Low Doses of Ionized Radiation and Hypomagnetic Field Alter Redox Properties of Water and Physiological Characteristics of Seeds of the Highest Plants

The influence of a 40-fold attenuated geomagnetic field and its combined action with low doses of α- and γ-irradiation on the physiological characteristics of seeds of the highest plants and redox properties of water was investigated. It established the reduction of seed germination both under direct and indirect effects due to water action of attenuated geomagnetic field. A negative effect of hypomagnetic field on grown characteristics of seeds under indirect effect via water was decreased by the low doses of γ-irradiation, and was increased by low doses of α-irradiation, i.e. ionized radiation was the dominant factor in their combined action. It was revealed the increasing of the value of the oxidation-reduction potential of water under the influence of low-intensive α-ir-radiation (239Pu), γ-irradiation (137Cs) and also that the magnetic induction attenuated pointing to a natural decline. The increasing of the oxidation-reduction potential value testifies about “the regular decreasing of internal energy of water molecules” and the increasing of its oxidative properties, which, in our opinion, is caused the inhibition of the germination of seeds. It is supposed that namely water is the main component in the effects of studying factors on bio-objects, which acts due to the alterations of the properties and structural content of water.

DFT Investigation of the Hydrogen Adsorption on Graphene and Graphene Sheet Doped with Osmium and Tungsten

Significant interest has been focused on graphene materials for their unique properties as Hydrogen storage materials. The development of their abilities by modifying their configuration with doped or decorated transition metals was also of great interest. In this work, using the DFT/B3LYP/6-31G/LanL2DZ level of theory, graphene sheet (GS) as one of the materials of interest was doped with two transition metals, Osmium (Os) and Tungsten (W). Two active sites on the GS were tested (C4 and C16) resulted into adsorbed systems, H2@C4-GS and H2@C16-GS. C16 position showed the largest adsorption energy compared to that at C4. Therefore, C4 was replaced by the two metals and two adsorbed systems were formed: H2@Os-GS and H2@W-GS. The binding energy of H2@Os-GS was found to be greater than that of H2@W-GS.

On the best convergence order of a new class of triangular summation operators

In this paper, a new class of triangular summation operators based on the equidistant nodes was constructed. It is proved that this class of operators converges uniformly to arbitrary continuous fimctions with the period 2π on the whole axis, Fttrthermore, the best approximation order and the highest convergence order are obtained. In contrast to certain operators constructed by Bernstein and Kis in the previous works, the convergence properties of the new operator constructed in this paper are superior.

On Double Revised Nodes of S N Bernstein Interpolation Process of the Third Type

In this work, the well-known problem put forward by S N Bernstein in 1930 is studied in a deep step. An operator is constructed by revising double interpolation nodes. It is proved that the operator converges to arbitrary continuous functions uniformly and the convergence order is the best.

Approximation to Continuous Functions by a Kind of Interpolation Polynomials

In this paper, an interpolation polynomial operator F n(f; l,x) is constructed based on the zeros of a kind of Jacobi polynomials as the interpolation nodes. For any continuous function f(x)∈C b [-1,1] (0≤b≤l) F n(f; l,x) converges to f(x) uniformly, where l is an odd number.

The international impact of Chinese academic journals revealed by the “Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals”

CNKI has published the ＂Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals＂ since 2012. In the past three years, it has provided comprehensive data on the international impact of Chinese academic journals. Using the clout index （CI） to rank the Chinese academic journals, ＂the Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ and ＂ the Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ are announced every year. By introducing the rating criteria of the ＂Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals＂, the characteristics of high impact journals are discussed. Especially, the status of the pharmaceutical journals is discussed. We found that there are increasing numbers of Chinese journals that are included in the SCI, and some of them are high impact journals. However, journals published in Chinese are still facing difficulties to be included in SCI, even though they show higher impact than journals published in other non-English languages. The Chinese Pharmaceutical journals need to enhance their international impact, but Journals on Chinese Medicine show high impact.
