Combined bodies of rock-like material and rock are widely encountered in geotechnical engineering,such as tunnels and mines.The existing theoretical models describing the stress-strain relationship of a combined body lack a binary feature.Based on effective medium theory,this paper presents the governing equation of the“elastic modulus”for combined and single bodies under triaxial compressive tests.A binary effective medium model is then established.Based on the compressive experiment of concretegranite combined bodies,the feasibility of determining the stress threshold based on crack axial strain is discussed,and the model is verified.The model is further extended to coal-rock combined bodies of more diverse types,and the variation laws of the compressive mechanical parameters are then discussed.The results show that the fitting accuracy of the model with the experimental curves of the concretegranite combined bodies and various types of coal-rock combined bodies are over 95%.The crack axial strain method can replace the crack volumetric strain method,which clarifies the physical meanings of the model parameters.The variation laws of matrix parameters and crack parameters are discussed in depth and are expected to be more widely used in geotechnical engineering. 展开更多

From Differential Mode of Association to Tianxia Worldview:A Study on Chinese Entrepreneurial Spirit

China has made significant strides in economic and social development since reform and opening up over the past four decades.This process has been influenced by the exceptional innovation and entrepreneurship of Chinese business leaders,as well as their profound sentiments of compassion for the world and their country.It is of great significance to foster and promote an entrepreneurial spirit with distinctive Chinese characteristics.Not only is such spirit essential to the high-quality development of enterprises and the economy,but it is also a critical impetus for achieving Chinese modernization.Nevertheless,there is still a paucity of adequate theoretical discourse on the cultural origins and entrepreneurial spirit of outstanding Chinese business leaders.This paper employs the classical grounded theory method to conduct a 10-year follow-up research on 11 representative entrepreneurs and their enterprises.The results indicate that these entrepreneurs exhibit an evolving worldview along the paths of“self-cultivation and moral conduct”,“assisting employees to achieve”,“multilateral symbiosis”,and“the oneness of existence”when interacting with themselves,employees,partners,the general public,and all things in nature.Such entrepreneurial spirit is embodied in this paper as the“Tianxia(all-under-heaven)worldview”.Through theoretical construction,this study defines the concept of“Tianxia worldview”and extensively examines the distinctions and connections between the broadminded“Tianxia worldview”and the kinship-centered“differential mode of association”in terms of internal structure,value orientation,and applicable groups.It is posited that the transition from the former to the latter is a continuous process of transcendence and evolution of the individual mindset.This study has theoretical significance in the context of advancing the research on the Chinese entrepreneurial spirit,transcending the constraints of the management approach based on the“differential mode of association”,and enhancing the research on social responsibility from the perspective of“benefit corporations”.It also has practical value in overcoming the trust dilemma and development impediment of family businesses,ensuring that enterprises consciously fulfill their social responsibilities in a broader social context,and achieving common prosperity and progress for both enterprises and society. 展开更多

With the discovery of gas-water flowing law of multi-cycle relative permeability hysteresis and differential utilization in zones, the extreme utilization theory targeting at the maximum amount of stored gas, maximum injection-production capacity and maximum efficiency in space utilization is proposed to support the three-in-one evaluation method of the maximum pressure-bearing capacity of geological body, maximum well production capacity and maximum peak shaving capacity of storage space. This study realizes the full potential of gas storage(storage capacity) at maximum pressure, maximum formation-wellbore coordinate production, optimum well spacing density match with finite-time unsteady flow, and peaking shaving capacity at minimum pressure, achieving perfect balance between security and capacity. According to the requirement of the project 'Establishment of the Physical Model of Earthquake PrecursorFields',this paper elucidates the train of thinking for research on the project and some scientific problems whichmust be studied i, the elucidation emphasizes that the core of this project is to study the conditions and processesof the generation of strong earthquakes. The paper first outlines the origin and development of the'strong-bodyearthquake-generating model' proposed by the author in the 1980;and then proves the reasonableness of themodel from three aspects, namely: deep structures, mechanical analysis and rock fracture experiments. Bystudying the tomographic image for the northern part of North China, it can be seen that the sources of strongearthquakes are all distributed in high-velocity bodies,or in the contact zone between high-velocity and lowvelocity bodies but nearer to the high-velocity body. It has been affirmed through studies of the mechanical modelsof hard and soft inclusions that the existence of a hard inclusion is an imPOrtant condition for the high concentration of large amounts of strain energy. A lot of theoretical and experimental studies have been made to investigate the conditions for rock instability; the results have consistently indicated that rock instability,sudden fracture and stress drop would be possible only if the stiffness of the source body is greater than the environmentalstiffness. 展开更多

