In this paper, Von Karman's set of nonlinear equations for rectangular plates with large deflection is divided into several sets of linear equations by perturbation method, the dimensionless center deflection being taken as a perturbation parameter. These sets of linear equations are solved by the spline finite-point (SFP) method and by the spline finite element (SFE) method. The solutions for rectangular plates having any length-to-width ratios under a uniformly distributed load and with various boundary conditions are presented, and the analytical formulas for displacements and deflections are given in the paper. The computer programs are worked out by ourselves. Comparison of the results with those in other papers indicates that the results of this paper are satisfactorily better. 展开更多

In this paper a group of stress functions has been proposed for the calculation of a crack emanating from a hole with different shape (including circular, elliptical, rectangular, or rhombic hole) by boundary collocation method. The calculation results show that they coincide very well with the existing solutions by other methods for a circular or elliptical hole with a crack in an infinite plate. At the smae time, a series of results for different holes in a finite plate has also been obtained in this paper. The proposed functions and calculation procedure can be used for a plate of a crack emanating from an arbitrary hole. 展开更多

The application of wavelets is explored to solve acoustic radiation and scattering problems. A new wavelet approach is presented for solving two-dimensional and axisymmetric acoustic problems. It is different from the... The application of wavelets is explored to solve acoustic radiation and scattering problems. A new wavelet approach is presented for solving two-dimensional and axisymmetric acoustic problems. It is different from the previous methods in which Galerkin formulation or wavelet matrix transform approach is used. The boundary quantities are expended in terms of a basis of the periodic, orthogonal wavelets on the interval. Using wavelet transform leads a highly sparse matrix system. It can avoid an additional integration in Galerkin formulation, which may be very computationally expensive. The techniques of the singular integrals in two-dimensional and axisymmetric wavelet formulation are proposed. The new method can solve the boundary value problems with Dirichlet, Neumann and mixed conditions and treat axisymmetric bodies with arbitrary boundary conditions. It can be suitable for the solution at large wave numbers. A series of numerical examples are given. The comparisons of the results from new approach with those from boundary element method and analytical solutions demonstrate that the new techique has a fast convergence and high accuracy. 展开更多

In this paper, we study the long time behavior of a class of Kirchhoff equations with high order strong dissipative terms. On the basis of the proper hypothesis of rigid term and nonlinear term of Kirchhoff equation, firstly, we evaluate the equation via prior estimate in the space <em>E</em><sub>0</sub> and <em>E<sub>k</sub></em>, and verify the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the equation by using Galerkin’s method. Then, we obtain the bounded absorptive set <em>B</em><sub><em>0k</em> </sub>on the basis of the prior estimate. Moreover, by using the Rellich-Kondrachov Compact Embedding theorem, we prove that the solution semigroup <em>S</em>(<em>t</em>) of the equation has the family of the global attractor <em>A<sub>k</sub></em><sub> </sub>in space <em>E<sub>k</sub></em>. Finally, we prove that the solution semigroup <em>S</em>(<em>t</em>) is Frechet differentiable on <em>E<sub>k</sub></em> via linearizing the equation. Furthermore, we can obtain the finite Hausdorff dimension and Fractal dimension of the family of the global attractor <em>A<sub>k</sub></em>. 展开更多

Some basic problems on the level set methods were discussed, such as the method used to preserve the distance junction , the existence and uniqueness of solution for the level set equations. The main contribution is to prove that in a neighborhood of the initial zero level set, the level set equations with the restriction of the distance function have a unique solution, which must be the signed distance function with respect to the evolving surface. Some skillful approaches were used: Noticing that any solution for the original equation was a distance function, the original level set equations were transformed into a simpler alternative form. Moreover, since the new system was not a classical one, the system was transformed into an ordinary one, for which the implicit function method was adopted. 展开更多

By an eigenvalue decomposition of P, the constrained problem can be equivalently transformed to a well-known unconstrained problem of matrix equation whose coefficient matrices contain the corresponding eigenvector, and hence the constrained problem can be solved in terms of the eigenvectors of P. A simple and eigenvector-free formula of the general solutions to the constrained problem by generalized inverses of the coefficient matrices A and B is presented.
