For English education primary school,English vocabulary teaching should be attach importance to because in the traditional class of English vocabulary teaching,teachers just fill young minds with knowledge points of each word in a 35-minute class yet fail to lay emphasis of learners’meaningful learning and autonomic learning as well as their very limited attention spans.To support traditional English vocabulary teaching classes,the research proposes the theme-based English vocabulary micro-lectures designed on the basis of experiential learning theory and constructivist learning theory as well as the analyses of target users of high-level students in the primary school.After application of the micro-lectures into practice,the research assesses the effect of the micro-lectures on the learners and then makes suggestions for design principles of theme-based vocabulary micro-lectures about selection of contents and vocabulary themes,supplementary teaching activities and teacher interaction in the micro-lectures for high-level students in the primary school.Also,the designers should make multi-level English vocabulary micro-lectures according to learners’English proficiency and increase repetition rates of vocabularies in the micro-lectures. 展开更多

The purpose of this study was t... The 300-yard shuttle run is a field test commonly used to assess anaerobic capacity. There is limited documentation regarding the reliability of the shuttle run for various populations. The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability of the 300-yard shuttle run in High School girls basketball players. Thirty nine High School girls basketball players performed two separate sessions of the 300-yard shuttle run. During each session, the participants completed two trials of the 300-yard shuttle run separated by a 5-minute rest period. The trial 1 and 2 scores were 66.2 - 4.9 and 69.1 - 6.0 seconds, respectively. The interclass and intraclass reliability coefficients were r = 0.84 and ICC = 0.83. The standard error of the measure was SEm = 2.2 seconds with 90% confidence limits Of UL: 2.6, LL: 1.9. The typical error expressed as a coefficient of variation percent was CV% = 3.2 with 90% confidence limits Of UL: 3.7, LL: 2.8. Within the parameters of this study, the 300-yard shuttle run is a sufficiently reliable field test for measuring anaerobic capacity. 展开更多

After the era of globalization, religious diversity increases in most of the countries all over the world. Therefore, the main goal of this article is to discuss the necessity of teaching pupils about the different religions at schools in order for increasing their religious awareness about their own religion as well as improving their sensitivity towards other religions. Hence, such awareness and sensitivity may contribute to open the channels of dialogue among the new generations and prevent more violence from happening, as a result. In doing so, it will display the level of religious diversity around the world and the number of expected religious groups by 2050 as found by Pew Research Center (2015). It will also briefly review the Islamic principles that are related to dealing with other religious groups. Moreover, it will present possible ways of how multiple religions can be taught in schools in order to transform pupils from religiocentric phases to religiorelative stages. 展开更多

This paper deals with the post-occupancy performance evaluation of the SFL (School of Foreign Languages) that was designed by the authors and is located within the YTU (Yildiz Technical University) Davutpaa campus in Istanbul. After the completion and occupation of the building, project review came into question and a POE was performed. Post-occupancy performance evaluation tries to answer the questions of space provision for social interaction: "How is this building working?" "Is it intended?" "How can it be improved?" and "How can future buildings be improved?" Answers to these vital questions are searched under four main sections. In the first section, the study discusses the physical location and functional properties of the building, in the second, the design decisions of the building are discussed in the context of and design principles, in the third, the method of performance evaluation is explained, and in the final section, the results are analyzed and discussed. These results will lead to a path to improve the quality of the building. 展开更多
