By using Xuan Tian Shangdi＇s （Hian Thian Siang Tee 玄天上帝） birthday Festival in Hok Lay Kiong Temple, Bekasi West Java and Xuan Tian Shangdi Temple in Welahan, Jepara Central Java as unit analysis. The author will describe the variations in Chinese Indonesian tradition. The festival is on the 3rd day of the third month of Chinese lunar year. Xuan Tian Shangdi＇s birthday festival shows the similarities and differences in variations of tradition. The festival of god＇s birthday is also a temple festival involving various groups which are aimed to integrate. This research is qualitative research conducted by field research. Data collection methods are interview, observations, and participant observations to gain an understanding of Chinese belief.展开更多

Since reform and opening up, in particular, China has planned for and organized development-oriented poverty reduction practices on a broad scale with remarkable achievements and blazed a new path of development-oriented poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics. This path is both an essential component of Chinese socialism and a result of the CPC’s ideological improvement on poverty reduction. Since the 18 th CPC National Congress in 2012, the whole Party, country, and society have been called upon to fight the battle against poverty on a full-scale under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on poverty reduction, unveiling a new stage for China’s development-oriented poverty reduction in the new era. China’s unprecedented poverty reduction achievements have enriched the path of poverty reduction with Chinese characteristics. Xi Jinping’s insightful and coherent statements on poverty reduction represent the latest results of Marxist anti-poverty theories and comprise an essential part of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era. Schoolers’ responses were collected through a “close...The present research studies the knowledge of 221 Ioannina’s city, located in the northwestern region of Greece, high school students on 10 environmental issues. Schoolers’ responses were collected through a “closed response” questionnaire distributed at three of the city’s Public High Schools. The overall picture appeared to be moderately satisfactory, as high schoolers possess a good knowledge on several environmental issues, while misconceptions on other issues, such as sustainable development, predominate. Taking into account the outcome of the present study we consider that improvements are needed in the existing Environmental Education Program in order to ameliorate their knowledge.展开更多

The Christian gospel makes the ~ansition from the former to the latter state possible. The seven deadly sins--pride, envy, anger, sloth, avarice, gluttony, and lust--are disordered loves; the seven cardinal virtues--faith, hope, love, courage, justice, temperance, and prudence--are reordered loves. Since love is central in human experience---rooted in the heart--it is also central in moral formation and deformation. Love （or the lack thereof） is the key to understanding the nature and action of both human vice and virtue.展开更多
