Addition of Ca(NO3)2 decreased soil pH and increased both exchangeable and DTPA (diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid)-extractable Mn and Fe in soils. Meanwhile, total Mn accumulation in the shoots of Capsicum frutescens L. on the salt-treated soils increased significantly (P < 0.01) compared with the control, suggesting that salt addition to soil induced Mn toxicity in Capsicum frutescens L. Although exchangeable and DTPA-extractable Fe increased also in the salt-treated soils, Fe uptake by the shoots of Capsicum frutescens L. decreased. The effect of added salts in soils on dry matter weight of pepper varied with the soil characteristics, showing different buffer capacities of the soils for salt toxicity in an order of yellow-brown soil > albic soil > yellow-red soil. Fe/Mn ratio in shoots of Capsicum frutescens L. decreased with increasing salt addition for all the soils, which was ascribed to the antagonistic effect of Mn on Fe accumulation. The ratio of Fe/Mn in the tissue was a better indicator of the appearance of Mn toxicity symptoms than Mn concentration alone.展开更多

Magnetic particles (Fe3O4) were deposited on the SiO2 surface by varying the molar ratio of [Fe2+]/[Fe3+] and the molar concentration of iron salts. The obtained magnetic hollow silica spheres exhibited a super-paramagnetic behavior at room temperature. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray powder scattering (XRD) were applied to characterize the MHSS. Besides, their unit cell parameters are calculated according to results indexing to XRD, the MHSS sample prepared at 0.10 M iron salts and 2:1 molar ratio of [Fe2+]/[Fe3+] has a largest cell angle (β) of unit cell. Due to large hollow cavity space and super-paramagnetic characteristics, the inner amino-functionalized MHSS could be labeled with radioisotope 99Tcm to study the MHSS’s magnetic targeting distribution in vivo. These results indicate that the MHSS has potential in the magnetic targeted drug delivery system which reduces the damage to normal cells and improves the therapeutic effect of cancer.展开更多

All of the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, Raman spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography for 1 and 2. All of them were non-hygroscopic and air-stable, with four of them existing as solids (1-4) and two as liquids (5 and 6) at room temperature. A preliminary catalytic study on the coupling of 4-tolylmagnesium bromide with cyclohexyl bromide revealed that 1 and 3 possessed the highest activity. In comparison, 2, 4 and 5 exhibited moderate activity and the least active complex was 6.展开更多
