The resul...Based on the monitoring results of environmental quality of the waters near the Feiyun River estuary during 2011-2016, the current situation of environmental quality of the waters was analyzed and evaluated. The results showed that pH, DO, COD Mn , petroleum, and heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Hg, As and Cr) in the waters near the Feiyun River estuary did not exceed the second-class standard of Seawater Quality Standard (GB 3097-1997), while both inorganic nitrogen and reactive phosphate in the waters exceeded the second-class standard obviously. The water quality of the waters near the Feiyun River estuary was in an eutrophic state. In terms of sediment quality, the standard index of most evaluation factors except for Cu was smaller than 1, meeting the demands of sediment quality for environmental protection.展开更多

Proverbs can actually be viewed as succinct sayings that convey semantically-laden units expressing a people's worldview. In this paper, an attempt is made to illustrate the effectiveness of using culture-specific units like French proverbs to teach challenging grammatical features to English-speaking students in a French class. For example, grammatical aspects like verb conjugation French syntax, etc., can be effectively tackled. Translational techniques could then serve as pedagogical tools to bring about a better grasp of the foreign language being acquired, and in the process, exposure to a larger world culture would be achieved展开更多
Classification of multi-dimension time series(MTS) plays an important role in knowledge discovery of time series. Many methods for MTS classification have been presented. However, most of these methods did not conside...Classification of multi-dimension time series(MTS) plays an important role in knowledge discovery of time series. Many methods for MTS classification have been presented. However, most of these methods did not consider the kind of MTS whose discriminative subsequence was not restricted to one dimension and dynamic. In order to solve the above problem, a method to extract new features with extended shapelet transformation is proposed in this study. First, key features is extracted to replace k shapelets to calculate distance, which are extracted from candidate shapelets with one class for all dimensions. Second, feature of similarity numbers as a new feature is proposed to enhance the reliability of classification. Third, because of the time-consuming searching and clustering of shapelets, distance matrix is used to reduce the computing complexity. Experiments are carried out on public dataset and the results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Moreover, anode current signals(ACS) in the aluminum reduction cell are the aforementioned MTS, and the proposed method is successfully applied to the classification of ACS.展开更多
The beach studied in this paper spans a length of 51 km and is one of several long sandy beaches in the southern Bohai Strait. Due to the obstruction of islands in the northeast and the influence of the underwater top...The beach studied in this paper spans a length of 51 km and is one of several long sandy beaches in the southern Bohai Strait. Due to the obstruction of islands in the northeast and the influence of the underwater topography, the wave environment in the offshore area is complex; beach types and sediment transport characteristics vary along different coasts. The coastlines extracted from six aerial photographs in different years were compared to demonstrate the evolving features. Seven typical beach profiles were selected to study the lateral beach variation characteristics. Continuous wind and wave observation data from Beihuangcheng ocean station during 2009 were employed for the hindcast of the local wave environment using a regional spectral wave model. Then the results of the wave hindcast were incorporated into the LITDRIFT model to compute the sediment transport rates and directions along the coasts and analyze the longshore sand movement. The results show that the coastline evolution of sand beaches in the southern Bohai Strait has spatial and temporal variations and the coast can be divided into four typical regions. Region (1), the north coast of Qimudao, is a slightly eroded and dissipative beach with a large sediment transport rate; Region (II), the southwest coast of Gangluan Port, is a slightly deposited and dissipative beach with moderate sediment transport rate; Region (III), in the central area, is a beach that is gradually transformed from a slightly eroded dissipative beach to a moderately or slightly strong eroded bar-trough beach from west to east with a relatively moderate sediment transport rate. Region (IV), on the east coast, is a strongly eroded and reflective beach with a weak sediment transport rate. The wave conditions exhibit an increasing trend from west to east in the off- shore area. The distribution of the wave-induced current inside the wave breaking region and the littoral sediment transport in the nearshore region exhibit a gradual weakening tendency from west to east, which is opposite to the trend of the wave conditions out- side the breaking region. The presence of submerged shoal (Dengzhou Shoal), deep trough (Dengzhou Channel), islands and irregu- lar topography influnces the wave climate, beach types, wave-induced current features, littoral sediment transport trends and coast- line evolution patterns in the southern Bohai Strait. Human activities, such as the sand exploitation of Dengzhou Shoal and other coastal engineering projects, also influence the beach morphology and coastline evolution.展开更多

