Objective: We conducted this study with the aim of establishing t...Introduction: Pregnancy as much as childbirth constitutes a risky situation, potentially fraught with sometimes dramatic complications: maternal death. Objective: We conducted this study with the aim of establishing the profile of those giving birth in our context with the aim to anticipate operationally in the future on morbidity but more on maternal deaths. Methodology: We conducted, using a structured questionnaire, a prospective descriptive study in representative maternity wards in the city of Douala;the study variables were socio-economic, anthropometric, obstetrical and clinical. Statistical analyses were carried out with CS Pro 7.3 and SPSS version 25.0 software. The Student, Chi-square and Fischer tests were used to compare the means of the variables and the percentages. Results: We recruited 305 births for our study. The average age of our births was 28.7 years ± 6.1 with an average height of 161.6 cm ± 5.06;an average body mass index at the start of pregnancy of 28.0 kilograms/square meter and 31.3 kilograms/square meter at delivery;the average weight gain was 8.4 g ± 5.37;an average gestation of 2.84±1.90;an average parity of 2.2 ± 2.1 with an average birth interval of 27.7 months ± 23.7. The average gestational age was 39.2 weeks ± 1.21 with pregnancy pathology dominated by malaria;85.9% began their prenatal follow-up before the 14th week of amenorrhea. Conclusion: The profile of childbirth in urban Cameroon does not seem potentially dystocic compared to that of the same regional and racial area.展开更多

The 28-year-old G2P1001 woman whom we received to our facility at 15 weeks gestation with an intraute...In this report, we present a case of a term abdominal pregnancy managed in St Padre Pio Hospital Douala (Cameroon). The 28-year-old G2P1001 woman whom we received to our facility at 15 weeks gestation with an intrauterine pregnancy confirmed by ultrasonography. She returned at 21 weeks with a history of syncope and blood transfusion in another facility. An obstetrical ultrasonography done that day revealed a live fetus located at the upper right side within the peritoneal cavity. She continued with her routine Antenatal visits, and at each visit, an ultrasonography was done, revealing a slowly growing fetus. At 38 weeks, a laparotomy was carried out, and the live male baby weighing 2500 grammes was extracted. The placenta was implanted in the uterus;it was removed with minimal blood loss of approximately 400 mls. The mother was heamodynamically stable post-operatively. The newborn presented with mild cyanosis, an oxygen saturation of 80%, which resolved after 24 hours of oxygen administration. Both mother and baby were discharged from the hospital one week after laparotomy in a stable state. This case illustrates that intra-abdominal pregnancies, though rare and complex, can be managed to term and produce viable fetuses. Practitioners should, therefore, understand the challenges in its management.展开更多
The risk of flammability is an unavoidable issue for gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs).Usually,flameretardant solvents are necessary to be used,but most of them would react with anode/cathode easily and cause serious int...The risk of flammability is an unavoidable issue for gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs).Usually,flameretardant solvents are necessary to be used,but most of them would react with anode/cathode easily and cause serious interfacial instability,which is a big challenge for design and application of nonflammable GPEs.Here,a nonflammable GPE(SGPE)is developed by in situ polymerizing trifluoroethyl methacrylate(TFMA)monomers with flame-retardant triethyl phosphate(TEP)solvents and LiTFSI–LiDFOB dual lithium salts.TEP is strongly anchored to PTFMA matrix via polarity interaction between-P=O and-CH_(2)CF_(3).It reduces free TEP molecules,which obviously mitigates interfacial reactions,and enhances flame-retardant performance of TEP surprisingly.Anchored TEP molecules are also inhibited in solvation of Li^(+),leading to anion-dominated solvation sheath,which creates inorganic-rich solid electrolyte interface/cathode electrolyte interface layers.Such coordination structure changes Li^(+)transport from sluggish vehicular to fast structural transport,raising ionic conductivity to 1.03 mS cm^(-1) and transfer number to 0.41 at 30℃.The Li|SGPE|Li cell presents highly reversible Li stripping/plating performance for over 1000 h at 0.1 mA cm^(−2),and 4.2 V LiCoO_(2)|SGPE|Li battery delivers high average specific capacity>120 mAh g^(−1) over 200 cycles.This study paves a new way to make nonflammable GPE that is compatible with Li metal anode.展开更多

