Being one of the most important English aesthetics in the 18th century,Edmund Burke played a significant role in the develop-ment of aesthetics.And his ideas of aesthetic theory are represented by one of his treatises: A philosophical Inquiry into the Origin of OurIdeas of the Sublime and Beautiful.This paper aims at interpreting Burke's aesthetics ideas from the perspectives of three important terms:qualities of the objects;psychological and physical nature of the subjects and the standard of the taste.

A Study on the Reproduction of Artistic Conception in Translation of Chinese Classical Poetry from the Perspective of Reception Aesthetics Theory

Chinese classical poetry has long been known for its unique artistic conception of mixture of sentiments andscenery, the conception beyond image and the refinement out of rhyme. From the perspective of receptionaesthetics theory, this paper analyzes translation strategies of the classical poetry, probes into the problems thatretaining “indeterminacy” and satisfying the readers “horizon of expectations” when translate Chinese classicalpoetry. It is necessary to keep enough aesthetic space, and to give full play to the translator’s aesthetic creativitywhen translate Chinese classical poetry, so as to reproduce the artistic conception of Chinese classical poetry.

On Yuanqu Poems Translation from the Perspective of Relevance Theory——A Case Study on Three Poems in An English Translation of 200 Yuanqu Poems

The rich and distinctive cultural connotations in Yuanqu poems pose great challenges to translators. Translators have always been faced with the problem that the external and internal properties of original work can't be reproduced simultaneously in Yuanqu poems translation. For the present, few people attempt to analyze or evaluate the quality of Yuanqu poems tranlation with relevance theory. Therefore, It ventures to explore an effective way for Yuanqu poems translation from the perspective of relevance theory, by analyzing the three poems in An English Translation of 200 Yuanqu Poems.

A Study on the Translation Aesthetics in Cathay based on Pound's Translation Theory of Recreation

This article expounds on Ezra Pound's translation anthology,Cathay by elaborating how he recreated classic Chinese poetry in modem English with his own translation aesthetics and theory.As both translation practice and recreation,Cathay exerts profound impact on global literatures and translations,conveying enlightenment to cultural exchanges between different civilizations.Based on Pound's translation theory,this article intends to unfold the aesthetics in Cathay including the beauty of exotic oriental culture,emotions that travels across time and space,and concise imagery through his recreation of connotations,themes,and text forms.Distinguishing from the precedents,Pound has made breakthroughs in the translation process,form,and criteria,valuing the translator's subjectivity.Nowadays,as overseas Chinese learners are increasingly keen in the Chinese culture,Pound's re-conceptualization of translation and cultural understanding can serve as rich references to cross-cultural exchanges and mutual learnings.

Study on the Application of Gestalt Theory in CLT

On retranslation of famous book from the perspective of aesthetics of reception： The comparison of two translated versions of The old man and the sea

According to aesthetics of reception, the reception of literature can be divided into two patterns, that is, vertical reception and horizontal reception. The former means determining the original text＇s meaning from the perspective of historical development. Readers in different history periods have different explanations and conclusions of certain writer or original text because of their different social and cultural backgrounds. The author of this thesis combines the viewpoint and the translation of famous book, holding that famous book has special aesthetical value and its explanation shouldn＇t be limited by certain translated version. Retranslation can keep and enrich the aesthetical value of the famous book and should be encouraged.

Dependency-based importance measures of components in mechatronic systems with complex network theory

To compensate for the limitations of previous studies,a complex network-based method is developed for determining importance measures,which combines the functional roles of the components of a mechatronic system and their topological positions.First,the dependencies among the components are well-represented and well-calculated.Second,a mechatronic system is modeled as a weighted and directional functional dependency network(FDN),in which the node weights are determined by the functional roles of components in the system and their topological positions in the complex network whereas the edge weights are represented by dependency strengths.Third,given that the PageRank algorithm cannot calculate the dependency strengths among components,an improved PageRank importance measure(IPIM)algorithm is proposed,which combines the node weights and edge weights of complex networks.IPIM also considers the importance of neighboring components.Finally,a case study is conducted to investigate the accuracy of the proposed method.Results show that the method can effectively determine the importance measures of components.

On the Aesthetic Value of the Theory of Survival and the Theory of Death in the Works of Franz Kafka

The problem of "life and death" has been a confusing proposition of philosophy since long ago,for which philosophers both at home and abroad take great pains to pursue the answer.The problem of"life and death"is also attractive for litterateurs.This paper attempts to scrutinize the works of Franz Kafka and based on comments of different critics,simply analyzing the theory of survival and the theory of death and exploring the aesthetic value.Through analysis,the author of this paper concludes that the theory of survival in the works of Kafka tends to express hating of not being favored by chances and the fright and anxiety of the time;on the contrary,the theory of death in his works tends to express worship and belief.Both life and death are expressed vividly in his works,showing the brave pursuit of senior artistic forms of Kafka and the essence of its aesthetic value.

Development of the Emergent Theory of Aesthetic Nursing Practice (AesNURP)

Theory is necessary to science and science grounds legitimate and essential practice. This is true for Nursing as a discipline of knowledge and a practicing profession. Nevertheless, should all science or research within a scientific field be focused on theoretical development and testing? Currently, various nursing theories exist to describe and explain the phenomena of nursing. Often, the development of nursing theory is in response to advancing ontologies and epistemologies of nursing. The advent of technology is one of these advances challenging the professional practice of nursing. How will nursing practice be made visible and realistic in the face of traditional nursing care practice? Nursing practice processes, derived from theories of nursing, provide opportunities for demonstrating practice grounded in the science of nursing. The purpose of this article is to describe the development of the emergent theory of Aesthetic Nursing Practice, focus on illuminating caring for person through the process of encountering, co-creating caring relationships, and meaningful engaging between the nurse and nursed through caring encounters occurring in caring situations. Five assumptions and a model of practice are described. As a contemporary theory of Nursing, it describes caring for persons who remain wholes and enhance their well-being.