Nonlinear Time-Domain Theory for the Simulation of Moored Floating Body Motion

Nonlinear wave loads can induce low-frequency and high-frequency resonance motions of a moored platform in deep water. For the analysis of the nonlinear response of an offshore platform under the action of irregular waves, the most widely used method in practice is the Cummins method, in which the second-order exciting forces in the time domain are computed by a two-term Volterra series model based on incident waves, first-order body motion response, and quadratic transfer functions(QTFs). QTFs are bichromatic waves acting on a body and are computed in the frequency domain in advance. For moving bodies, QTFs are related to the first-order body response, which is to be determined in the simulation process of body motion response but is unknown in the computation procedure of QTFs. In solving this problem, Teng and Cong(2017) proposed a method to divide the QTFs into different components,which are unrelated to the body response. With the application of the new QTF components, a modified Cummins method can be developed for the simulation of the nonlinear response of a moored floating platform. The results show that the co... In this paper, nonlinear constitutive equations are deduced strictly according to the constitutive axioms of rational continuum mechanics. The existing judgments are modified and improved. The results show that the constitutive responses of nonlocal thermoelastic body are related to the curvature and higher order gradient of its material space, and there exists an antisymmetric stress whose average value in the domain occupied by thermoelastic body is equal to zero. The expressions of the antisymmetric stress and the nonlocal residuals are given. The conclusion that the directions of thermal conduction and temperature gradient are consistent is reached. In addition, the objectivity about the nonlocal residuals and the energy conservation law of nonlocal field is discussed briefly, and a formula for calculating the nonlocal residuals of energy changing with rigid motion of the spatial frame of reference is derived. 展开更多

Analysis of human data has been primarily from radiation accidents, radiotherapy and the atomic bomb victims. The author published the general mathematical equations of LD50 constructed on the basis of data presented by Cerveny, MacVittie and Young, employing the probacent formula model. In this study, the author compared the equations of tolerance of total body irradiation and decay of isotopes, uranium and thorium. Participation in Mind-Body-Spirit Programs and Length of Stay in a Residential Addiction Treatment Facility: A Retrospective Analysis

Length of stay in treatment is thought to be the best predictors for long-term recovery from substance use disorders. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between participation in mind-body-spirit (MBS) therapeutic programs and length of stay in a residential treatment facility. A retrospective analysis of data from 1719 subjects who were admitted to a 30-day residential program for substance use disorders (SUD) was conducted. Subjects participated in MBS programs that included yoga, acupuncture and meditation. We examined the effects of subject participation in MBS programs for subjects who left against staff advice (ASA) and those who successfully completed the residential program. A higher percentage of subjects with severe heroin use disorder left ASA compared with subjects with severe alcohol use disorder (16% vs. 9%, respectively). Most subjects from both substance groups who failed to complete the 30-day treatment program, left within the first two weeks of stay (59% of alcohol group and 75% of heroin group);however, again, the percentage of heroin users leaving during the first two weeks was significantly greater compared with that of alcohol subjects. We found a highly significant, positive correlation (r = 0.56, p < 0.01) and a statistically significant increase in LOS for all subjects, regardless of the substance type, and the number of MBS program sessions attended showing an association between MBS participation and increased LOS. These data support the inclusion of MBS programs as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy for SUD in combination with traditional counseling to help develop a sustainable long-term recovery. 展开更多

