This study delves into the intricate dissemination and acceptance of Dongpo Culture,epitomized by Su Shi,in the UK and the US,aiming to bolster the global recognition of Chinese literary and cultural values and advance the national strategy of“Going Out”.Su Shi’s multifaceted contributions—spanning literature,philosophy,calligraphy,and art—serve as a pinnacle of Northern Song Dynasty culture.This research evaluates the varied translations,monographs,biographies,journal articles,and doctoral dissertations about Su Shi in these Western nations,using literature analysis,typical analysis,and comparative methods.The findings reveal a robust interest in Su Shi studies in the US,marked by a proliferation of scholarly works and translations across diverse disciplines,such as literature,art,and aesthetics,establishing the US as a leading center for Dongpo Culture studies.Conversely,the UK,despite its early engagement,shows limited scholarly outputs and significant research papers on the subject.By examining Dongpo Culture’s overseas communication path and influence paradigm,this paper seeks to enhance China’s cultural soft power and self-confidence.It underscores the vital role of international cultural exchange in constructing a positive image of China’s national identity,facilitating its peaceful rise,and providing strategic insights for the global promotion of Chinese culture. 展开更多

Culture has been exerting an even greater influence on China’s image construction and nation branding in today’s globalizing world.As“culture”is the core of Chinese soft power strategy,the concept of“soft power”has been redefined as“cultural soft power”in the Chinese context.Cultural instruments,including the Chinese language as well as traditional and popular cultures,are widely implemented as the“charm”tools to wield and project China’s soft power.Cultural diplomacy is also viewed as an effective way to promote an understanding of China’s ideals,support Chinese economic goals and enhance Chinese national security in subtle,wide-ranging,and sustainable ways.Although Chinese soft power is still in its“embryonic phase”,partly due to its close link to the country’s economic performance and huge market attraction as well as the disadvantages generated by the political and ideological issues,it has contributed greatly to expand China’s international influence and create a circle of like-minded allies on its periphery,in which process its increasing importance shall not be neglected. 展开更多

Ny , the famous professor of Harvard who puts forward the concept of soft power, says ,"only by widespread communication and diffusion can a country reinforces its soft power". This is mass media's function. Since the 1990s, tens of thousands cultural products brought in from America are exported to foreign countries, including popular music, films ,TV programs, magazines, books and so forth. By making advantage of its monopoly position in media circle, the United States pursues cultural hegemonism and expands its popular culture all over the world. This paper investigates to what extent and why the key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ programme, namely learning mobility of individuals, can be considered a soft power’s instrument on European neighbourhood countries. The core assumption is that due to people-to-people contact, Erasmus participants are most likely to become EU informal ambassadors, in the sense that they become carriers of EU soft power leading to changes in cultural and social perceptions. However, what will the place of Erasmus+ be in the ongoing debate on international cultural relations’ strategy? Erasmus+ can play a major role in this new strategy considering the huge growth of mobility flows between EU and ENP countries, since the new programme was launched. Moreover, EU institutions are looking for new strategic tools of public diplomacy. Have they realised that the external dimension of Erasmus+ lends itself to being one of these? Therefore, the topic of this work is of high interest because it is closely related to the debate about both the means and the ends of the EU external policy. For the sake of this research, three case studies, from different geographical regions neighbouring the EU, have been chosen: Tunisia, Ukraine, and Georgia. A comparison among these three countries will reveal under which conditions Erasmus+ can be considered a soft power’s instrument. Hence, the identification of conditions applicable to all EU partner countries in order to evaluate whether the EU can spread its soft power through Erasmus+, represents the paper’s added value which opens new avenues for further research on the topic. 展开更多

Nye views American culture values as an element of soft power and he thinks American companies play an important role in boosting the country's soft power. Advertisements have long been the main weapon for American companies to attract other countries' consumers and advertise American culture values and way of life. 后冷战时代,随着文化的价值功能被重新定位,文化软实力竞争日益成为大国之间进行国力竞争的重要内容。美国等西方大国的体育文化软实力战略不同程度地充当了对外政策的工具,其目的在于按西方价值偏好塑造“新的他者”,重建西方体育主导... 后冷战时代,随着文化的价值功能被重新定位,文化软实力竞争日益成为大国之间进行国力竞争的重要内容。美国等西方大国的体育文化软实力战略不同程度地充当了对外政策的工具,其目的在于按西方价值偏好塑造“新的他者”,重建西方体育主导地位;中国体育文化软实力建设则始终聚焦于自身发展,塑造“新的自我”,使中国以和平发展的崭新形象屹立于世界民族之林。之所以如此,根本原因在于,商业文明造就的西方体育文化作为世界体坛的一种强势文化,是西方现代性主流文化的衍生物,一定程度上带有“西方文明优越论”的文化偏见;而中国体育文化与生俱来地携带着中华文明天下观和美德伦理的先天基因,本质上是一种充满人文关怀、具有德性和包容性的柔性文化。在新的历史条件下,正确处理与西方体育文化的关系,建设中华民族现代体育文明,是中国体育文化软实力建设必须直面的时代课题。 展开更多

基于文化吸引力、文化展示力、文化传播力、文化创新力、文化事业投入力和文旅融合力6个维度构建文化软实力评价指标体系,运用空间分类、核密度分析、空间自相关等方法,分析中原城市群文化软实力的空间特征并解析其影响因素。结果表明:... 基于文化吸引力、文化展示力、文化传播力、文化创新力、文化事业投入力和文旅融合力6个维度构建文化软实力评价指标体系,运用空间分类、核密度分析、空间自相关等方法,分析中原城市群文化软实力的空间特征并解析其影响因素。结果表明:(1)从综合实力差异看,高、较高文化软实力城市数量少且主要分布在核心区,中等实力城市仅有3个,半数城市为低和较低实力。空间上具有明显的东西差异,西半壁呈现以郑汴为引领的中心外围格局,东半壁则表现为亳州、阜阳引领的极化特征,且在东西半壁之间形成聊城至驻马店的低值连绵带。(2)从分维度空间差异看,文化吸引力子系统、文化展示力子系统与综合实力格局类似,而文化事业投入力子系统呈现“西北高、东南低”的格局。此外,文化传播力子系统、文化创新力子系统呈现与前3个子系统完全不同的格局,表现为以郑汴为核心的低值包围高值的分布结构。(3)从空间集聚和关联看,中原城市群分别围绕郑州和亳州形成了“一主一副”的双核集聚态势,且主核区附近形成了显著的高-高集聚群。其中,文化吸引力子系统与综合实力的集聚格局基本一致,文化展示力子系统的集聚在郑州减弱而在亳州得到加强,文化传播力子系统和文化创新力子系统仅在中部形成集聚核心,文旅融合力子系统则在综合格局的基础上在东南部形成两个集聚核心。(4)从影响因素看,市区GDP对城市文化软实力的影响最强,第三产业增加值次之,交通设施、科教文卫单位数和城镇化率的影响作用不明显。 展开更多