Porous organic cages(POCs)with permanent porosity and excellent host–guest property hold great potentials in regulating ion transport behavior,yet their feasibility as solid-state electrolytes has never been testifie...Porous organic cages(POCs)with permanent porosity and excellent host–guest property hold great potentials in regulating ion transport behavior,yet their feasibility as solid-state electrolytes has never been testified in a practical battery.Herein,we design and fabricate a quasi-solid-state electrolyte(QSSE)based on a POC to enable the stable operation of Li-metal batteries(LMBs).Benefiting from the ordered channels and cavity-induced anion-trapping effect of POC,the resulting POC-based QSSE exhibits a high Li+transference number of 0.67 and a high ionic conductivity of 1.25×10^(−4) S cm^(−1) with a low activation energy of 0.17 eV.These allow for homogeneous Li deposition and highly reversible Li plating/stripping for over 2000 h.As a proof of concept,the LMB assembled with POC-based QSSE demonstrates extremely stable cycling performance with 85%capacity retention after 1000 cycles.Therefore,our work demonstrates the practical applicability of POC as SSEs for LMBs and could be extended to other energy-storage systems,such as Na and K batteries.展开更多

The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term mortality of children with congenital heart disease admitte...Background: Congenital heart disease is a public health issue due to its incidence and mortality rate. The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term mortality of children with congenital heart disease admitted to the Departmental University Hospital of Borgou/Alibori (CHUD-B/A) from 2011 to 2022. Methods: This descriptive longitudinal study with analytical aims covered 11 years (April 1, 2011 to December 31, 2022). It consisted of a review of the records of children under 15 years of age with echocardiographically confirmed congenital heart disease. This was followed by an interview with the parents to assess the children’s current condition. Data were entered using Kobocollect software and analyzed using R Studio 4.2.2. software. Results: A total of 143 complete files were retained. The median age at diagnosis was 14 months (IIQ: Q1 = 4;Q3 = 60) with a range of 2 days and 175 months, and the sex-ratio (M/F) was 0.96. Left-to-right shunts were the most frequent cardiopathy group (62.9%). Only 35 children (24.5%) benefited from restorative treatment. The mortality rate was 31.5%. Median survival under the maximum bias assumption was 114 months and 216 months under the assumption of minimum bias. Survival was significantly better in children with right-to-left shunts (p = 0.0049) under the assumption of minimum bias. The death risk factors were: age at diagnosis less than 12 months (aHR = 7.58;95% CI = 3.36 - 17.24;p Conclusion: The long-term mortality of congenital heart disease is high and favoured by the absence of restorative treatment. Local correction of congenital heart disease and medical follow-up will help to reduce this mortality.展开更多

Based on a long-term trial, the amounts of water dissolved substances (...The changes in humic substances (HS) is fundamental in detecting soil carbon sequestration mechanisms in natural and cultivated environments. Based on a long-term trial, the amounts of water dissolved substances (WSS), humic acid (HA), fulvic acid (FA) and humin (HU) were determined to explore the impact of long-term fertilization on HS. Increases in the amounts of WSS, HA, FA and HU were significant different among the treatments with manure. A significant correlation was found between the increased soil organic carbon (SOC) and HS (R^2=0.98, P〈0.01). The change in the E4/E6 ratio was significantly correlated with the increased SOC (R2=0.88, P〈0.01), HA (R^2=0.91, P〈0.01), FA (R^2=0.91, P〈0.01) and HU (R^2=0.88, P〈0.01). The cluster was mainly divided into two parts as manure fertilization and inorganic fertilization, based on the increases in HA, FA and HU. These results suggest that long term fertilization with manure favours carbon sequestration in HS and is mainly stabilized as HU, while the HA becomes more aliphatic. We conclude that increases in SOC can be linked to changes in the molecular characteristics of HS fractions under long term fertilization.展开更多