Based on thermal-entransy theory, the multi-objective constructal design of quadrilateral heat generation body(HGB) with similar shapes of leaves is studied further. The relationship between the aspect ratio of quadrilateral HGB and average temperature difference based on thermal-entransy dissipation is compared with that between the aspect ratio of quadrilateral HGB and the maximum temperature difference(MTD). The relationship between a composite function, consisting of linear weighting sum of the average temperature difference and MTD, and aspect ratio is obtained, and the optimal aspect ratios under minimum composite function with different weighting coefficients are obtained. Using the NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm, the Pareto frontier containing a series of compromise results of average temperature difference and MTD is obtained, and optimization results are compared using the deviation index. There is no aspect ratio to make both MTD and average temperature difference reach the minimum, and the optimal aspect ratio under the minimum MTD is smaller than that under the minimum average temperature difference. The optimal aspect ratio is obtained by making the composite function reach the minimum, and the optimal aspect ratios obtained by minimizing the composite function with different weighting coefficients are different. Compared with the construct of the initial design, the value of the composite function with optimal construct decreases by 1.9%, and the aspect ratio of the quadrilateral HGB decreases by 9.1%. The average temperature difference with the optimal construct increases by 2.1%, and the MTD with the optimal construct decreases by 5.6%. The deviation index under multi-objective optimization is smaller than that under single-objective optimization, and the obtained construct has better comprehensive thermal conductivity. Compared with TOPSIS and LINMAP decision-making methods, the average temperature difference with composite function optimization increases by 0.55% and 0.62% respectively, but the MTD with composite function optimization decreases by 0.84% and 0.96%. 展开更多

The obtained results show that the AlSO molecule has a most stable structure with bond lengths of ROA1= 0.1864 nm, ROS=0.1623 nm, RAIS=0.2450 nm, together with a dissociation energy of 13.88 eV. The possible electronic states and their reasonable dissociation limits for the ground state of the AlSO molecule were determined based on the principle of atomic and molecular reaction statics. The analytic potential energy function of the AlSO molecule was derived by the many-body expansion theory and the contour lines were constructed for the first time, which show the internal information of the AlSO molecule, including the equilibrium structure and stable point. The analysis demonstrates that the obtained potential energy function of AlSO is reaSonable and successful and the present investigations provide important insights for further study on molecular reaction dynamics. 展开更多

In this paper, the energy, equilibrium geometry, and harmonic frequency of the ground electronic state of PO2 are computed using the B3LYP, B3P86, CCSD(T), and QCISD(T) methods in conjunction with the 6-311++G(3df, 3pd) and cc-pVTZ basis sets. A comparison between the computational results and the experimental values indicates that the B3P86/6-311++G(3df, 3pd) method can give better energy calculation results for the PO2 molecule. It is shown that the ground state of the PO2 molecule has C2v symmetry and its ground electronic state is X2A1. The equilibrium parameters of the structure are Rp-o = 0.1465 am, ZOPO = 134.96°, and the dissociation energy is Ed = 19.218 eV. The bent vibrational frequency Ul = 386 cm-1, symmetric stretching frequency v2 = 1095 cm-1, and asymmetric stretching frequency ua = 1333 em-1 are obtained. On the basis of atomic and molecular reaction statics, a reasonable dissociation limit for the ground state of the PO2 molecule is determined. Then the analytic potential energy function of the PO2 molecule is derived using many-body expansion theory. The potential curves correctly reproduce the configurations and the dissociation energy for the PO2 molecule. 展开更多

Based on the principles of atomic and molecular reaction statics, the possible electronic states and reasonable dissociation limits for the ground state of HCO molecule have been determined. The analytic potential energy function of HCO (X^2A') molecule has been derived by using the many-body expansion theory. The contour lines are constructed, which show the static properties of HCO (X^2A'), such as the equilibrium structure, the lowest energies, etc. The potential energy surface of HCO (X^2A') is reasonable and very satisfactory. 展开更多

I do believe that there comes a time when there is lack of a reversible interaction between the soul and the spirit in certain individuals which leads to a state of mental offset. For humans to live in sociality the world is governed by humans’ laws but the mentally offset human do not live according to these laws. Due to this, they are considered as being useless in the society but I do believe that they have complete natural human rights and are not useless for they are aware of each act they perform. It is observed that the mentally offset human hardly acquire a disease from natural origin, I do believe that due to this lack of a reversible interaction between the soul and the spirit, the immune system is reprogrammed such that there is a lack of recognition of exogenous and endogenous pathological substances and there is no means of interaction between these substances and the body cells. 展开更多