Detection of insulator arcing faults is based on feature extraction and frequency component analysis. The proposed methodology pertains to the identification of various stages of insulator arcing faults in transmission lines network based on leakage current, frequency characteristics and synchronous phasor measurements of voltage. The methodology is evaluated for IEEE 14 standard bus system by modeling the PMU and insulator arc faults using MATLAB/Simulink. The classification of insulator arcs is done using Support Vector Machine (SVM) technique to avoid empirical risk. The proposed methodology using phasor angle measurements employing PMU is used for fault detection/classification of insulator arcing which further helps in efficient protection of the system and its stable operation. In addition, the methodology is suitable for wide area condition monitoring of smart grid rather than end to end transmission lines.展开更多

The AGCs agre...A set of absolute geostrophic current(AGC) data for the period January 2004 to December 2012 are calculated using the P-vector method based on monthly gridded Argo profi les in the world tropical oceans. The AGCs agree well with altimeter geostrophic currents, Ocean Surface Current Analysis-Real time currents, and moored current-meter measurements at 10-m depth, based on which the classical Sverdrup circulation theory is evaluated. Calculations have shown that errors of wind stress calculation, AGC transport, and depth ranges of vertical integration cannot explain non-Sverdrup transport, which is mainly in the subtropical western ocean basins and equatorial currents near the Equator in each ocean basin(except the North Indian Ocean, where the circulation is dominated by monsoons). The identifi ed nonSverdrup transport is thereby robust and attributed to the joint effect of baroclinicity and relief of the bottom(JEBAR) and mesoscale eddy nonlinearity.展开更多

This work proposes the use of 2 D scan images generated by using pulsed eddy current(PEC) non-destructive testing(NDT) technique in the quantification of the inclination and depth of inclined cracks. The image-based feature extraction technique e ectively identifies the crack axis, which consequently enables extraction of features from the extracted linear scans. The technique extracts linear scans from the images to allow the extraction of three novel image-based features, namely the length of extracted linear scans(LLS), the linear scan skewness(LSS), and the highest value on linear scan(LSmax). The correlation of the three features to surface crack inclination angles and depths were analysed and found to be highly dependent on the crack depths, while only LLS and LSS are correlated to the crack inclination angles.展开更多

Applying the revised findings from the expression, the current gains before and after the test are compared and analyzed, and, according to the degradation data of the current gain, the transistor lifetimes in the test stress are respectively extrapolated in the different failure criteria.展开更多
Currently,numerical models based on idealized assumptions,complex algorithms and high computational costs are unsatisfactory for ocean surface current prediction.Moreover,the complex temporal and spatial variability o...Currently,numerical models based on idealized assumptions,complex algorithms and high computational costs are unsatisfactory for ocean surface current prediction.Moreover,the complex temporal and spatial variability of ocean currents also makes the prediction methods based on time series data challenging.The deep network model can automatically learn and extract complex features hidden in large amount of complex data,so it is a promising method for high quality prediction of ocean currents.In this paper,we propose a spatiotemporal coupled attention deep network model STCANet that can extract abundant temporal and spatial coupling information on the behavior characteristics of ocean currents for improving the prediction accuracy.Firstly,Spatial Module is designed and implemented to extract the spatiotemporal coupling characteristics of ocean currents,and meanwhile the spatial correlations and dependencies among adjacent sea areas are obtained through Spatial Channel Attention Module(SCAM).Secondly,we use the GatedRecurrent-Unit(GRU)to extract temporal relationships of ocean currents,and design and implement the nearest neighbor time attention module to extract the interdependences of ocean currents between adjacent times,which can further improve the accuracy of ocean current prediction.Finally,a series of comparative experiments on the MediSea_Dataset and EastSea_Dataset showed that the prediction quality of our model greatly outperforms those of other benchmark models such as History Average(HA),Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model(ARIMA),Long Short-term Memory(LSTM),Gate Recurrent Unit(GRU)and CNN_GRU.展开更多
