleozoic period, to obtain resource evaluation parameters, and to realize the strategic discovery and achieve breakthrough in oil and gas exploration understanding.展开更多

Merr.) is a non-native and non-staple crop in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA) with potential to be a commercial crop owing to its wide range of uses as food, feed,and industrial raw material. Soybean w...Soybean(Glycine max(L.) Merr.) is a non-native and non-staple crop in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA) with potential to be a commercial crop owing to its wide range of uses as food, feed,and industrial raw material. Soybean was first introduced to SSA by Chinese traders in the19 th century and was cultivated as an economic crop as early as 1903 in South Africa. In the past four decades, soybean cultivation area and production in SSA has increased exponentially, from about 20,000 ha and 13,000 t in the early 1970 s to 1,500,000 ha and2,300,000 t in 2016. Soybean yield has been stagnant in SSA for decades at about 1.1 t ha^(-1),much lower than the world average, representing one of the most challenging issues in the soybean industry in SSA. The low soybean yield in SSA can be attributed to the use of poorperforming varieties and to the limited application of fertilizers and rhizobial inoculants in soils with no history of soybean production. South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, and Uganda are the leading soybean producers in SSA. Soybean research in SSA is conducted by international and national research institutions, including IITA, national soybean improvement programs, universities, and the private sector. Between 1970 and 2011, 195 soybean varieties were released by IITA, private breeders, and national soybean improvement programs in SSA. This paper reviews the history and current state of soybean production and of the utilization and adoption of tropical varieties in SSA, addresses the major soybean yield-limiting factors across the region, and discusses the potential of the soybean industry in SSA. It also highlights soybean improvement efforts and lessons learned from previous soybean improvement efforts and the current progress of some national soybean improvement programs in SSA. Opportunities for scaling up tropical soybean as a major crop across SSA countries are promising.展开更多

文摘Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide.In recent years,the occurrence rate of MAFLD has been on the rise,mainly due to lifestyle changes,high-calorie diets,and imbalanced dietary structures,thereby posing a threat to human health and creating heavy social and economic burdens.With the development of 16S sequencing and integrated multi-omics analysis,the role of the gut microbiota(GM)and its metabolites in MAFLD has been further recognized.The GM plays a role in digestion,energy metabolism,vitamin synthesis,the prevention of pathogenic bacteria colonisation,and immunoregulation.The gut-liver axis is one of the vital links between the GM and the liver.Toxic substances in the intestine can enter the liver through the portal vascular system when the intestinal barrier is severely damaged.The liver also influences the GM in various ways,such as bile acid circulation.The gut-liver axis is essential in maintaining the body’s normal physiological state and plays a role in the onset and prognosis of many diseases,including MAFLD.This article reviews the status of the GM and MAFLD and summarizes the GM characteristics in MAFLD.The relationship between the GM and MAFLD is discussed in terms of bile acid circulation,energy metabolism,micronutrients,and signalling pathways.Current MAFLD treat ments targeting the GM are also listed.

文摘The South Yellow Sea Basin is a large sedimentary basin superimposed by the Mesozoic-Paleozoic marine sedimentary basin and the Mesozoic-Cenozoic terrestrial sedimentary basin, where no oil and gas fields have been discovered after exploration for 58 years. After the failure of oil and gas exploration in terrestrial basins, the exploration target of the South Yellow Sea Basin turned to the marine Mesozoic- Paleozoic strata. After more than ten years' investigation and research, a lot of achievements have been obtained. The latest exploration obtained effective seismic reflection data of deep marine facies by the application of seismic exploration technology characterized by high coverage, abundant low-frequency components and strong energy source for the deep South Yellow Sea Basin. In addition, some wells drilled the Middle-Upper Paleozoic strata, with obvious oil and gas shows discovered in some horizons. The recent petroleum geological research on the South Yellow Sea Basin shows that the structure zoning of the marine residual basin has been redetermined, the basin structure has been defined, and 3 seismic reflection marker layers are traceable and correlatable in the residual thick Middle-Paleozoic strata below the continental Meso-Cenozoic strata in the South Yellow Sea Basin. Based on these, the seismic sequence of the marine sedimentary strata was established. According to the avaliable oil and gas exploration and research, the marine Mesozoic-Paleozoic oil and gas prospects of the South Yellow Sea were predicted as follows.(1) The South Yellow Sea Basin has the same sedimentary formation and evolution history during the sedimentary period of the Middle-Paleozoic marine basin with the Sichuan Basin.(2) There are 3 regional high-quality source rocks.(3) The carbonate and clastic reservoirs are developed in the Mesozoic- Paleozoic strata.(4) The three source-reservoir-cap assemblages are relatively intact.(5) The Laoshan Uplift is a prospect area for the Lower Paleozoic oil and gas, and the Wunansha Uplift is one for the marine Upper Paleozoic oil and gas.(6) The Gaoshi stable zone in the Laoshan Uplift is a favorable zone.(7) The marine Mesozoic-Paleozoic strata in the South Yellow Sea Basin has the geological conditions required to form large oil and gas fields, with remarkable oil and gas resources prospect. An urgent problem to be addressed now within the South Yellow Sea Basin is to drill parametric wells for the Lower Paleozoic strata as the target, to establish the complete stratigraphic sequence since the Paleozoic period, to obtain resource evaluation parameters, and to realize the strategic discovery and achieve breakthrough in oil and gas exploration understanding.

文摘Soybean(Glycine max(L.) Merr.) is a non-native and non-staple crop in sub-Saharan Africa(SSA) with potential to be a commercial crop owing to its wide range of uses as food, feed,and industrial raw material. Soybean was first introduced to SSA by Chinese traders in the19 th century and was cultivated as an economic crop as early as 1903 in South Africa. In the past four decades, soybean cultivation area and production in SSA has increased exponentially, from about 20,000 ha and 13,000 t in the early 1970 s to 1,500,000 ha and2,300,000 t in 2016. Soybean yield has been stagnant in SSA for decades at about 1.1 t ha^(-1),much lower than the world average, representing one of the most challenging issues in the soybean industry in SSA. The low soybean yield in SSA can be attributed to the use of poorperforming varieties and to the limited application of fertilizers and rhizobial inoculants in soils with no history of soybean production. South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, and Uganda are the leading soybean producers in SSA. Soybean research in SSA is conducted by international and national research institutions, including IITA, national soybean improvement programs, universities, and the private sector. Between 1970 and 2011, 195 soybean varieties were released by IITA, private breeders, and national soybean improvement programs in SSA. This paper reviews the history and current state of soybean production and of the utilization and adoption of tropical varieties in SSA, addresses the major soybean yield-limiting factors across the region, and discusses the potential of the soybean industry in SSA. It also highlights soybean improvement efforts and lessons learned from previous soybean improvement efforts and the current progress of some national soybean improvement programs in SSA. Opportunities for scaling up tropical soybean as a major crop across SSA countries are promising.
文摘Precision blasting,which is different from traditional control blasting,is regarded as the sign of new development stage of engineering blasting.The definition,connotation,technology system and current situation of its application and development were described briefly.With regard to the prospect of precision blasting,following aspects for further study are recommended:a.A multiple disciplinary study should be developed for a more understanding on the explosive energy release and quantitative blasting design;b.according to the requirements of digital blasting objective,syncretic study of precision blasting and technology should be enhanced;c.numerical simulation was an important tool for optimizing engineering blasting scheme and blasting harmful effects control,a more elaborate precision numerical simulation method should be studied furthermore;d.the modernization and standardization of precision blasting construction should be enhanced.
