In 2012, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) practitioners in Australia became nationally-registered allied health professionals in three categories: acupuncturist, Chinese herbal medicine practitioner, and Chinese herbal medicine dispenser. Australia was the first Western country to introduce national registration for Chinese medicine, followed by Portugal and, recently, New Zealand. The practice of TCM in Australia can be traced back to the beginning of Chinese immigration to Australia during the Victorian Gold Rush which began in the 1850s. The process which led to national registration commenced in the early 1970s with the establishment of the first acupuncture courses. Decades of gradual development of courses from unaccredited part-time diplomas to accredited bachelor degrees, and the development, by the profession, of national consensus on educational standards were essential elements in the process which led to registration. Professional associations, such as the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association Ltd.(AACMA), also developed a framework of professional selfregulation, including Codes of Ethics, Codes of Conduct, ongoing professional development requirements and Infection Control Guidelines, and provided leadership in the development of the profession. After decades of tribalism and division within the TCM profession, the National Academic Standards Committee brought almost all stakeholders together to reach a consensus on the Australian Guidelines for Traditional Chinese Medicine Education which were published by AACMA in 2001. Professional associations also collaborated on joint submissions to the government in support of registration, which was introduced first in the state of Victoria in 2000, and subsequently became national in 2012. Despite national registration, some barriers still remain, and professional associations continue to lobby the federal government for inclusion in Medicare, chronic disease management scheme, and Veterans Affairs. 展开更多

Climate warming profoundly affects hydrological changes, agricultural production, and human society.Arid and semi-arid areas of China are currently displaying a marked trend of warming and wetting. The Chinese Tianshan Mountains(CTM)have a high climate sensitivity, rendering the region particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate warming. In this study,we used monthly average temperature and monthly precipitation data from the CN05.1 gridded dataset(1961-2014)and 24 global climate models(GCMs)of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)to assess the applicability of the CMIP6 GCMs in the CTM at the regional scale.Based on this,we conducted a systematic review of the interannual trends,dry-wet transitions(based on the standardized precipitation index(SPI)),and spatial distribution patterns of climate change in the CTM during 1961-2014.We further projected future temperature and precipitation changes over three terms(near-term(2021-2040),mid-term(2041-2060),and long-term(2081-2100))relative to the historical period(1961-2014)under four shared socio-economic pathway(SSP)scenarios(i.e.,SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP3-7.0,and SSP5-8.5).It was found that the CTM had experienced significant warming and wetting from 1961 to 2014,and will also experience warming in the future(2021-2100).Substantial warming in 1997 was captured by both the CN05.1 derived from interpolating meteorological station data and the multi-model ensemble(MME)from the CMIP6 GCMs.The MME simulation results indicated an apparent wetting in 2008,which occurred later than the wetting observed from the CN05.1 in 1989.The GCMs generally underestimated spring temperature and overestimated both winter temperature and spring precipitation in the CTM.Warming and wetting are more rapid in the northern part of the CTM.By the end of the 21st century, all the four SSP scenarios project warmer and wetter conditions in the CTM with multiple dry-wet transitions. However, the rise in precipitation fails to counterbalance the drought induced by escalating temperature in the future,so the nature of the drought in the CTM will not change at all.Additionally, the projected summer precipitation shows negative correlation with the radiative forcing. This study holds practical implications for the awareness of climate change and subsequent research in the CTM. 展开更多

Modernization,as a specific stage in the historical development of human society, possesses a multi-layered composite structure, with each layer playing both a promoting and inhibiting role in human development and dignity simultaneously.Chinese modernization is a strategic choice made based on lessons learned from various experiences of modernization processes in other countries, reflecting judgments on the benefits and choices on the values of human development and dignity in modernization. It values the promotion of the free and well-rounded development of all individuals as its standard, demanding the full realization of the positive effects of modernization on human development and the overcoming of its negative effects.Human rights, aiming to promote the free and well-rounded development of every person as the ultimate value goal, are not only an intrinsic structural element of the modernization stage but also a social normative tool that restrains the direction of modernization development, aligning closely with the values pursued by Chinese modernization.Chinese modernization poses dual requirements for human rights protection:on the one hand,it demands the affirmation and promotion of the positive effects of modernization on human development and dignity through human rights standards, and on the other hand,it requires the prevention and mitigation of the negative effects of modernization on human development and dignity through human rights standards. There exists a certain tension between these two dimensions, necessitating an appropriate balance and thereby presenting corresponding requirements for China’s approach to human rights protection. 展开更多

