The Bluest Eye is Toni Morrison’s maiden work,through which Morrison carried out independent thinking on the question of“What is beauty?”In The Bluest Eye,the image of mixed-blood is characterized as a self-satisfi...The Bluest Eye is Toni Morrison’s maiden work,through which Morrison carried out independent thinking on the question of“What is beauty?”In The Bluest Eye,the image of mixed-blood is characterized as a self-satisfied beautiful girl or lady due to light skin color.However,Morrison shatters their proud aesthetic edifice through satirical techniques.Firstly,this paper starts with the analysis of Shirley Temple on the blue-and-white cup and Mary Jane on candy wrapper as culture goods,in order to reveal the aesthetic standards of the mainstream.Next,through close reading,this paper,taking the example of a high-yellow child Maureen Peal,and the graceful sugar-brown lady Geraldine,makes deep analysis on their sense of superiority and artistic characteristics,and aims to better understand Morrison’s satirical techniques and interpretation of beauty.展开更多

In our experiment, a triple-peak image is effectively transferred trom a coupling beam to a signal ...We focus on the study of the transferred image property in an electromagnetically induced transparency （EIT）system. In our experiment, a triple-peak image is effectively transferred trom a coupling beam to a signal beam based on the FIT effect. It is found that the transferred image intensity profile of the signal beam is the same as that of the coupling beam while not in phase. Furthermore, the propagation property of the transferred image is studied. Due to the narrowing effect, the transferred image keeps narrowing and maintains the shape well within a certain distance outside of the medium. Our experimental results are in excellent agreement with the theoretical analysis.展开更多

Some loan words from China have undermined the image of Chinese people. This paper, by taking"tuhao","dama"and"guanxi"for examples, analyzes the impact of these new loan words in English on the image of Chinese people. The result shows these words have negative influence on the image of Chinese people. Therefore, countermeasures should be taken to strengthen the spread of China's positive image.展开更多

Doris Lessing’s To Room Nineteen portrays a female character,Susan,who was controlled under the influence of patriarchal society and never gave up pursuing self-realization.The plot’s main clues are continuously fin...Doris Lessing’s To Room Nineteen portrays a female character,Susan,who was controlled under the influence of patriarchal society and never gave up pursuing self-realization.The plot’s main clues are continuously finding a new room.In the short story,there are many images related to room or house.Such as a new flat in South Kensington,a house with a big garden in Richmond and Susan’s destination room 19.Through pursuing a personal space,Susan is seeking a sense of safety,a sense of presence and a sense of identity.It is a way of illusory redemption.Based on Elaine Showalter’s feminist criticism and Freud psychoanalysis,this paper focuses on analyzing Susan’s psychological condition and the awakening of female consciousness according to the image of room.展开更多
The fractal image encoding method has received much attention for its many advantages over other methods, such as high decoding quality at high compression ratios. However, because every range block must be compared t...The fractal image encoding method has received much attention for its many advantages over other methods, such as high decoding quality at high compression ratios. However, because every range block must be compared to all domain blocks in the codebook to find the best-matched one during the coding procedure, baseline fractal coding （BFC） is quite time consuming. To speed up fractal coding, a new fast fractal encoding algorithm is proposed. This algorithm aims at reducing the size of the search window during the domain-range matching process to minimize the computational cost. A new theorem presented in this paper shows that a special feature of the image can be used to do this work. Based on this theorem, the most inappropriate domain blocks, whose features are not similar to that of the given range block, are excluded before matching. Thus, the best-matched block can be captured much more quickly than in the BFC approach. The experimental results show that the runtime of the proposed method is reduced greatly com- pared to the BFC method. At the same time, the new algorithm also achieves high reconstructed image quality. In addition, the method can be incorporated with other fast algorithms to achieve better performance Therefore, the proposed algorithm has a much better application potential than BFC.展开更多
