It is shown that Mercury's motion of the perihelion around the Sun, which is believed to be explicable quantitatively only by general relativity, can be fully understood within the frame of the dynamics of special...It is shown that Mercury's motion of the perihelion around the Sun, which is believed to be explicable quantitatively only by general relativity, can be fully understood within the frame of the dynamics of special relativity. It is only necessary to take into consideration the relativistic dependence of the planet's inertial and gravitational masses on its velocity (relative to the Sun) in the conservation equations for energy, and linear and angular momenta in the gravitational field. The physical Problem is reduced to a singular, nonlinear differential equation, which is solved numerically for the planet Mercury. The advance of the perihelion of Mercury is shown to be = 42.087' for a period of 100 years, which is in agreement with the as- tronomical observations and the result (by analytical approximations) of general relativity.展开更多
The purpose of this article is twofold.First,it explores the order of the development of nominal and verbal gender of Amharic,which is one of the Ethio-Semitic languages.Second,it provides empirical evidence for the t...The purpose of this article is twofold.First,it explores the order of the development of nominal and verbal gender of Amharic,which is one of the Ethio-Semitic languages.Second,it provides empirical evidence for the typological plausibility of processability theory(PT).In fact,PT has been tested in typologically different languages(e.g.,English,Italian,and Japan);however,it does not have any validation from Ethiopian languages in general and Ethio-Semitic languages in particular yet.Relevant data was collected from sixteen respondents via picture description tasks,short storytelling,interviews,story re-telling,and spot the difference tasks.Distributional analysis was conducted for the analysis,and the point of emergence of target structures was determined using the emergence criteria.Accordingly,the result shows that the development of gender assignment is compatible with processability theory’s predictions in that lexical procedure precedes phrasal procedure,which is followed by S-procedure.Moreover,the masculine gender emerged earlier than its feminine counterpart at all developmental stages.However,subject agreement markers in pro-drop context emerged at stage two preceding subject verb agreement.This finding is against processability theory’s claim that suggests subject agreement markers only emerge at stage four of the processability hierarchy disregarding their stages of development in pro-drop context in particular.展开更多

One of the various facets concerning the availability of class arbitration has gathered overwhelming discussion in the US. According to the decisions of the United States Supreme Court, whether class action is applicable is probably decided by the arbitrator＇s interpretation of the parties＇ intent when an adequately drafted arbitration clause is silent on this issue, regardless of the correctness of his/her construing of the contracts. The contract interpretation theory is a conclusion of existing jurisprudence while the question of arbitrability doctrine may be a hint or inkling from a recent court decision. Comparing these two sides, it is better to regard the availability of class arbitration for silent agreements as a matter of contract interpretation. Although it is preferable to regard the availability issue of class action as a contract interpretation question, some restrictions on the arbitrators＇ broad contract interpretation needs to be imposed so that the parties＇ real intent can be properly enforced.展开更多