An effective quality control system is the key to ensuring the quality, safety and efficacy of traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs). However, the current quality standard research lacks top-level design and systematic design, mostly based on specific technologies or evaluation methods. To resolve the challenges and questions of quality control of TCMs, a brand-new quality standard system, named "iVarious", was proposed. The system comprises eight elements in a modular format. Meaning of every element was specifically illustrated via corresponding research instances. Furthermore, frankincense study was taken as an example for demonstrating standards and research process, based on the "i Various" system. This system highlighted a holistic strategy for effectiveness, security, integrity and systematization of quality and safety control standards of TCMs. The establishment of"i Various" integrates multi-disciplinary technologies and progressive methods, basis elements and key points of standard construction. The system provides a novel idea and technological demonstration for regulation establishment of TCMs quality standards. 展开更多

Chinese Education Philosophy of "Truth, Kindness, and Aesthetics Combination" manifests in the research on Chinese education from aesthetics perspective. It aims at the "narrow and limited view" of "not the general aesthetics, but the artistic beauty only", and it aims at biased opinion of "the interest saying", "the fine arts saying", "the esthetic sense saying" on aesthetics. It also aims at serious distraction of "LEFT in form but RIGHT in essence" of the mainstream ideology "the thought", "the revolution", "politics" and so on. It is a complex study of Chinese education from the philosophy of the unity of Truth, Kindness, and Aesthetics of oriental aesthetics, the consensus of Truth, Kindness, and Aesthetics of Western aesthetics, and the identity of Truth, Kindness, and Aesthetics of Marx aesthetics. From aesthetics perspective, it studies Chinese education, "combing" the reversed relationships among "truth", "kindness" and "aesthetics" in Chinese, adopting the methods of "research with great ease", "cases study", and "combination of ration and perception", to achieve "truth" of in Chinese, "kindness" of and "aesthetics" of , promote the development of "Chinese intellectual education", "Chinese moral education", and "Chinese aesthetic education" harmoniously, to realize the "Truth, Kindness, and Aesthetics Combination" of Chinese education and to reach the brand-new boundary territory of "human development and integrity construction" effectively. 展开更多

The aesthetics of Chinese costume is the crystallization of traditional Chinese artistry and at the same time is not without dregs, such as the suppression of its subjectivity, restraint of human body and segregation of different social classes. In contemporary China, Chinese costume keeps changing with the aesthetic needs of the time. Under such circumstances, filtration, screening and sublation have become the basic methods to inherit and carry forward the essence of traditional Chinese costume. It is contemporary Chinese people's due responsibility to demonstrate the spirit of Chinese aesthetics via dressing, take the initiative to spread such a spirit, and showcase the unique charm of Chinese aesthetics by the light of nature. 展开更多

The question of how Chinese calligraphy artworks convey emotion has cast its spell over people for millennia. Calligraphers' joys and sorrows were expressed in the complexity of the character strokes, style variations and general layouts. Determining how Chinese calligraphy aesthetic patterns emerged from the general layout of artworks is a challenging objective for researchers. Here we investigate the statistical fluctuation structure of Chinese calligraphy characters sizes using characters obtained from the calligraphy artwork "Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion" which was praised as the best running script under heaven. We found that the character size distribution is a stretched exponential distribution. Moreover, the variations in the local correlation features in character size fluctuations can accurately reflect expressions of the calligrapher's complex feelings. The fractal dimensions of character size fluctuations are close to the Fibonacci sequence. The Fibonacci number is first discovered in the Chinese calligraphy artworks, which inspires the aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy artworks and maybe also provides an approach to creating Chinese calligraphy artworks in multiple genres. 展开更多
