Preoperative cytologic brushing and biopsy under direct Vision withfiberoptic colonoscopy(FC)and postoperative histopathologic examination wereperformed in 147 patients who were suspected of suffering from carcinoma o...Preoperative cytologic brushing and biopsy under direct Vision withfiberoptic colonoscopy(FC)and postoperative histopathologic examination wereperformed in 147 patients who were suspected of suffering from carcinoma of co-lon.In FC cytologic brushing,128 cases were positive for malignancy(87.1percent),18 false-negative(12.2 percent)and only one false-positive(0.7 percent).In the 146 FC biopsy specimens,124 were positive for malignancy(84 4 percent)and 22 false-negative and no false-positive.Combination of FC cytologic brushingwith FC biopsy could raise the diagnostic rate of colonic carcinoma to 95.2% anddecrease false-negative and false-positive because the two methods may replenisheach other in sampling and observation.Cytologic brushing is most valuable tothe early diagnosis of colonic carcinoma.When colonic stricture and obstructionprevent the colonoscope from reaching the lesion and FC biopsy cannot bedone,FC cytologic brushing is an effective method for diagnosis.The positiverate and false-negative rate of the cytologic brushing did not correlate to grosstyping,histopathologic typing and Dukes staging(P】0.05).The factorsinfluencing the correct diagnosis of colonic carcinoma by FC cytologic brushingare discussed in this paper.展开更多

Lysine dendrimers and polymer brushes are used for drug and other (e.g., DNA, peptides, and polysaccharides) molecules delivery to different target cells. It is known that they could penetrate blood brain barrier. Since short lysine brush is nontoxic, a system containing of such brush and 8 oppositely charged Semax peptides was studied. It was obtained that stable complexes consisting of brush and peptides formed and structures of these complexes were investigated. Such complex can be used in future for delivery of Semax peptides to brain since these peptides have significant antioxidant, antihypoxic and neuroprotective effects.展开更多

In particular,it focus...The goal of this study was to develop and design a composite proton exchange membrane(PEM) and membrane electrode assembly(MEA) that are suitable for the PEM based water electrolysis system. In particular,it focuses on the development of sulphonated polyether ether ketone(SPEEK) based membranes and caesium salt of silico-tungstic acid(Cs Si WA) matrix compared with one of the transition metal oxides such as titanium dioxide(TiO2), silicon dioxide(SiO2) and zirconium dioxide(ZrO2). The resultant membranes have been characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, ion exchange capacity(IEC), water uptake and atomic force microscopy. Comparative studies on the performance of MEAs were also conducted utilizing impregnation-reduction and conventional brush coating methods. The PEM electrolysis performance of SPEEK-Cs Si WA-ZrO2 composite membrane was more superior than that of other membranes involved in this study. Electrochemical characterization shows that a maximum current density of 1.4 A/cm^2 was achieved at 60 °C, explained by an increased concentration of protonic sites available at the interface.展开更多
The numerical model for predicting the flow and temperature fields of the melt in holding furnace with porous brick purging system were set up using Euler-Lagrange approach.In this model,bubbles coalescence and disint...The numerical model for predicting the flow and temperature fields of the melt in holding furnace with porous brick purging system were set up using Euler-Lagrange approach.In this model,bubbles coalescence and disintegration were ignored based on the dimensionless analysis,and the bubble size was assumed to be obedient to Rosin-Rammler distribution with a mean size of 0.6 mm.The results show that on reference operating condition,during the heating and agitation process,melt mixes well in the furnace,and the melt velocity increases with the increase of gas flux.Holding the melt for 30 min causes the max temperature in the bulk melt to increase to 60 K.After holding the heat,the agitation processing restarts,and it takes 10 min for the stratified melt to retrieve the homogeneous temperature field when the gas flux is 10 L/min,which shows deficient alloying and degassing in the melt.With the increase of gas flux from 10 to 20,30 and 40 L/min,the necessary recovery time decreases from 10 to 6,5 and 4 min gradually,which shows the improvement of the stirring efficiency.Depending on the processing purposes,for both good degassing performance and gas saving,proper operating strategy and parameters (gas flux,primarily) could be adjusted.展开更多

One of the computer programs calculates the distortion of weekly nonlinear THA based on the KCL and the nonlinear-current method. The other calculates the weekly nonlinear distortion by using a Volterra series method and a nodal formulation. Comparative calculation results for the diode bridge THA have shown good agreement with these two computer program calculation methods, whereas the overall computational efficiency of the nonlinear-current method is better than that of the nodal formulation method in a special evaluation.展开更多

Therefore, oral health education in the early stage of pregnancy should prevent periodontal disease and decrease the risk of a...The prevalence of periodontal disease among pregnant women increases with gestational age. Therefore, oral health education in the early stage of pregnancy should prevent periodontal disease and decrease the risk of an adverse pregnancy outcome such as preterm delivery and low birth weight. However, there has been no study on oral health care intervention for prevention of periodontal disease during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to examine the efficiency of an oral health education program on periodontal disease among Japanese low-risk pregnant women. A total of 207 pregnant women before 20 weeks of gestation were recruited. The first 131 of them were assigned to the control group and the remaining 76 to the experimental group. The experiment participants received an oral health education program including the toothpick brushing method in their early stage of pregnancy. Improvement of the self-assessment score of periodontal symptoms was used as a binary outcome variable. A logistic regression analysis indicated that the intervention (OR = 3.83) and proficiency of the toothpick brushing method (OR = 24.93) were statistically significant predictors of the outcome in the late stage of pregnancy. The positive outcome appeared after practice of the toothpick method brushing for 20 or more weeks, and was associated with the decrease in the log-transformed proportion of the count of Candida species in salivary microbiota (p = 0.026).展开更多
To examine the environmental characteristics of the microgravity force and the weathered layer on an asteroid surface,a symmetric wheel brush asteroid sampler is proposed for the collection of particles on the asteroi...To examine the environmental characteristics of the microgravity force and the weathered layer on an asteroid surface,a symmetric wheel brush asteroid sampler is proposed for the collection of particles on the asteroid surface.To study the influence of the wheel brush rotation speed on the sampling efficiency and the driving torque required for the wheel brush,the contact dynamics model between particles and sampling wheel brushes is established and a simulation and experimental verification of the sampling process are conducted.The parameter calibration of the sampled particles is studied first,and the calibrated particle parameters are used in the numerical simulation of the sampling process.The sampling results and the particle stream curves are obtained for the working conditions of different rotation speeds,and the effects of different parameter settings on the sampling efficiency are analyzed.In addition,a set of rotating symmetrical sampling wheel brush devices is built for the ground test,and the dynamic torque sensor is used to test the torque change of the wheel brush during the sampling process.The relationship between the speed of the wheel brush and the driving torque of the wheel brush motor is determined by comparing the simulation results with the test results.Results indicate that when the rotating speed of the wheel brush is faster,the sampling efficiency is higher,and the driving torque required for the sampling wheel brush is greater.Moreover,a numerical simulation analysis of the sampling process of the wheel brush sampler in a microgravity environment is conducted to determine the optimal speed condition,and the brushing test of the wheel brush sampler in the microgravity environment is verified with the drop tower method.This research proposes the structural optimization design and motor selection of a wheel brush asteroid sampler,which provides important reference value and engineering significance.展开更多
