Research on the Assessment System of Computational Mechanics Courses Based on the TOPSIS Entropy Weight Model

This paper takes the assessment and evaluation of computational mechanics course as the background,and constructs a diversified course evaluation system that is student-centered and integrates both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods.The system not only pays attention to students’practical operation and theoretical knowledge mastery but also puts special emphasis on the cultivation of students’innovative abilities.In order to realize a comprehensive and objective evaluation,the assessment and evaluation method of the entropy weight model combining TOPSIS(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution)multi-attribute decision analysis and entropy weight theory is adopted,and its validity and practicability are verified through example analysis.This method can not only comprehensively and objectively evaluate students’learning outcomes,but also provide a scientific decision-making basis for curriculum teaching reform.The implementation of this diversified course evaluation system can better reflect the comprehensive ability of students and promote the continuous improvement of teaching quality.

Research and Practice on the Multi-dimensional Course Goal Achievement Evaluation of Software Engineering

According to the standards of engineering education accreditation,the achievement paths and evaluation criteria of course goals are presented,aimed at the objectives of software engineering courses and the characteristics of hybrid teaching in Kunming University of Science and Technology.Then a multi-dimensional evaluation system for course goal achievement of software engineering is proposed.The practice’s results show that the multi-dimensional course goal achievement evaluation is helpful to the continuous improvement of course teaching,which can effectively support the evaluation of graduation outcomes.

Landscape Evaluation of Urban Golf Courses Based on the AHP-Fuzzy Method:A Case Study of Dianchi Lakeview Golf Course in Kunming, Yunnan, China

Taking Dianchi Lakeview Golf Course in Kunming, Yunnan, China as the object of landscape evaluation, this paper constructed an evaluation index system with the functionality, beauty and ecology of the golf course as the criteria, carried out the landscape evaluation of Dianchi Lakeview Golf Course using the semantic differential (SD), the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and other methods, and discussed the methods, indicators and models of landscape evaluation of urban golf courses.

A Brief Analysis and Evaluation of the Frequently Used College English Course Book——Listening and Speaking Course

This paper does some research and exploration of one of the most commonly used Chinese college English course book:Listening and Speaking Course(Second Edition 2010)compiled by Yu Shumei and Li Huiqin.It introduces the aims of the textbookand its structure.By evaluating the teaching functions of differnt parts,it can be safely concluded that this textbook is well quali-fied to be used.However,being inadequate in teaching listening strategies and lacking in teaching speaking strategies can affectstudents'listening and speaking in the long run.Therefore,it is strongly recommended that teachers should add more practicalstrategies and useful materials in their teaching procedures to make the textbook more applicable.

A Study of Students' Achievement Evaluation Modes Based on Practical Courses concerning Higher Vocational Gardening Technology Major

True,objective and impartial course and achievement evaluation is the requirement of modern higher vocational education,and can avoid " high scores and low abilities" of students to the maximum. This article focuses on expounding the " two connections and five combinations" dual evaluation modes of higher vocational gardening technology major students' achievement on practical courses,namely connection between major and industry; connection between achievement and occupation; combination of on-campus and off-campus teachers' evaluation;combination of process and results evaluation; combination of course evaluation and professional skill appraisal; combination of students' selfevaluation and teachers' evaluation; combination of examination paper and non-examination paper evaluation; combination of group and individual evaluation.

Scale for Evaluation of Humanities Courses: Development, Reliability and Validity

The present paper deals with development of a course evaluation survey (CES) questionnaire regarding evaluation of humanities courses (e.g., Commerce/Economics/Law) and assessment of its validity and reliability. Taking help from available questionnaires and also incorporating views from the teachers of the related subjects, the relevant Likert type items were selected. The drafted version of the questionnaire was finalized taking into account feedback from the subject experts. The focus was on simple language to ensure clarity to the students to facilitate accuracy of the collected data. The developed questionnaire consists of five domains involving fifteen Likert type items including a global item. For assessment of its reliability and validity, data were collected among two groups of undergraduate students studying two courses namely Accounts (n = 190) and Law (n = 90). For assessing questionnaire, Karl Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient and four factor solutions under factor analysis were used. The analytical results were quite consistent across the data sets (that are, accounts, law and pooled together) that exhibit good psychometric properties. It may thus be concluded that the questionnaire is valid, reliable and may measure what it is intended to measure.

Analysis of Evaluation Data Collected on Likert Type Items: Humanities-Courses

To improve high quality and/or retain achieved high quality of an academic program, time to time evaluation for quality of each covered course is often an integrated aspect considered in reputed institutions, however, there has been little effort regarding humanities courses. This research article deals with analysis of evaluation data collected regarding humanities course from a College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, on Likert type items. Appropriateness of one parametric measure and three non-parametric measures are discussed and used in this regard which could provide useful clues for educational policy planners. Keeping in view of the analytical results using these four measures, regardless of the threshold regarding satisfaction among students, overall performance of almost every subject has been un-satisfactory. There is a need to make a focused approach to take every course at the level of high performance. The inconsistency noticed under every threshold further revealed that under such poorly performing subjects globally, one needs to analyze merely at the global level item. Once the global level analysis reveals high performance of a course, then only item specific analysis may need to be focused to find out the items requiring further improvements.