Eighteen litters of piglets(total 212) were randomly allocated to 2 groups and were fed a creep feed diet with or without in-feed antibiotics(olaquindox, oxytetracycline calcium and kitasamycin) from postnatal d 7 to d 42. On d 42, the piglets within the control or antibiotic group were mixed, respectively, and then further randomly assigned to a normal-(20%, 18%, and 14% CP from d 42 to d 77, d 77 to d 120, and d 120 to d 185,respectively) or a low-CP diet(16%, 14%, and 10% CP from d 42 to d 77, d 77 to d 120, and d 120 to d 185,respectively), generating 4 groups. On d 77(short-term) and d 185(long-term), serum and fecal samples were obtained for blood parameters, microbial composition and microbial metabolism analysis.Results: EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) albumin and glucose concentrations in low-CP diet on d 77, and increased(P 〈 0.05) urea concentration in normal-CP diet. On d 185, EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) globulin concentration in normal-CP diets, but decreased glucose concentration. For nutrient digestibility, EAI increased(P 〈 0.05)digestibility of CP on d 77. For fecal microbiota, the EAI as well as low-CP diet decreased(P 〈 0.05) E. coli count on d 77. For fecal metabolites, on d 77, EAI decreased(P 〈 0.05) total amines concentration but increased skatole concentration in low-CP diet. On d 185, the EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) putrescine and total amines concentrations in low-CP diets but reduced(P 〈 0.05) in the normal-CP diets. The low-CP diet decreased the concentrations of these compounds.Conclusions: Collectively, these results indicate that EAI has short-term effects on the blood parameters and fecal microbial fermentation profile. The effects of EAI varied between CP levels, which was characterized by the significant alteration of glucose and putrescine concentration.展开更多
Currently,alcoholic cirrhosis is the second leading indication for liver transplantation in the United States and Europe.The quality of life and survival after a liver transplantation(LT)in patients with alcoholic liv...Currently,alcoholic cirrhosis is the second leading indication for liver transplantation in the United States and Europe.The quality of life and survival after a liver transplantation(LT)in patients with alcoholic liver disease(ALD)are similar to those in patients with other cirrhosis etiologies.The alcoholic relapse rate after a LT varies from 10%-50%,and these relapse patients are the ones who present a reduced long-term survival,mainly due to cardiovascular diseases and the onset of de novo neoplasms,including lung and upper aerodigestive tract.Nearly 40%of ALD recipients resume smoking and resume it early post-LT.Therefore,our pre-and post-LT follow-up efforts regarding ALD should be focused not only on alcoholic relapse but also on treating and avoiding other modifiable risk factors such as tobacco.The psychiatric and psychosocial pre-LT evaluation and the post-LT follow-up with physicians,psychiatrists and addiction specialists are important for reversing these problems because these professionals help to identify patients at risk for relapse as well as those patients who have relapsed,thus enabling responsive actions.展开更多

The death risk factors were: age at diagnosis less than 12 months (aHR = 7.58;95% CI = 3.36 - 17.24;p Conclusion: The long-term mortality of congenital heart disease is high and favoured by the absence of restorative treatment. Local correction of congenital heart disease and medical follow-up will help to reduce this mortality.

文摘Shang Han Lun is one of the most famous and important traditional medical books in China,so many translation versions of it have emerged.Based on the comparison of examples taken from two of these translation versions,Young Jie De ' s Shang Han Lun Explained and Huang Hai s Introduction to Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease,the paper points out that Nida s Functional Equivalence Theory provides a new idea for the translation of Disease and Syndrome Terms in TCM that literal translation,liberal translation and transliteration can be adopted appropriately to make readers of translation versions understand TCM accurately and easily.
文摘识别学科交叉研究的前沿主题,并对演化趋势进行分析,有助于揭示学科交叉融合的方向,为未来创新性、突破性研究提供参考。首先,基于引文视角构建测度论文学科交叉性的指标,识别具有学科交叉性的研究论文;其次,通过BERT-LDA模型识别研究主题,利用余弦相似度计算主题之间的相似度,构建主题演化路径;最后,基于新颖度、增长性、关注度、影响力构建前沿主题识别指标体系,识别具有前沿性的学科交叉研究主题。以图书情报学(Library and Information Science,LIS)为例展开研究,研究结果显示,2004—2023年该学科领域的交叉研究主题呈现出逐渐细化和深入的特点,主要集中在信息挖掘与知识发现、互联网信息行为、医疗信息学3个方面;现阶段学科交叉研究前沿主题为医疗数据模型、舆情治理与情感分析、机器学习与深度学习;基于信息技术的研究方法和其在不同领域的应用研究具有良好的应用前景,有可能成为未来LIS领域的核心研究主题。

