In the game...In this paper, we carry out QoE (Quality of Experience) assessment to investigate influences of olfactory and auditory senses on fairness for a networked virtual 3D object identification game with haptics. In the game, two players try to identify objects which are placed in a shared 3D virtual space. In the assessment, we carry out the game in four cases. Smells and sounds are presented in the first case, only sounds are done in the second case, and only smells are done in the third case. In the last case, we present neither smell nor sound. As a result, we demonstrate that the fairness deteriorates more largely as the difference in conditions between two users becomes larger.展开更多

We also make a comparison of the fairness among different types of networked games with olfactory and haptic senses in the assessment. Then, we clarify the differences owing to usage of olfactory and haptic senses among the games. As a result, we illustrate that the fairness is largely affected by the delay difference, and we also demonstrate that the allowable range depends on the type of games, type of senses which are employed in the games, and the play methods.展开更多

Increasing efficiency of the spectrum usage is an urgent need as an intrinsic result of the rapidly increasing number of wireless users and the conversion of voice-oriented applications to multimedia applications. Spectrum sensing techniques in cognitive radio technology work upon an optimal usage of the available spectrum determined by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). In this paper, the performance of a cooperative cognitive radio spectrum sensing detection based on the correlation sum method by utilizing the multiuser multiple input multiple output (MU_MIMO) technique over fading and Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel is analyzed. Equalization is used at the receiver to compensate the effect of fading channels and improve the reliability of spectrum sensing. The performance is compared with the performance of Energy detection technique. The simulation results show that the detection performance of cooperative correlation sum method is more efficient than that obtained for the cooperative Energy detection technique.展开更多

However, the task is not only data-intensive but also computating-intensive. Distributed processing is a hot topic in remote sensing processing and image deblurring is also one of the most important needs. In order to satisfy the demand for quick proc- essing and deblurring of mass quantity satellite images, we developed a distributed, grid computation-based platform as well as a corresponding middleware for grid computation. Both a constrained power spectrum equalization algorithm and effective block processing measures, which can avoid boundary effect, were applied during the processing. The re- sult is satisfactory since computation efficiency and visual effect were greatly improved. It can be concluded that the technology of spatial information grids is effective for mass quantity remote sensing image processing.展开更多

In block transmission, a unique word(UW) can be used as a cyclic prefix and reference signal. However, the DCS-based channel estimation requires diversity sequences instead of UW. In this paper, we proposed a novel method that employs a training sequence(TS) whose duration time is slightly longer than the maximum delay spread time. Based on proposed TS, the DCS approach perform perfectly in multipath channel estimation. Meanwhile, a cyclic prefix construct could be formed, which reduces the complexity of the frequency domain equalization(FDE) directly. Simulation results demonstrate that, by using the method of simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit(SOMP), the required channel overhead has been reduced thanks to the proposed TS.展开更多
Organizations are facing challenges to cope with gender equity in the presence of a diverse workforce.The present study investigates the moderating impact of Islamic work ethics on the organizational justicegender equ...Organizations are facing challenges to cope with gender equity in the presence of a diverse workforce.The present study investigates the moderating impact of Islamic work ethics on the organizational justicegender equity relationship.Self-administered questionnaires were sent to employees working in a large private university in a State of Qatar.This study collected data from 250 employees with 66.12%response rate.The present study employed structural equation modelling to analyse data in SmartPLS 3.0 and SPSS version 24.Empirical findings revealed the significant relationship of distributive justice and interactional justice with gender equity.Procedural justice did not relate to gender equity.Furthermore,Islamic work ethics also moderated the relationship of interactional justice with gender equity.Limitations and implications have been added at the end of paper.This study is first in its nature revealing the conditional factor of Islamic work ethics on the organizational justicegender equity relationship.展开更多