Research on the Teaching of “Mandarin” Course in Preschool Education Major Under the Occupational Activity Orientation

Along with the increasing demand for kindergarten teachers,as the cradle of talent training,the secondary vocational schools are required to reasonably formulate educational talent training plans according to the needs of social talents,optimize and adjust the teaching of preschool education courses,and improve the effectiveness of education and teaching.Referring to the teaching of the“Mandarin”course in preschool education,the secondary vocational schools need to achieve the following functions,namely,analyze the issues existing in the course teaching according to the results of teaching practice,and then explore the teaching improvement path of“Mandarin”course based on professional activity orientation in line with the“employment-oriented,service-oriented”career education goals,in order to improve the effectiveness of this teaching.

Research on the Reform Orientation of College Ideological and Political Course System under Background of Chinese Dream and New Normal

In this paper, we conduct research on the reform orientation of the college ideological and the political course system under background of the Chinese dream and new normal. The complex phenomenon of ideological and political education to our ideological and political education essence, grasp the law of ideological and political education to increase the difficulty. As an ideological and the political educators, it is necessary to continuously enhance the ability of dealing with the complex problems that is good at through the complex phenomenon of the ideological and political education, understanding and grasping the essence of the ideological and political education. We combine the primary analysis of the Chinese dream and new normal to form the optimal education paradigm for the college ideological and the political course system that is necessary.

Evaluation Principles,Standards and Operating Strategies of Ideological and Political Teaching in Science and Engineering Courses

The reform of ideological and political education in science and engineering courses continues to deepen,and the establishment of a practical teaching evaluation system is the main goal.Combining the relevant requirements of the ideological and political education in science and engineering courses,establishing a teaching evaluation system needs to follow the corresponding principles to ensure that the teaching content is reasonable and the teaching objectives are clear.The selected teaching method is flexible and effective,which facilitates the improvement of teaching quality and feedback of teaching situation.In this regard,the paper mainly analyzes the principles and standards of ideological and political teaching evaluation for science and engineering courses,and chooses reasonable and operable measures in-line with actual requirements to apply them in practice,and strive to serve as a reference for subsequent related research.

Student Evaluations as Effective Indicators of Learning Outcomes:Evidence from Japanese University Students in English Language Courses

The term"student learning outcomes"refers to the knowledge, skills, and abilitiesthat students achieve during a course, and is typically assessed based on student evaluations conducted at the end of the semester. Previous studies in this area have investigated the effects of instructional quality and academic demands separately and have been limited primarily to examining findings using student samples fromthe United States. With Japanese college students' perceptions of self-improvementin English language courses as the dependent variable, the present study directly tests the hypothesis that students who perceive instructional quality to be higher, andcourse demands to be greater, also estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. The analysis provides strong support for this hypothesis.Higher ratings of instruction and academic demands have already beenshown to increase levels of student learning(Greimel-Fuhrmann and Geyer 2003;Nois and Hudson 2006; Mc Fadden and Dart 1992). The present study is the first toprovide direct evidence of the relative importance of student evaluations ofinstructional quality and academic demands as predictors of student learning and thefirst ever to do so with a sample of Japanese college students enrolled in a required English as a foreign language course. Our hypothesis is that Japanese students whoperceive instructional quality to be higher, and course demands to be greater,estimate higher levels of self-improvement in English language skills. Thus we test Japanese students' attitudes toward instructional quality and course demands asindependent variables predicting their perceptions of self-improvement in English language courses. The research focuses on Japanese students' improvement in English language skills because English education in Japan is an arena in which thedebate over limited English proficiency rages on, and because other research suggests reconsideration of English education in light of the demands of the rapidly expanding global era(Amaki 2008).

Material Evaluation:An Analysis of First Insights into Business English

Material evaluation is an important part of our course design in business English teaching.The article attempts a detailed analysis of the textbook First Insights into Business English by using a set of criteria well justified by the relevant course design rationale within a communicative teaching and learning framework.

Distribution Properties of Internal Air Voids in Ultrathin Asphalt Friction Course

The distribution characteristics of air voids in ultrathin asphalt friction course(UAFC) samples with different gradations and compaction methods were statistically analyzed using X-ray computed tomography(CT) and image analysis techniques. Based on the results, compared with the AC-5 sample, the OGFC-5mixture has a higher air void ratio, a larger air void size and a greater number of air voids, with the distribution of internal air voids being more uniform and their shapes being more rounded. The two-parameter Weibull function was applied to fit the gradation of air voids. The fitting results is good, and the function parameters are sensitive to changes in both mineral gradation and compaction method. Moreover, two homogeneity indices were proposed to evaluate the compaction uniformity of UAFC samples. Compared with the Marshall method,the SGC method is more conducive to improve the compaction uniformity of UAFC samples. The compaction method significantly influences the air void distribution characteristics and compaction uniformity of AC-5sample, but has a less significant impact on OGFC-5 sample. The experimental results in the study provides a solid foundation for further explorations on the internal structure and mixture design of UAFC.

On Disciplinary Orientation and Course Design of Vocabulary Teaching

This paper argues that the present vocabulary teaching needs reorienting so as to achieve a more systematic and principled vocabulary teaching suitable for China＇s non-English majors. The author then tries to propose a new model of vocabulary teaching, which consists of explicit instruction, incidental learning and strategy training.
