Between the Heaven and Human Beings: On the Idea of the Heaven and the Transformation of Poetry in the Mid-Tang Dynasty

The relationship between the Heaven and human beings is a central issue in the transformation of Confucianism in the Mid-Tang Dynasty.The discourses on the Heaven by Han Yu,Liu Zongyuan,and Liu Yuxi helped to promote the transformation and greatly influenced the transformation in literature.The differences in the poetry among the three authors may also be interpreted from the perspective of their perceptions of the Heaven—Han Yu’s discourse on the Heaven focused on the enemy-relationship between the Heaven and human beings,so his poems always showed tension and loss.Liu Zongyuan was interested in the alienation between the heaven and human beings,so his poems were more rational and placid than Han Yu’s.However,Liu Yuxi’s discourse on the Heaven paid attention to the positive influence of the Heaven on human beings,and most of his poems were filled with reason.The changes in the relationship between the Heaven and human beings lead to the broadened themes,innovated vocabulary,diversified styles,and varied fresh imageries.Likewise,the relationship between the Heaven and human beings established in the Song Dynasty led accordingly to a new type of literature different from the Tang literature.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MUCINS AND CEA IN GLOBOID DYSPLASTIC CELLS OF HUMAN STOMACH AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH SIGNET RING CELL CARCINOMA

Fourty-three cases of globoid dysplasia and signet ring cell carcinoma were stained by mucin and CEA (ABC method). It was found that there were three kinds of mucins (neutral, sialo and sulphomucin in both globoid dysplastic cells and signet ring cells. The percentages of the three kinds of mucins seen in the two kinds of cells were not much different. It was indicated that the altered mucins in the gastric epithelial cells must be a sign of dedifferentiation of the cells and the results of malfunction. The globoid dysplasia type I mainly contained neutral mucin, whereas type II, the acid mucin was predominant, especially the sulphomucin. The CEA positive reaction became stronger as the atypia being remarkable, and the characteristics of distribution of CEA positive particles were similar in the two kinds of cells namely, randomly or disorderly in the cells. Based on the analysis of the results, a conclusion can be made that the variety of mucins in globoid dysplastic cells can be used as a reference point in classification and is not much significant in grading, but the amount of CEA positive matter can be a reference point in grading. The globoid dysplasia is such a lesion with special features in morphology and function manifested in the process of de-differentiation towards signet ring cell carcinoma following the successive action of carcinogens upon the cells of gastric epithelium.

Relationship of cyclic stretching of human patellar tendon fibroblasts with abnormal increase of prostaglandins E2 and leukotriene B4

To investigate the relationship between tendinopathy and higher production of prostaglandins E2 (PGE2) and leukotriene B4(LTB4) induced by cyclic stretching of human patellar tendon fibroblasts.Methods We used a novel in vitro model system to mimic in vivo conditions,where human patellar tendon fibroblasts (HPTFs) were uniaxially stretched with different magnitudes of stretching (4%,8% and 12%).Non-stretched fibroblasts were used as control.The productions of PGE2 and LTB4 as well as the expression of cycloxygenase (COX) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) were then measured every four hours of cyclic stretching.In addition,we treated the cells with inhibitors of COX or 5-LO.Results It was found that cyclic stretching of fibroblasts at 8% and 12% of stretching increased PGE2 and LTB4 levels.Blocking the COX enzyme with indomethacin (25 mol/L) decreased PGE2 levels but increased LTB4 production and vice versa.Whereas decreasing LTB4 production with MK-886 (10 μmol/L) could increase PGE2 levels compared to cells tretched without inhibitors.Conclusion Cyclic stretching of HPTFs produces high levels of PGE2 and LTB4,where a balance exists:blocking PGE2 production increases the production of LTB4,and vice versa.Therefore,this study raises the possibility that the routine use of COX inhibitors in clinical treatment of tendinopathy may exacerbate the condition by causing neutrophil-mediated inflammatory and degenerative changes in the tendon due to increased levels of LTB4,which is a potent chemoattractant for neutrophils.17 refs,3 figs.

Chalcone derivatives as novel,potent and selective inhibitors against human Notum:Structure–activity relationships and biological evaluations

Human Notum(hNotum)inhibitors could be used for treating Wnt signalling-associated diseases including colorectal cancer.Herein,two series of chalcone derivatives were designed and synthesized aiming to find selective and potent hNotum inhibitors.Structure–activity relationship(SAR)studies showed that 2-methoxyl and 5-bromine substitutions on A-ring significantly enhanced anti-hNotum effect,while 4’-ethoxyl and 3’-alkyl substitutions on B-ring were beneficial for hNotum inhibition.Among all tested chalcones,B11 displayed the most potent anti-Notum effect(IC_(50)=3.6 nmol/L),good selectivity,excellent chemical stability and suitable metabolic stability.Further investigations showed that B11 acted as a competitive inhibitor of hNotum,while this agent(5μmol/L)significantly weaken the migration abilities of colorectal cancer cells.Collectively,this study deciphers the SARs of chalcones as hNotum inhibitors and reports a novel and potent hNotum inhibitor with the anti-migration effect on colorectal cancer cells,which offers a promising lead compound to develop novel anti-cancer agents.

Investigation on the differences of four flavonoids with similar structure binding to human serum albumin

Flavonoids are structurally diverse and the most ubiquitous groups of polyphenols distributed in the various plants,which possess intensive biological activities.In this study,the interaction mechanisms between four flavonoids containing one glucose unit with similar molecular weight isolated from the Tibetan medicinal herb Pyrethrum tatsienense,namely.apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucoside（1）,luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucoside（2）.quercetin-7-O-β-D-glucoside（3）.quercetin-3-O-β-D-glycoside（4）.and human serum albumin（HSA）,were investigated by fluorescence.UV-vis absorbance,circular dichroism,and molecular modeling.The effects of biological metal ions Mg2＋,Zn2＋,and Cu2＋ on the binding affinity between flavonoids and HSA were further examined.Structure-activity relationships of four flavonoids binding to HSA were discussed in depth and some meaningful conclusions have been drawn by the experiment data and theoretical simulation.In addition,an interesting phenomenon was observed that the microenvironment of the binding site I in HSA has hardly changed in the presence of 4 differentiating from the other three flavonoids on the basis of conformation investigations.

Robot and its living space:A roadmap for robot development based on the view of living space

Robot’s living space Human-robot relationship Robot humanization Hybrid intelligence Human-robot integrated society Robots,as the creation of humans,became an irreplaceable component in human society.With the advancement of technologies,robots have become more and more intelligent and have been widely used in many fields,such as disease diagnosis,customer services,healthcare for the older people,and so on.As robots made our lives much more convenient than ever before,they also brought many potential risks and challenges in technology,security,and ethic.To better understand the development of robots,we proposed a concept of a robot’s living space and analyzed the role of robots in our society.In this paper,we focus on setting a theoretical framework of the robot’s living space to further understand the human-robot relationship.The research in this paper contains three central aspects.First,we interpret the concept of the robot’s living space and the functions of each space.Second,we analyze and summarize the relative technologies which support robots living well in each space.Finally,we provide advice and improvement measures based on a discussion of potential problems caused by the developments of robots.With the trend of robots humanization and human-robot society integration,we should seriously consider how to collaborate with intelligent robots to achieve hybrid intelligence.To build a harmonious human-robot integrated society,studying the robot’s living space and its relationship with humans is the prerequisite and roadmap.
