The aim of the present study was to determine and compare the prevalence of metabolic abnormalities and metabolic syndrome (MetS) among pre- and post-men- opausal women living in urban areas in Cameroon. A total of 499 women were recruited during a mass health campaign in 2018. Metabolic abnormalities were diagnosed using International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria. MetS was defined using IDF criteria with slight modification (total cholesterol used instead of HDL cholesterol). Logistic regression was used to estimate the association between menopausal status and metabolic abnormalities and MetS in age control and non-control models. The prevalence of high waist- to-hip ratio (56.8% vs 36.3%, p < 0.001), elevated fasting blood glucose (glycemia ≥ 100 mg/dL) (38.7% vs 26.9%, p = 0.006);diabetes (14.6% vs 5.7%, p = 0.001);high triglycerides level (29.7% vs 17.1%, p = 0.002);hyperlipidemia (high total cholesterol and or triglycerides levels) (45.0% vs 30.8%, p = 0.002);and elevated blood pressure (67.9% vs 56.1%, p = 0.007) were higher among post-menopausal than pre-menopausal women. The overall prevalence of MetS was 30.1% and post-menopausal women were more affected (33.8% vs 25.0%;p = 0.034). The odds ratio of MetS was 1.888 (95% CI: 1.016 - 3.507) when age was covariate, but was slightly reduced without age control (OR = 1.532;95% CI: 1.031 - 2.275). Metabolic abnormalities seem to be a major health problem among Cameroonian women and menopausal status increased the risk of developing a cardiovascular event.展开更多

Even if, there were some articles, contrary to the equality of men and women, they were ignored when they were compared with the reforms performed in favor of women. The surname of woman was one of the issues where there was gender discrimination. In the Civil Code of 1926, it was stated that the married woman must have taken her husband's surname after the official marriage and she had to use it through her marriage life. In 1997, there was an amendment in TCC Article 153 that the married woman had the right to register her maiden name in front of her husband's surname which was also accepted in the new TCC in Article 187 in 2002. As the equality of the spouses is neglected under Article 187, many women are trying to change the current situation, by lawsuits. In this article, the regulations about the surname, will be discussed under personality rights and identity, within the current legislation with some court decisions from the last years in favor of women.展开更多

I examine a potential approach for engendering the right to development which synthesises socio-economic rights and substantive equality to capabilities. Finally, I evaluate the extent to which CEDAW represents this optimal synthesis, albeit with some important limitations.展开更多

The development of these industries has given a positive impulse to the development of the whole economy. In this analysis, it is used multiple regressions as one of the most important statistical methods. In the first part of this paper, it shows the connection among the growth of female employment, growth in frozen food expenditure and growth of GDP in United Kingdom. In the second part of paper, it shows the relationship among the growth of labor force participation of women, growth of number of kindergarten and growth of GDP in Hungary. To proof these relationships, it used a multiple regression model. This statistical model was tested by using the T schedule which showed that the model in both the analyses is correct. At the end of the paper, it presents that employment rate and GDP behaves in the same way in European Union. These analyses show that it is necessary to continue to strengthen gender equality if the policy makers want to achieve even greater economic growth. The issue of gender equality is a very important factor in creating employment policy, and statisticians should be more involved in process of employment policy and gender equality展开更多

文摘Recently, gender equality and women’s entrepreneurship have gained considerable attention in global economic development.Prior to the design of any policy interventions to increase women’s entrepreneurship,it is significant to comprehend the factors motivating women to become entrepreneurs. The non-understanding of the factors can result in the endurance of low living stan-dards and the design of expensive and ineffectual policies. But female involve-ment in entrepreneurship becomes higher in developing economies compared to developed economies.Women Entrepreneurship Index(WEI)plays a vital role in determining the factors that enable theflourishment of high potential female entrepreneurs which enhances economic welfare and contributes to the economic and social fabric of society. Therefore,it is needed to design an automated and accurate WEI prediction model to improve women’s entrepreneurship. In this view, this article develops an automated statistical analysis enabled WEI predic-tive(ASA-WEIP)model.The proposed ASA-WEIP technique aims to effectually determine the WEI.The proposed ASA-WEIP technique encompasses a series of sub-processes such as pre-processing,WEI prediction, and parameter optimiza-tion.For the prediction of WEI,the ASA-WEIP technique makes use of the Deep Belief Network(DBN)model, and the parameter optimization process takes place using Squirrel Search Algorithm(SSA).The performance validation of the ASA-WEIP technique was executed using the benchmark dataset from the Kaggle repo-sitory.The experimental outcomes stated the better outcomes of the ASA-WEIP technique over the other existing techniques.
文摘This paper shows influence of gender equality on economy where it analyzed how gender equality in Europe has affected on the development of the frozen food industry and services related to childcare. The issue of gender equality is a very important factor in creating employment policy, and statisticians should be more involved in process of employment policy and gender equality
文摘The study explores Feminism by focusing broadly on its history and further examining using Marxism and critical discourses by other feminists.Feminism refers to the idea that women and men ought to have equal rights. In 1734,the Swedish Civil Code gave women more rights, most notably prohibiting husbands from selling their wives’possessions without their approval. In her 1790 essay“On the equality of the sexes,”American women’s rights campaigner Judith Sargent Murray claimed that women are just as bright as men.British author Mary Wollstonecraft responded to philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau and other 18th-century Enlightenment intellectuals who did not extend their concepts of freedom to women in her 1792 book A Vindication of the Rights of Women. She challenges the idea that women are less logical than males and opposes the injustice.“Who made man the exclusive judge?”she demands. However,Frenchman Charles Fourier coined the term“feminisme”in 1837,marking the beginning of the concept of feminism. The Victorian Social Convention exalted and imposed the domestic roles of wife and mother on most married middle-class women in 19th-century Britain.Career aspirations were restricted because they were not allowed to receive an education on par with that of males. In The Communist Manifesto,German philosophers and revolutionary political theorists Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels contend that a bourgeois man regards his wife as nothing more than an apparatus of production.According to Engles, the family is at the core of the violence and oppression that women experience.Marxist feminists saw capitalism and patriarchy as the two fundamental systems that supported the subjugation of women. The British writer and social theorist Harriet Taylor Mill underlined that a lady who could support the family financially and had a good education would be respected by her husband and treated as a partner. However, men utilize rape as a means of controlling women,as seen by the social inequities that still affect women today. It’s shocking to learn that rape was a taboo topic until 1975 when Susan Brownmiller authored Against Our Will:Men,Women, and Rape. There was a notion that said women’s sexuality encourages rape, hence the guilt was frequently placed on the female victims.Nonetheless, postcolonial feminists such as Chandra Talpade Mohanty contend that regardless of their status as powerful or marginal, wealthy or not, women residing in non-Western nations are presumed to be impoverished, uninformed, uneducated, sexually restricted,tradition-bound,and victims.FGM(female genital cutting)has been a custom for at least 2,500 years, still practiced in thirty countries, mostly in Africa,Indonesia, and the Middle East.It is not connected to chastity and purity, guaranteeing that women remain virgins until marriage and remain faithful afterward. In this essay,Finally,I have looked at how women have faced discrimination in a variety of settings, including the home and the workplace, for millennia due to their gender.
文摘Elimination of discrimination in all forms against women, equality between men and women and protection of women’s rights and interests-this has always been a state policy pursued by the Chinese government in striving for economic development and social progress. The government has adopted a complete range of measures to ensure full implementation of this state policy. Legislation Equality between men and women is a basic principle under China’s legal system. The Constitution provides that men and women shall enjoy equal political, economic and cultural rights and that women