An Overall Urban System: Integrating Central Place Theory and Urban Network Idea in the Greater Pearl River Delta of China

Following a half century of popularity, central place theory experienced 20 years of neglect when the new urban system theory of network modeling gained attention at the beginning of the 1990s. However, central place theory remains valid, and it seems there has been a reemergence with it. Using the Greater Pearl River Delta (Greater PRD) as an experimental study region, this paper intends to present an empirical study that validates central place theory and shows that it can be integrated into an overall regional urban system. The study uses the compound Central Place Importance (CPI) to evaluate whether there is a hierarchy among the urban centers within the study area. The results indicate the existence of a hierarchy. Furthermore, empirical observation finds distinct complementarity relationships, rank-size distributions, and co-operative actions between the different cities, thus substantiating the claim that central place theory can be incorporated into an overall regional urban system. Besides, the presence of the densely distributed modern infrastructure system also appears to constitute a dimension of the overall urban system. There need further theoretical and empirical studies in order to support this proposition.

Comparative Aesthetics of Chinese and Western Visual Poetry Based on the Multimodal Theories

Although the Chinese visual poetry and western visual poetry have a lot of differences,the similarity of visual poetry is the combination of poetry and painting.This research will apply the method of comparative analysis and multimodal theories,aiming to provide a new view to evaluate Chinese and western poetry,so as to promote the aesthetic experiences of Chinese and western culture for public.The research finds that Chinese and western poetry can be analyzed from the perspective of framework of visual-image analysis based on multimodal theories,which is composed of three major meanings:representation,interaction and composition.The comparative aesthetics based on the multimodal theories is of great significance to the appreciation and enjoyment of Chinese and western visual poetry.

Research on Development of the Aesthetic Interaction and Interaction Design Theory and the Applications on Art Design Field

In this paper, we conduct research on development of aesthetic interaction and interaction design theory and the applications on art design fi eld. In this article to discuss the experience and the depth of the aesthetic object is limited in the fi eld of aesthetics, although both clearly show their subject or object, but if points in general is easy to fall into the quagmire of subjective idealism and mechanical materialism, it is off the aesthetic realm. It is on the basis of the unity between subject and object of this essay, it is in this, experience and the depth of the aesthetic object is worth exploring the intersection. Organizational communication and the reception aesthetics in their own unique research perspective and multi-disciplinary background, in the organization and the role of aesthetic gradually revealed, integration and interaction of the two is the inevitable trend of development. Under this basis, we propose the corresponding issues as the implementation that is meaningful.

A Case Study of China as an Exporter of Higher Education Using Push-Pull Theory

Developing countries establishing international branch campuses （IBCs） is an emerging trend, and currently compromises 17% percent of the market in terms of the number of IBCs. While researchers have applied different social science perspectives to analyze cross-border higher education and IBCs, they usually emphasize developed countries as exporters and developing countries as importers of higher education. The phenomenon of developing countries as exporters of higher education has seldom been looked at so far in the research. This paper first describes the current development of IBCs, then illustrates what social science perspectives have been used on this topic, followed by how push-pull theory relates to developing countries being exporters of IBCs. The paper aims to combine E.S. Lee＇s push-pull theory and Gu＇s push-pull framework to analyze the push and pull factors in their advertisement and marketing claims when higher education institutions （HEIs） from developing countries plan to establish branch campuses in foreign countries. Soochow University in Laos is used as a case study. Furthermore, intermediate barriers and solutions are also identified in this case study. However, this case study has its own uniqueness and only serves heuristic for future research.

A Study on the Rhetorical Structure of Xi Jinping's Important Speeches for the New Era

Based on the Rhetorical Structure Theory (hereinafter referred to as RST), the study selected and analyzed the English versions of ten important speeches made by President Xi for the new era and drew up rhetorical trees.Through a thorough investiga-tion of rhetorical structures of Xi's speeches on the basis of RST, the study found that:1) Elaboration, Background and Evidence re-lations are the dominant relations in President Xi's speeches;2) The preference of forward arrow direction is an unexpected find-ing;3) There are two patterns of macrostructure of rhetorical relations in Xi's speeches.

Literature and aesthetics have similarities,both of which are a kind of ideology and can endow us a satisfaction of people's spiritual need and purify and sublimate people's mind.And there is something interwoven in the two disciplines.Plato,as a early western literary theorist,has also delved into the discipline of aesthetics.This article is a general analysis of his aesthetic ideas in his works.

Generalization Rough Set Theory

In order to avoid the discretization in the classical rough set theory, a generlization rough set theory is proposed. At first, the degree of general importance of an attribute and attribute subsets are presented. Then, depending on the degree of general importance of attribute, the space distance can be measured with weighted method. At last, a generalization rough set theory based on the general near neighborhood relation is proposed. The proposed theory partitions the universe into the tolerant modules, and forms lower approximation and upper approximation of the set under general near neighborhood relationship, which avoids the discretization in Pawlak's rough set theory.