文摘The changes in humic substances (HS) is fundamental in detecting soil carbon sequestration mechanisms in natural and cultivated environments. Based on a long-term trial, the amounts of water dissolved substances (WSS), humic acid (HA), fulvic acid (FA) and humin (HU) were determined to explore the impact of long-term fertilization on HS. Increases in the amounts of WSS, HA, FA and HU were significant different among the treatments with manure. A significant correlation was found between the increased soil organic carbon (SOC) and HS (R^2=0.98, P〈0.01). The change in the E4/E6 ratio was significantly correlated with the increased SOC (R2=0.88, P〈0.01), HA (R^2=0.91, P〈0.01), FA (R^2=0.91, P〈0.01) and HU (R^2=0.88, P〈0.01). The cluster was mainly divided into two parts as manure fertilization and inorganic fertilization, based on the increases in HA, FA and HU. These results suggest that long term fertilization with manure favours carbon sequestration in HS and is mainly stabilized as HU, while the HA becomes more aliphatic. We conclude that increases in SOC can be linked to changes in the molecular characteristics of HS fractions under long term fertilization.
文摘In this paper, a new class of three term memory gradient method with non-monotone line search technique for unconstrained optimization is presented. Global convergence properties of the new methods are discussed. Combining the quasi-Newton method with the new method, the former is modified to have global convergence property. Numerical results show that the new algorithm is efficient.

文摘Backgroud: This study aimed to determine the effects of early antibiotic intervention(EAI) on subsequent blood parameters, apparent nutrient digestibility, and fecal fermentation profile in pigs with different dietary crude protein(CP) levels. Eighteen litters of piglets(total 212) were randomly allocated to 2 groups and were fed a creep feed diet with or without in-feed antibiotics(olaquindox, oxytetracycline calcium and kitasamycin) from postnatal d 7 to d 42. On d 42, the piglets within the control or antibiotic group were mixed, respectively, and then further randomly assigned to a normal-(20%, 18%, and 14% CP from d 42 to d 77, d 77 to d 120, and d 120 to d 185,respectively) or a low-CP diet(16%, 14%, and 10% CP from d 42 to d 77, d 77 to d 120, and d 120 to d 185,respectively), generating 4 groups. On d 77(short-term) and d 185(long-term), serum and fecal samples were obtained for blood parameters, microbial composition and microbial metabolism analysis.Results: EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) albumin and glucose concentrations in low-CP diet on d 77, and increased(P 〈 0.05) urea concentration in normal-CP diet. On d 185, EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) globulin concentration in normal-CP diets, but decreased glucose concentration. For nutrient digestibility, EAI increased(P 〈 0.05)digestibility of CP on d 77. For fecal microbiota, the EAI as well as low-CP diet decreased(P 〈 0.05) E. coli count on d 77. For fecal metabolites, on d 77, EAI decreased(P 〈 0.05) total amines concentration but increased skatole concentration in low-CP diet. On d 185, the EAI increased(P 〈 0.05) putrescine and total amines concentrations in low-CP diets but reduced(P 〈 0.05) in the normal-CP diets. The low-CP diet decreased the concentrations of these compounds.Conclusions: Collectively, these results indicate that EAI has short-term effects on the blood parameters and fecal microbial fermentation profile. The effects of EAI varied between CP levels, which was characterized by the significant alteration of glucose and putrescine concentration.
文摘Currently,alcoholic cirrhosis is the second leading indication for liver transplantation in the United States and Europe.The quality of life and survival after a liver transplantation(LT)in patients with alcoholic liver disease(ALD)are similar to those in patients with other cirrhosis etiologies.The alcoholic relapse rate after a LT varies from 10%-50%,and these relapse patients are the ones who present a reduced long-term survival,mainly due to cardiovascular diseases and the onset of de novo neoplasms,including lung and upper aerodigestive tract.Nearly 40%of ALD recipients resume smoking and resume it early post-LT.Therefore,our pre-and post-LT follow-up efforts regarding ALD should be focused not only on alcoholic relapse but also on treating and avoiding other modifiable risk factors such as tobacco.The psychiatric and psychosocial pre-LT evaluation and the post-LT follow-up with physicians,psychiatrists and addiction specialists are important for reversing these problems because these professionals help to identify patients at risk for relapse as well as those patients who have relapsed,thus enabling responsive actions.
